Took me forever to manage to get both SpecialK AND the Music Orchestral mod to work together...
I am using Windows 7 (supposedly thats the reason why I had so much problems making both work together)
I was using ASI loader (32bit version) which worked fine, but I found a much more easy way that worked :
orchestral mod as : xinput1_3.dll special k as default : dxgi.dll
Using the new Orchestral mod loader v3 availlable from here : https://steamcommunity.com/app/742120/discussions/0/1732087825006394099/
Along with SpecialK Odyssey version!! This is the best version as textures loading is much more consistant!! https://steamcommunity.com/app/742120/discussions/0/1735463620103882377/ page 47 link by Kaldaien : https://github.com/Kaldaien/SpecialK/releases/download/sk_special_projects/SK_Odyssey.7z
Sorry for the late reply, i do not get notifications on any of my mods... Thats why I often write for people to msg me directly on the nexus so i receive the email and can answer faster :)
Hummm I always try to have my "readme" step by step as easy to follow as possible... I'd need a bit more info if you still wish to troubleshoot the problem :) Getting Kaladien special k isnt always easy and some video cards or windows version might have trouble sometimes too...
Anyway if you still need help, dont hesitate to write in pm on the nexus :)

As for the answer, I think you might just be using an outdated version of winrar.
If you use winrar5 and up or 7zip you should be able to extract the files without problems :)
I do not understand why the game developers did not include this option in the first place - the game is not available on any XBox system as far as I can tell, so presumably they had to create *new* assets for the XBox controller buttons to show as prompts, and these textures are only about 80 kilobytes (uncompressed) out of 30 gigabytes for the game, and it's not safe to assume all PC players are using XBox controllers - for example, I'm technically using a Logitech controller with numbers on the buttons, but I'm familiar enough with the PS3 button layout that they're easier to follow than XBox controller prompts. I'm fairly sure it's also possible (though a bit more complicated) to use a PS3/PS4 controller on PC.
Anyway, I got it working, so endorsed and voted. I wonder if something similar could be done for Atelier Sophie...
1) go there : https://steamcommunity.com/app/742120/discussions/0/1735463620103882377/ 2) download 0.9.25.11 (important as texture swapping was added in v10) 3) open an explorer window to your game location : ex "D:\Steam\SteamApps\common\DRAGON QUEST XI\Game\Binaries\Win64" (obviously replace D:\ with your own drive letter to locate your own steam) WARNING : do not use SpecialK with NON-Steam version, he is super anti-pirate and will destroy your game 4) drag-drop (or copy) the content of SpecialK 0.9.25.11 7zip file to the Win64 folder of the game (next to the game exe file) 5) drag-drop (or copy) the content of this mod (SK_Res folder) right next to the exe as well
Is there a way to get this to work with Special K 0.9.25.9.7? Whenever I use 10.7 or 11.7, the game suffers from random crashes and I haven't been able to find a solution. All of my other texture mods work fine with 9.7.
i honestly dont know... specialk is its own thing... if you have custom texture working ingame with any version, then these are just textures so they would work too... personally i only got any texture to work starting with version 10... the crashes i got was when my ini file had "allowunsafe"something" set to true.. (which enables texture scanning/downloading)
I'm curious as to how you managed to find/extract those UI texture files with Special K. I'd love to edit a few portraits and some other UI stuff, but somehow Special K only lists textures from the game engine itself.
the buttons textures were given on the page where you download specialK on steam... so i never had to actually download those manually at all... i tried enabling the "AllowUnsafeRefCounting" to true and grabbed a few of my own... there seemed to be some ui in there as well... not sure if others are missing, but Kaldaien really doesnt seem keen on helping out others figure things out :)
I would suggest having a look at "Komodo's Lair - UI - Clean Black" seems he has a lot of the file names sorted out... its much easier to find stuff when you know what to look for :)
Cant make it work somehow. Installed latest SK and unpacked your zip but nothing happens. Also tried to modify the ini as suggested by SK creator on Steam forums to no avail. I'm not running any other mod.
I was having issues as well getting it to work. What finally got it working for me was downloading the 9.25.11 update thing for the SK stuff. After that, I put my mods back into the correct folder and the ps4 buttons were working. Screenshot of the update that worked for me: https://i.imgur.com/W9AfQEq.png
hmm weird i did that but it still wont work, while the hair color and outfit mod does. do i need to edit anything in special K window? edit: nvm it work now
hummm I actually write on the mod page description "you need special K dll injector installed and working properly v10 and up" ;) guess i can always put it in bold :)
Glad everyone who had problems with it worked it out! Took me a while to get both the Orchestral mod working with Special K (probably because of my Win7), but very glad its working fine now! :)
nah your description wasnt wrong, it was an issue with another user on steam who re-uploaded a package to use both special K + OOM together, claiming it was 9.25.11, while it actually turned out to be 9.25.9
one thing maybe later if you have time and i know its kinda nitpicky but can you replace the xbox one controller picture with the DS4? if it is possible that would be great and if not well maybe later xD thank you again.

thanks, i was using a reupload of K+oom to make them work together. it was saying it was using that version, but after overwriting the files and grabbing them straight from the special K thread it works.

thats it... really not that hard... :) good luck!
Your help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Thank you for your help.
I'd suggest to the author to state the required version clearly on the frontpage! :')

Although the real problem was what josjikawa said.
