This works. The only problem is X360CE gamepad config is limited to 6 preset templates.

I have a cheapass but serviceable old Logitech dualshock. By default, the game detects it just fine... only problem is "confirm" is mapped to button2 while "cancel" is mapped to button3 (it's the whole NA vs JP swap thing). The game allows you to rebind all buttons for this type of controller, but does not provide options to rebind "confirm"/"cancel".

If I follow the instructions here to make my controller appear as an X360CE compatible controller, sure, I can swap the 2 buttons around so that now button2 is "cancel" while button3 is "confirm"... Unfortunately, the game only allows you to select from 6 preset templates rather than the full per-individual button rebind option given to non-X360CE controllers.

    Ugh.

Yeah, it's retarded - if you have a 3rd party controller, you run into that button2 vs button3 issue, where swapping it only works for the in-game actions BUT does nothing for the actual "confirm/cancel" actions. On the other hand, if you use the X360CE fix, you're forced to pick from the preset templates, none of which address the confirm/cancel NA vs JP layout issue.

Wtf Capcom, if you allow players to rebind keys then what's the point of forcing them to use preset templates for certain controller types only?

It works great but my light attack wont stop being heavy attack. for a while it worked fine then randomly it just stopped letting me use light attacks. its like the square button wont stop being input as the triangle. I have rebound the controller a bunch of times. any ideas on a fix?

And i found the fix. in controller 2 disable pass through. it fixed the light attack input being heavy and vice versa in the primary skills too.
So anyone having this problem the fix is here. Tat damn pass through is annoying as hell.

Oh yes when remapping to fix anything for anyreason rename dinput8.dll to dinput8.dll.bak then open the 360 controller exe. after you are done just rename the dinput8 back.

For SHIELD TV users: there is no fix for streaming to nvidia shield tv devcie. But u may look in OS files, maybe somewhere you 'll find where you can disable dinput from gamepad.

game crashes on startup. upon inspection, the emulator wont/cant save settings (namely renaming the dll to dinput8.dll), no matter how many times i tell it to save, after opening it again the name of the dll is still set to `asiloader.dll`. also, after inserting dinput8.dll into the folder the emulator completely stops registering the gamepad inputs, and the little green lights on the controller tab goes from green to grey, as if it's not plugged in. thoughts?

U should stick to the guide.

Upont a start, x360ce will rename dinput filed to default asiloader.dll one, you have to rename it every single time when you launching x360ce app. So dont play around, just remap set options, set custom dinput and leave x360ce alone.
Obliviously if u got dinput8.dll ingame folder, x360ce (which is there too) wont registrate any dinput device, coz its a dinput blocker dll. So u need to rename it, then go for remapping x360ce, after that rename it back.
