Q: Where can I find my Dragon's Dogma 2 save files? A: Your Dragon's Dogma 2 save files are typically located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\{your_user_id}\2054970\remote\win64_save
Q: Can I start a second new game and then switch back to my first game? A: Yes, absolutely!
Q: Does Savedrake support managing multiple characters? A:Yes, you can manage different characters by creating distinct backups and labeling them for each character. Savedrake doesn't have an explicit multi-character feature yet (Might be added if enough users ask for it).
Q: What naming convention does Savedrake use for backups? A: By default, Savedrake names backups with unique, game-related titles like "Archer Drake.zip" or "Cyclops Arisen.zip". You can customize this to use simple timestamps instead through the settings menu.
Q: How do I customize the notification sounds in Savedrake? A: To change the notification sounds, replace the `success.wav` and `error.wav` files with your chosen audio files, making sure to rename them to match the originals.
Q: What's the best way to organize my backups in Savedrake? A: Within the app, right-click on any backup in the list to rename or delete it. You can also use the "Del" key to delete or "F2" to rename. The refresh button will update the app's current state.
Q: How do I get started with Savedrake? A: Refer to the 'Getting Started' section for a step-by-step guide.
Q: Are there any current bugs in Savedrake I should know about? A: There are no known bugs as of version 1.2.4. If you encounter any issues, please report them.
Q: Where can I send feedback or feature requests for Savedrake? A: For feedback or feature requests, email [email protected] or post here on the Nexus forums. You can also see ongoing work at the Savedrake GitHub repository.
Q: Can you summarize the main features of Savedrake? A: Savedrake offers a variety of features to enhance your gaming experience, including:
Backup Management: Easily create and restore backups of your game saves.

Notification Customization: Personalize the notification sounds with your own audio files.
Multi-Character Support: While not a dedicated feature, you can manage multiple characters through distinct backups.
Organizational Tools: Rename, delete, and refresh backups directly within the app interface.
User-Friendly: Savedrake is intuitive and user-friendly.
Stability: A stable release with no known bugs in the current version.
Community Engagement: An open channel for feedback and feature requests via email or forums, and transparency through the GitHub repository.
How do pawns work with this? Is there only one copy in the online servers and it gets overwritten by your active save? Or can you recruit your pawns across saves.
It would be a good opportunity to somehow take and transfer some things from the past game to the new one. New Game + uninteresting. when you have everything already. I want to start from scratch, but without skills, experience, level, but still get some of my things from the past game
Hello, I just installed the mod following the instructions and the software does not detect the backups :/ I deactivated steam cloud etc put the tree structure correctly. I see the zips with Windows Explorer but the software does not see them (besides if they are empty :/)
EDIT: My save files are not on the same hard drive
Hi! I looked into it and was not able to recreate the issue. It seems to be working as expected on my end. Different hard drives should not be an issue. You should note that empty zip files will not be visible in the app. Could you give me more information like is the app able to create proper backups of your save files? Is it creating empty zip files? etc.
It creat only empty zip folder named like "Drake Ogre'". if i look in the steam save folder from your app it doesn't see my save files which i can see if i use windows file explorer. If you want more informations, I need more precision
I've found. It seems that in my "Userdata" folder there are 2 folders named with numbers. Both folders contain a "2054970" directory for DD2, I simply didn't take the right one... It's quite strange that the other folder contains a backup folder for DD2.
Glad to hear! Please don't hesitate to repost any issues you face. Also, I am currently working on an update which will optimize the software even more. Be on the look :p
I'm getting weird issues after some manual saves where it seems like SaveDrake is constantly trying to force mouse/keyboard inputs. It's not clicking or anything, but while playing with controller the mouse constantly appears and some controller button inputs stop working (I can attack and jump, but can't sheathe or dodge). Closing the app fixes the issue and inputs work correctly.
All the buttons are there I just changed their placemen, and added some colours to highlight things. Could you elaborate a bit more, I might be misunderstanding something
It was already unchecked, tried checking it to see if it would change anything. Tried messing with the other DPI-related compatibility options too. Still no buttons.
Have a look at the sticky post and lmk if that works for you. I am working on adding a few more features to the app, I will fix this issue permanently soon. Thank you for the feedback!
That's one of the settings I tried earlier, still no buttons. For some reason, running it in compatibility mode for Win 8 gets the very top of the upper two buttons to show and are clickable. Tried that with the DPI settings, no changes.
Okay. I think the issues are arising because I made some changes in DPI-related code in the program, thinking it will improve user experience. I will revert back to how it was. I really wish Nexus didn't quarantine every .exe file so it could be released immediately. I have to wait an entire day for them to manually verify the files every time I update/make any changes :(
I have removed the v1.2.2 update because of this major issue. I will work on it, make sure everything is in order then release the next update. I really really appreciate your feedback!
" The save folder location for Dragon's Dogma 2 should be very similar to the following: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\398729345777\2054970\remote\win64_save "
I set the autobackup to every hour, but it actually backups every minute. Also, it continues to autosave after the game is closed (but that's my fault for keeping the program open).
Aside from that, very handy and I feel confident in starting a new save now.
Thanks a lot for the feedback! I really appreciate it! I will test and fix the issue with the hour and minute confusion in the app. It shouldn't happen. Also, I never implemented a feature to stop the autosave after the game stops. Totally slipped my mind, my bad. I will fix these issues as soon as possible in the next update. Cheers! :)
The UI and user experience looks very nice and polished, but I really need to have the option to fall back to an older backup instead of only the most recent one. So I hope it has that feature, too!
From reading the description and looking at screenshots, am I right that this tool creates just a single backup of each character? Rather than a larger archive of numerous timestamped backups?
I currently use a .bat file someone on Nexus provided in a comment section that backs up your save to a timestamped folder every X seconds and deletes any backup folders if over X number exist. I have it set to save every 5 minutes and to maintain an archive of a couple hundred prior saves. Realistically that latter number could be much smaller but being able to fall back to a save other than the most recent one has saved me great aggravation a number of times. Having those many, multiple backups is both great peace of mind and practical.
Thanks a lot for your feedback! Right now it creates a single backup at a time. But you can create multiple backups (and thus have a list of numerous timestamped backups). It does allow you to fall back on older backups (I should update the description hehe).
For example, I created a backup before completing my first set of riddles with the sphinx a week ago. I renamed it "Before Sphinx" from the app. Now although I've progressed wayyyy ahead. Every time I feel like riding the sphinx or showing it to my friends (to convince them to buy the game lol) I just restore at that backup. I have multiple backups. And anyone can be restored at any time.
Can you share the .bat file with me? I want to go through it, see what it does, and maybe implement some of the ideas here and update Savedrake
Hmm, that sounds like what I was describing, maybe? If using your util repeatedly results in multiple backups of the same character (complete with timestamps), allowing the user to create a lengthy list of ever-older snapshots from a single character, that is the functionality I'd hope for.
You can find the .bat file in the comment by steveyaze here! (Incidentally, it's under the first mod I saw get auto-quarantined here. Happens to most standalone "utility"-type mods lately.) After some use I reduced the save interval to 5 minutes and increased the "cleanup_days" to 800. Looking at my backup folder now, I indeed have 800 snapshot subfolders, with the earliest currently dated April 14. Most times you'd only need a few dozen recents but you could conceivably end up in situations where a busted mod poisons all subsequent saves and you don't realize until later, other acts of god, etc. Good to be able to go way back, then.
You are exactly right. It does exactly that i.e. allows the user to create a lengthy list of ever-older snapshots (zip files in the case of my util) from a single character. So you can go back to any point of your game progression. I have updated the description and the screenshots for a better explanation. Please see and let me know if it is clear or if I should make any more changes. Would really appreciate any and all feedback! :D
Thanks for sharing the .bat file. I think I should implement the auto-clean-up feature. I see how it helps. I will implement it as soon as I can.
- the new "Multiple time-stamped backups: " verbiage in description gets the functionality across well imo.
- nice sound fx!
- glad that it saves its settings in its own folder instead of leaving detritus in OS/user folders.
- if the Backup location doesn't exist, better to ask to create it instead of blanking field.
- i wondered why autobackup didn't seem to be working until i noticed the explainer at bottom saying game needed to be launched first. cool that it doesn't make a mess (tons of extra backups) while you're idling outside game (unlike the .bat file).
- autobackup says it starts 5 minutes after launch. i think it would be better if it did a backup immediately after launch (or as soon as user starts the autobackup feature) in case Savedrake's interval timing didn't happen to grab one exactly at the end of prior session. obviously this becomes more important as the autobackup interval increases. if a user set it to two hours and only played short sessions Savedrake may never create an auto-backup.
- very minor but i actually had to stare at the UI a bit before i figured out "Backup" in the lower-right was the important button i wanted / needed to click to make the app do its thing. maybe an exclamation point (ie "Backup!") or other callout method might've prodded my neurons a bit more effectively.
- also very minor but for some reason it feels more logical to me for the Browse and Open button locations to be swapped.
- don't love the filenames. the .bat file's datestamped filenames automatically sort chronologically by default in most users' File Explorers, which is much preferable to a cluttered directory of alphabetical yet chronologically random cute filenames. perhaps could let user specify the filename format (many Windows apps do this) so timestamped folder orderliness becomes possible. user could still append the "cute" names to end or whatever if they wished. that could actually help make the list of folders more human-parseable while still being logically ordered.
- that said it's good that Savedrake's UI file list's sort defaults to reverse chronological. the prior bullet is more of a problem for File Explorer users.
- might be worth adding explicit multiple character support. perhaps you define a named "character" in the program and they have custom backup (definitely) and savegame (maybe) locations associated with them. then you can easily swap between characters and their files stay isolated from each other. the filename list will only show the backup files of the currently selected character.
- since the window is not resizable horizontally, as soon as a long enough filename is generated the horizontal scrollbar will remain forever. better to not restrict user resizing window to their preference imo.
that's all that came to mind after a few minutes checking it out! i didn't test the hotkey stuff.
Thanks a lot for testing it and I really really appreciate the feedback! I have taken note of everything and will try to implement these features gradually in future updates. Some tweaks like the backup location field one and filename format one are easy to implement while adding multiple character support can be a bit more complex. As for the UI, I will overhaul it as well.
For some reason, I was unable to set a single key hot-key for the save backup (ie '/' or 'p'), I had to use a modifier key. If this is intentional, you may want to list that requirement somewhere to avoid confusion.

Lmk if this works. It should look like this:

Had to do rechearch on the other Save-Data mods.
