F.A.Q. (Frequently Asked Questions)
"Can I play this mod online?" - Yes, with LukeYui's Seamless Co-op. As ERFPS is entirely clientside, the other players in multiplayer sessions do not need to have it installed.
"Can I get banned for using this mod?" - It is impossible to get banned using Elden Ring FPS alone. Even if used on the same save used for the vanilla game, it does not modify it in any way that will be considered invalid.
"I can't switch between perspectives, what's wrong?" - If you are sure that the mod was loaded properly and you still can't use any of its controls, try resetting your KEYBOARD keybindings in the game's settings.
"Why is there no lock on in 1st person?" - I have decided to remove lock on in 1st person as it interfered with movement and camera mechanics and was widely unnecessary with all the advantages a first person camera brings. Aim assist was added as a middle ground.
"Why does the mod function best in English? Will there be translations?" - The custom settings options would have to be translated to other languages and function on the principle of string replacement. I can't anticipate and replace the strings in every language. I leave translating the mod to others, who are free to do so and post it, provided they credit my work.
"I am changing settings in the ini, yet nothing changes in the game? Help?" - Make sure you are configuring the correct ini file - the one in the same folder as the ERFPS dll.
"Why do I have no shadow?" - Due to technical limitations I cannot hide the head while preserving the shadow, and the result is often jarring. Player shadow has since been disabled.
"Why can I sometimes see the stump of my neck?" - You mostly should not, however disabling Tracking on Hit can lead to more occurences. It is a result of the neck bending in an unnatural angle in some animation, or being knocked over without head tracking.
"I play Elden Ring on a Linux-based OS, can I play this mod?" - The mod can't currently run on Linux. My long-term goal is to fix that, however I cannot say how long it will take.
With technical issues, questions, bug and crash reports refer to the mod's discord.
Idk if people are just coping or if I'm genuinely missing something but this mod is turbo borked atm regardless of having the dlcfix installed or not, or using elden mod loader or not. Hit indicators double and triple up and don't fade from the screen, keybinds are broken (mod says hold lock on to change pov but this mod breaks lock on so tapping the lock on key no longer works and switches your pov without holding it), config options are not showing in the menu as stated. Can someone lmk if i'm installing wrong or something?
Mod runs mostly fine with the "DLC Fix" via Mod Engine 2. Problem is - it seems the game/mod doesn't recognize it's config file. I can't change or disable anything, but other than that the mod is fully functional. What could be the cause? Is Mod Engine 2 not recommended to use with this mod in particular? I've attempted disabling everything else, to the point of completely removing ALL of my mods. Still doesn't seem to do the trick. Thoughts?
Edit: figured it out, sort of. I assume Mod Engine 2 on my PC doesn't load .dll and related .ini files properly. In case someone else experiences the same issue, here's what worked for me:
Install Elden Mod Loader.
Put "ERFPS" and "ERFPS DLC Fix" files into "mods" folder provdied by Elden Mod Loader.
Patch the base Elden Ring .exe to launch without EAC.
Add "erfps.dll" under [loadorder] section of the "mod_loader_config.ini".
Configure "erfps_settings.ini".
Launch Elden Ring in offline mode via .exe provided by Elden Mod Loader to check if the .ini settings from ERFPS apply.(for me they did).
Install Mod Engine 2.1.0.(I already had it working though).
Put .bin and all non-.dll mods into the "mod" folder of Mod Engine.
Launch the game via .bat file provided by Mod Engine 2.
The DLC fix file makes this work great! I love this Mod.
Now, a "merging" question: Has anyone been able to merge this with a Dx12 mod such as the FSR Frame Generation and Temporal Super Resolution (ERSS-FG)?
If I try to run both they crash, and I get the feeling its Dx11/12 related...
for some reason I'm just not able to toggle in and out of first person. whether on controller or mouse and keyboard, the press and hold functionality doesnt toggle anything
hello i installed it with other mods and without mods and it always shows me ''failed to load erfps" i folowed your instructions carefully but it still aint working what can i do
I don't know, it's a long shot but maybe it has something to do with the huge discord logo/link on the description page? No it can't be that, nevermind....
