NOTE: Due to an increased amount of questions regarding this subject: this is a Save Manager, not a Save Editor. So no, you can't update the name of your Main Pawn with this or anything else the game won't let you do. You also cannot move saves from one Steam account to the other. It is however in research to be able to do that at some point, but it has no real progression as of yet.

    Latest version: v1.4.0 (June 9th 2024)
A new version has been released with support for screenshots. Screenshots are taken automatically and can be seen by hovering the mouse over the image-icon on a backup. I've extensively tested this version to make sure there are absolutely no memory leaks of any kind. I'm happy with the results, hence I'm releasing it now!

    Localization support
There is rudimentary localization support, the strings have changed since the last version (v1.2.1). Run the application with -export-localization once, rename DD2SaveManager-Localization-Template.json to DD2SaveManager-Localization.json and start translating! Next time you launch the application, it will use your translated strings. Please share your translations with me once I have the Github repository up and running :)

    Must / High priority
    - Record a video tutorial
    - Open-source the code, since it's getting into a relatively good place now.
    - Make sure DD2SaveManager.json is saved after changes.
    - Add additional exception handling based on log-files.

    Should / Normal priority
    - Finish support for localization after a bunch of translations have been made
    - Detect autosave vs Inn save and name them accordingly, instead of n/a
    - IDEA: Can we swap a normal save to an Inn-save and other way around?
    - Remember column widths

    Could / Low priority
    - Make a screenshot when a save is made (NOTE: Interop using REFramework is in progress, so could make this possible)
    - Web UI for in-game steam browser and/or RE Framework UI (NOTE: Interop using REFramework is in progress, so could make in-game notifications possible)
    - Steam Deck support
    - Change default backup to NOT be in userdata following multiple reports of weird behavior (most likely Steam Cloud Save related).
I've added additional checks before deleting backups - let's see how that goes first.

    Won't (for now)
    - Transfer saves between Steam accounts (NOTE: Research in progress)
    - Transfer saves between Character Editor and DD2 (NOTE: Research in progress)
    - Save editor (NOTE: Research in progress)

Unfortunately no, I have not been able to figure out the particular encryption yet and the way they signed the Steam ID into it.

Not sure if you are still looking into this, but if you do figure this out, it would be awesome. Cheers.

Such an invaluable mod! This has saved my game soooo many times.

Still works with the Jan 2025 update of the game.

For those desiring better control over saves than the game itself provides, this is the tool that you need.  I was almost ready to give up on DD2 out of frustration over the game's save limitations.  Then I found this wonderful saves manager, and now life is good again.

Hey there, I trawled through the comments but I might have missed the answer to this, apologies if so! And in general the tool works excellently, just as necessary as it was for DD1. But I recently finished my first DD2 playthough and got to the endscreen etc. I had started a few playthroughs originally to see which one I wanted to run first, so I switched to one of the other characters to play them now. In switching the active save a got a prompt that told me the number of saves was different, did I want to delete them? I said yes, though I'll admit I'm not sure what it meant 100%. However, when trying to boot up the game it now won't get to the main menu, it just blackscreens forever. Switching the save files is the only difference I made to the game, I was playing it minutes before closing, changing save files and then loading it up again to black screen. Any idea what the issue could be? Thanks in advance!

I am unable to use the Start new game button in the mod menu. If there is a fix or another way to start a second character help would be appreciated

Simply said... without this VITAL mod, playing the game would've been nightmarish and I would've never had had the patience to see it through the end. So thank you for making the game flexible. In the end I didn't like DD2 much, I vastly prefer the 1st, but still you made it much more enjoyable, so much so that I finished it.
    LennardF1989, you are mighty.
