Hmmm I'm not sure what's going on then. I double checked the preset file to make sure I didn't break something when updating it and it shows the correct effects selected. Also double checked lilium's shader repository and it doesn't appear they were renamed. If you selected BetterHDR.ini from the preset dropdown like you said, I guess just make sure the shaders I listed are checked and you should be good. Idk what happened.
The first part of the game is supposed to be a reimagining of what the Devs tried to achieve with the first game, and you only get to the sequel part by unlocking the true ending. Or at least that's the theory.
Had to adjust a little for 800 nits (LG C1) but otherwise this is flawless. Great job Kickfister, can I ask what your in game HDR brightness settings are at? E.g. how many ticks from center or far left for each.
I kept the brightness/contrast slider at default. And good to know that it requires adjustment for other nit ranges, I've added that disclaimer to the mod description. Glad you like it!
It was made with HDR1000 in mind, idk if that applies to you or not. Maybe you just don’t like it though, and fair. If it does apply to you however, you could safely disable the prod80 shader and use just the black floor fix to improve things. In any case, thanks for trying it out.
I’m confused where people are seeing this perf hit. These are very lightweight shaders.
i tried it again. it was my mistake. instead of choosing preset i was applying some strange filters. now it looks normal. no fps hit. i can't say i see a lot of difference, but i 'll give it a go. thanks. good job.
getting weird syntax error where it fails to compile some of lilliums shaders crashed and when i reloaded it showed some of the shaders not able to load marked red. any fix for this?
That's normal, I don't think the HDR analysis shader works at 4k right now (maybe just in dx12?). As long as hdr black floor fix and hdr cas compiles, the preset is working correctly.
btw what do u recommend in ur HDR settings? i have a lgc2 42 inch oled. i have brightness and shadows at middle what are urs at?. never can seem to figure out what brightness setting too have. secondly anyway to increase contrast?
I made the preset on an Alienware AW3423DWF in HDR1000 mode, so my in-game settings are set to 1000 nits and I believe the contrast/brightness adjustment is just default. I've also used it on my LG B7 (which predates HGIG modes) and it looks good on that as well, though I keep the game set to 1000 nits regardless. I haven't tested how it behaves at values greater/less than that, so hopefully it doesn't cause clipping problems at different nit levels.
Thank you for the preset, the games looks even better with HDR on !
Btw what DLSS ingame upscaling do you recommend paired with your sharpening preset ? Should i put the ingame slider to the max + your "BetterHDR (sharpening version)" or... ? Thx again
As far as I can tell, the upscale sharpness slider does nothing with both DLSS and FSR2 right now. I'd suggest turning it all the way down just in case they implement it later.
I personally use DLAA (or for this game it's 99.9% of native res) via dlsstweaks with preset F, which is what I'd suggest to anybody with the GPU headroom. Some people prefer preset C though.
Okay, I only regret having played 50 hours of this wonderful game without trying this. I actually have a good 4K monitor and never use HDR mode. I was encouraged to try this mode when I saw your contribution and mother of god, it's wonderful. Thank you very much.
Using this on Odyssey neo G7, it makes the HDR actually look good. Thank you. They made some poor and restrictive graphical choices for this game. Some additional recommendations to anyone reading this:
-Disable vignetting with REframework. You can find this option by pressing insert. -FOV mod. I'm using 75 which is a huge improvement over default 60
With these 3 the game actually looks good and plays better.

Game itself is an alternate timeline to the first game, effectively a reboot.
