Merging is just taking multiple mods that alter the same .arc file and combining them into one unified .arc file That way you can use them all together. I assumed it was obvious, sorry.
Hi, i use this sticky for an other tuto important by RiiNagaja
How to convert xml file with arc tool
0) Backup at your discretion (all the damn time) 1) Download the Arctool and the batch files here: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma/mods/500 2) Extract everything into the same folder 3) Follow this bit from reddit: 3b) (In the batch files folder) Make a copy of pc-dd.bat and rename it to "XFS.bat" 3c) You'll now have 3 files in the folder: "ARCtool.exe", "pc-dd.bat" and "XFS.bat" 3d) Right-click "XFS.bat", edit, and replace what is there with "arctool -xfs -dd -texRE6 -alwayscomp -pc -txt -v 7 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9" without quotation marks" 4) Copy Game_Main.arc into this folder 5) Drag Game_Main.arc onto XFS.bat to unpack it (this turns nasty .arc files into pretty, editable .xml files) 6) Open the new Game_Main folder and dig to Game_Main\param\pl\other\PlAbilityParam.ablparam.xml 7) Open PlAbilityParam.ablparam.xml in Notepad++ (not good-for-nothing vanilla notepad) 8 ) Edit numbers to your liking (under my last post, use ctrl+g to jump to the listed line numbers with the specified augments) 9) When finished editing, repack the Game_Main folder by dragging it to XFS.bat 10) Plop the new Game_Main.arc back into your Dragon Dogma directory where it belongs 11) Open game and either: be happy that it worked, or be frustrated that it all went horribly wrong
Hello, I am following all the guides exactly - including the 3b) (In the batch files folder) Make a copy of pc-dd.bat and rename it to "XFS.bat" - and all i getr is a flash of a black window and the this in the log...
Loaded Dragon's Dogma extensions. RE6 tex format selected. Single-file mode. Could not determine compatible file type.
I can't see any way to change it from RE6 to Dragons Dogma if that is even the problem! Any ideas?
EDIT - I put it all in a folder on my desktop (which i have not seen/ heard directly from anyone?) and it has worked. Thanks for your time :)
Hello guys, one question about editing a .xml. If i want to edit a xml file which for example changes the values of augments. How do i transform it back to a in this case .ablparam. Trying to chance the ending of the original ablparamfile to .xml does´nt work(PlAbilityParam.ablparam-->PlAbilityParam.ablparam.xml). Aswell as downloading the xml file from the mods and transforming it to the ablparam via changing the ending(PlAbilityParam.ablparam.xml-->PlAbilityParam.ablparam).
Do I need a special software to change the files or am I wrong somwere else.
Idk if anyone will answer this but do you still need to merge arc files that arent game_main arc files? Like arc files in eq folder or things like that?
This guide seems to be missing something. Once I merge all mod files into one game_main folder, if I try to repack it then it requires the game_main.arc.txt file however winmerge does not create a new txt for me so you end up using either txt file from the original or just the mod but that way it will pack only the files listed in the txt file regardless of the content of game_main folder with merged mods.
Due to this I am unable to merge mods because I have no idea how to generate a new game_main.arc.txt file from the new game_main folder and I don't want to list those files manually.
Just learned here and was able to merge, following this guide, copying the unaltered txt through the pack (merge) phase. Imo it's the file path library in which the .bat file is being guided, that's why you shouldn't create/edit - since you're not making a new folder or file from the original. Try using the original .txt and you good to go. If your error still persists, that's not .txt problem, guarateed.
You can open the txt files in WinMerge (File -> Open -> Select 1.txt -> Select 2.txt -> Compare), this will show you the differences between the two text files, so... 1) usually one txt will have more lines than the other, so on top of the bar, you can click on 'copy all to left/right', then you can save it just close the tab, which will prompt to save or discard changes or you can just remember which is the 'complete' txt file and use it later on when repackaging mods 2) if you have lines missing in both txt files, you gotta merge the missing lines from both txt files into one
(essentially, what's not in .txt file won't get packaged back in)
On a side note, when it comes to merging mods that modify multiple files and you have to pick one over the other, for example, the ultimate mod compilation and higher texture resolution mod or don't blind me... there is a bit more finesse involved in merging. But you can go with your gut and only copy over the textures (tex) and ui text (gmd) files and keep the modified script files from the ultimate mod compilation.
Thanks, it worked. Basically, this is just the basic tutorial, users still need to pick which files to copy since most mods include more than what they've stated in their description tabs.

Why do we need this?
Looks really complicated.
