Hi guys, I'm glad so many of you like this regrade! Seems I wasn't the only one who felt this way about the purple lol. I saw some comments about reds becoming orange etc. and yea that unfortunately is the downside to using reshade for regrading colors it simply affects everything in the game. I will make an attempt to bring the reds back to normal without bringing any purple back but since I have to work this whole weekend it might not be too soon because I'd rather enjoy the game in my free time :) just wanted to let you know. thanks for the feedback!
EDIT: I tried to this very quickly and I think the results look okay. I will leave this version up now instead of the previous one.
EDIT2: I uploaded another optional version where I didn't touch any of the reds except for magentas. I think the results look really good but there will still be some slight pink tints here and there but overall still a huge improvement in my eyes over the original look. Personally I prefer the OG version but I can see that some things are more orange than they should be :) I will look into the HDR issue next and see if there is some way to force HDR10 instead of scRGB, as apparently some users get scRGB unlike me in the native implementation which is kinda weird? Anyway have to work today again so might not be today.
EDIT3: I redid the color grading to remove purple without too much desaturation and not touching the reds so there still is some blue-greyish and some pink colors but it's very subtle. I replaced the OG version with this new one which will now be the definitive version.
Unfortunately I didn't find any other way to fix the HDR issue some people seem to have with scRGB, other than installing Special K and forcing the swap chain to use hdr10 instead. This doesn't affect everyone though I've seen other people like myself who can run native hdr with this regrade no problem.
Anyways thanks all for the kind words and all the people helping each other out especially @MsTHunter. I don't think I will spend any more time on this except for helping out with problems. Have fun with the game! Personally I am really enjoying it so far :)
Thank you!! In the meantime I also found a way to bring back the red color by adding Prod80's selective color (v2) shader on top of yours. In case anyone is interested I uploaded pics in this mod images page (awaiting approval) that have all the numbers you need. The difference between it and the updated version of this mod is that It also fixed the "grey-ish" skin color on Hardin in the lighthouse cutscenes. Vik maybe you could upload the .ini version of this if you also like it, or if you'll give permission for me to upload it (although it is easy to replicate)
thanks, I will have a look at your settings when I have time it might look better than reds untouched. it will have to wait though - thanks for sharing!
I've never used a ReShader like this before and I'm having a bit of trouble. When I open the game and press the HOME button on my keyboard, nothing comes up. Please, help! 🙏
Hi there, did you extract the contents of the ZIP-File into the main game directory (where the game.exe is)? If so do you see a notification that reshade has been injected into the game when booting up the game?
If you don't get the notification that means reshade is not being injected which would mean it's either being blocked/another application is already injecting before reshade or the dxgi.dll file is in the wrong place.
If you do get the notification then you have to press the "home" button on your keyboard or you could go into the reshade.ini file and replace that overlay key with another one if your home-key doesn't work. You can get a list of keyboard keys codes here: https://asawicki.info/nosense/doc/devices/keyboard/key_codes.html
Hi, thank you so much! It's working now! It looks absolutely amazing! Much more in line with the other games and far less harsh/distracting on the eyes!
The Formless One and Fangscorcher become invulnerable once they perch. I just tested it and the Formless One does indeed become invulnerable once perched.
Hmm is he part of the achievement "Bringing Down the Sky"? I can't remember having any issues with any of the dragons I defeated in my playthrough and I actually got that achievement so that's why I'm wondering.
If you want, you can install reshade, and then when it asks you to choose the shaders you want to download, look for Quint from MartyMcFly. Click on the shader channel's box, and only select LIGHTROOM.
Proceed, let it download, and then finish and run the game.
Open reshade with the home button as usual, and then scroll down (after having clicked on the lightroom effect). You'll see a list of color options where you can change the hue, exposure, and finally the saturation.
You may be interested in the top section where it changes the hue. Choose the color you're color blind to (they are labeled), and move the slider left/right while observing the game's image until you find a color that brings out those colors, or rather color in areas where you may have seen gray, or where suddenly some color pops out - not sure how it works with seeing/not seeing color. You can then increase/decrease the saturation for that color as well to balance things out.
Instead of replacing the Pinkish Purple with Greyish Black could we get one that replaces the menus with the Classic Blood Red of old? This Pink color feels so out of place in DA. Make the Red menus and the Dark Blue/Orange Fog that Origins used in almost all areas stand out that much more to me. Not a big deal either way. Thank you for the work you did and do on this mod.
Actually the first thing I tried was to make a red version to match the blight and everything but unfortunately I couldn't balance the colors to look good ingame. The sky and everything startet to look really weird so I decided to darken it instead. Thanks for your feedback and kind words
I gave it a shot, using LIGHTROOM and SELECTIVECOLORv2, and ended up with something quite close to the red color, basically replacing the magenta with red, upping the saturation a bit, adding some dark/black to get that deeper red color, and in the end I ended up with something quite nice that doesn't impact the blues. One thing you may need to do is reduce the green saturation a little bit, or just change the hue slightly to counter the green becoming more prominent when reducing magenta. FYI - I also edited the red/orange a bit to ensure the orange/brown colors actually look orange/brown and not that weird yellowish/green color they always use. In LIGHTROOM I basically just pushed the magenta hue all the way to the red (right). The rest is all done in SELECTIVECOLORv2.
NOTE - this was done with HDR on...with SDR the tweaks are a bit different, but similar enough. In SelectiveColorv2 you just drop the Magenta, add some darkness and saturation, add darkness for red, and tweak the orange a little different if the leather color annoys you. The sky (color and clouds) looks the same.
The problem, though, is that the vanilla magenta filter sometimes suit better. It really depends of the atmosphere of the scene. But by simply toggling the reshade on/off (by pressing "delete" key, for info), it's easy to get the best color filter for every situation.
You can manually change the type of effect you have, just by tweaking the effect settings. I tend to always use LIGHTROOM from the QUINT channel (after installing reshade, it'll ask you which effects you want, just look for QUINT, check the box, deselect everything except LIGHTROOM, finish the install, run the game). The color options are limitless here. You can change the individual hue of each color, their exposure, and also saturation. You can remove ugly tints, or simply change the color scheme of the game entirely.
To achieve the effect of this mod, all you need to do is decrease the saturation of the magenta. Another way is to change the hue of the magenta color - playing around with the slider can give you some interesting effects. For example, if you change the hue to something more similar to blue, the magenta blends in with existing blues. You can then simply change the saturation of the blues to balance things out, or make them pop even more.
Or maybe you want the magenta to be more reddish - you can do that too. Just play around with the sliders while in game and see what happens. There is a convenient undo button next to the slider so you can always restore the default value.
1) Download Reshade from their site, and run the app. 2) Select your game from the popup, DirectX option 3) From the long list of shaders/channels, all you really need is LIGHTROOM, which you can find in the Quint channel. Just looks for Quint from MartyMcFly, click on the box, deselect all except for the LIGHTROOM 4) Click next. It will download the file and tell you when it's all done. 5) Click finished 6) Run the game 7) Open the ReShade overlay with the HOME button. 8) Click on the SETTINGS tab, and there you can change the hotkeys to open the overlay, and to turn effects on/off to your liking. Just click in the box, press the key you want it to be and it's done. 9) In the main tab, click on the lightroom effect, then in the bottom box, you'll see a long list of stuff you can edit. 10) Scroll down until you see MAGENTA SATURATION - All you do here is drag the slider all the way to the left. You are now done.
OPTIONAL 11) You can play around with other colors here as well. You will see each color listed 3 times. The top ones change the hue, the middle group the exposure, and the bottom half the saturation (where you moved the slider). 12) Play around by changing the MAGENTA HUE for example, to change it from purple to a different color instead. You might like this more than simply removing the magenta. Make sure you turn the saturation back on first, or even all the way up to exaggerate it so it's easier to tell which color you're picking.
There are a bunch of other settings in that FX such as being able to change the blacks, whites, shadow darkness, black and white points...it's all-in-all a great shader/FX tool that you can use instead of using 10 different ones together.
