ABOUT

The Noble's set Hood is one of my favorite piece of armor from Elden Ring. It's colorful, stylish, increases stats, and goes well with lots of other armor sets. I always thought it was a bit of a shame that it only came in two colors. So, I decided to create a few recolors, and ended up creating a dozen of them. I hope you'll like them !

Each recolor affects the Navy Hood, not the crimson one. It's a bit inconvenient if you want to get the hood as early as possible (without having to rely on other mods or a save editor), but I did not make this choice arbitrarily: I just didn't want Roderika's hood to be affected by the recolors when she wears it.

When I'll have the time, I'll make each recolor increase one particular stat, as right now we're stuck with the + 1 Mind increase.

I'd like to thank HonorKnight26 for his recoloring tutorial, and ZLOHORT, who provided very handy insights on how to edit materials and matbin files.

INSTALLATION

  •  Download Mod Engine 2.
  • Extract it somewhere onto your PC.
  • Download a recolor. Each one comes with two folders: "material", and "parts"
  • Drop these two folders into the "mod" folder located in the same directory as the "modengine2_launcher.exe" (they should be located where you extracted Mod Engine 2).
  • Click launchmod_eldenring.bat to launch the game.
  • Find the Navy Hood, equip it, and enjoy !

COMPATIBILITY

The recolors should be compatible with pretty much everything, EXCEPT with any mod that provides a custom allmaterial.matbinbnd.dcx file.
Before pasting a recolor into your "mod" folder, just check if there already is a "material" folder containing a modded allmaterial.matbinbnd.dcx.

If that's the case, you'll have to do a few things in order to make everything compatible. Here's a quick tutorial.

  • Download Yabber and extract its zip file anywhere you want.
  • Go into the "material" folder of the recolor you selected.
  • Drag and drop the "allmaterial-matbinbnd.dcx" file over Yabber.exe, in the Yabber folder. It will extract it into a folder, named "allmaterial-matbinbnd-dcx".
  • Explore this folder; go to: allmaterial-matbinbnd-dcx\GR\data\INTERROOT_win64\material\matbin\Parts\matxml.
  • Locate the "P[HD_M_1395]_Fabric.matbin" and "P[HD_M_1395]_Fabric_Cloth.matbin" files. Copy them.
  • Using the same process as before, this time extract the "allmaterial-matbinbnd.dcx" file already present in your "mod" folder; like before, it will create a new folder. (This time, delete the allmaterial-matbinbnd.dcx file you've just used).
  • Explore the folder you've just created: just like before, go to allmaterial-matbinbnd-dcx\GR\data\INTERROOT_win64\material\matbin\Parts\matxml and paste the "P[HD_M_1395]_Fabric.matbin" and ""P[HD_M_1395]_Fabric_Cloth.matbin" files. Overwrite when asked.
  • Exit the "allmaterial-matbinbnd-dcx" folder located in your "mod" folder, then drag and drop it over Yabber.exe; it will recreate a new allmaterial-matbinbnd.dcx file. Delete both "allmaterial-matbinbnd-dcx" folders (the one you created from the recolor files, and the one located in your "mod" folder) as they're now useless. That's it !
