*A detailed guide on how to use DAVE can be accessed downloading the update zip file.

*There's also a guide for body/head mashups in optional files. Please make sure when you're editing your body/head mashup that you're only doing it in your character area which will always appear first when searching "shaderBodyBaseTexturesSetList" in your json files.

Hello and welcome to our take of a save editor for Dragon Age: The Veilguard or "DAVE" for short. Right now it's a beta version to see if it works for everyone across the board and to test for bugs. So disclaimer! With this being an early version of our editor, there might be hiccups or glitches when editing your save files. If you're fine with that, just make sure to have a folder with backups to all your save files in case anything goes astray.

How to download:
When downloading for the first time, unzip the file and extract it wherever you want the editor located. Once extracted, open the "DAVE Updater" folder. Inside you'll find various different files but the only one you should pay attention to is the "DAVE Updater" file. If this is your first time downloading, running that application will load the most current version of the save editor. If you already have the updater, running the program will update your DAVE program directly on your computer to the newest version if you currently have an outdated one. This shouldn't be an issue anymore but if your antivirus software is giving you trouble, just turn it off when you download and install for the first time. You can turn it back on after that.

Once the file is downloaded and you open the save editor, upload the save file you wish to edit. Once you hit save in the editor, it should automatically be saved directly to the game. If you don't know where to find your save files, typically the file path goes along as: Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age The Veilguard\save games\

Features we have right now that you can edit are:
  • Ability to change inquisition decisions & inquisitor appearance/details
  • Ability to change your faction at will
  • Ability to change your class at will, allowing all races to all classes
  • Ability to change your race
  • Ability to change Rook's gender and pronouns
  • A general skills tab for Rook, allowing you to give yourself more available skills points or to just check off which skills you want(this includes specializations.)
  • A general quests tab to change choices made in the game or change quest states
  • Editing amount of skill points for companions
  • Editing companion rank
  • Editing caretaker rank
  • Editing faction strength
  • Ability to upgrade or downgrade your weapons
  • Ability to give all Rooks access to lineage/race locked hairs. Download the detailed guide in the files tab.
  • Ability to further edit Rook to have different  lineage/race heads be compatible with different lineage/race bodies.
  • Editing amount for all currencies in the game
  • Editing collectables in the game. We have it that you can edit if you found/opened chests but we need people to test how that plays out
  • Access to all equipment and appearances in the game
  • Ability to force load "Inner Demons" and "A Moment's Peace" for a hardened Lucanis. Please don't try loading these quests when it's past the point of the quest being possible.
    Spoiler:
    Show
An example is if you try loading Inner Demons when we're already at a Murder of Crows, the game will glitch. Don't try loading A Moment's Peace earlier in the game when it wouldn't happen at that point in the plot either. Please just don't.

  • Spoiler:
    Show
A seamless way to keep Manfred alive and have Emmrich be a lich.
  • Spoiler:
    Show
The ability to keep everyone alive in the endgame.(small bugs in this infant iteration.)
  • Toggling Hero of Veilguard for companions. Only toggles that flag. You still have to select the hero skill you want where all your companion skills are in the save editor.
  • Change party members straight from the save file allowing you to place in Solas, Varric or Spite.
  • Ability to add a 3rd party member, thus giving you a 4 person party.
  • Ability to change your spawn point. Not all spawn points let your companions come with you and there will be some that act funny because you're technically not supposed to be able to spawn in there
  • Removing hardened flags
  • Ability to generate NPC romances active without actually unlocking it directly in game. This is for all of those that want to be able to see Rook's commitment scenes and then have those NPC romances become active afterwards
  • Polyamory/romance editing in general

Known bugs we're working on:
none so far!

Current things we're working to add in:
  • A banters tab to toggle on and off what banters you've heard in game
  • The ability to allow users to edit save files without having to completely close the game.(via our script extender we're going to release separately with the next DAVE update)
  • Direct editing into the save file to alter Rook's appearance beyond what game logic will allow you to do.(there's already a guide for body/head mashups. hoping to figure out more stuff in the future)
Make sure when you are making changes and saving changes, the game is closed until we release the extender that lets you do this with the game open.
This is what we have testing so far in our current version. We plan on updating the program for bug fixes and more features in the future so feedback is greatly appreciated!

In an attempt to clean up this page so it's not so much of a wall of text, all information on how to use DAVE is in the guide I have written in the most recent update zip file. Please refer to that first before asking any questions.

*We don't know how compatible this is with other mods already out there but we'll update on here from those that test and confirm or from the modders themselves if the editor and their mods are compatible.

Remember to always have backup save files and happy editing! We hope you guys enjoy our labor of love and hope it makes a more fun experience for newcomers and veterans alike!

You can go onto my bluesky account for updates on the save editor since we're already working on adding so many more things :)))
