Back in DS3, I believe this would have resulted in a ban. Is that not the case with Elden Ring? Is EAC the only client-side cheat detection, this time around, and does it just refuse to allow you online if it finds something?
I may be wrong about DS3 anyway; another config creator said that the DS games didn't trigger on reshade, either. And another commenter pointed out that EAC has specifically whitelisted reshade, which I found devs stating as well, so I suppose the main question is answered: reshade is safe enough.
Yeah, EAC whitelisted Reshade, so it's safe to use. Also if EAC detects any funny business, it just closes your game or refuses to start it at all. So you'll know if something is triggering it.
Sweet. I don't think we know for sure that From doesn't have any other kind of cheat detection in place on top of that (I'm sure they have server-side stuff for things like impossible stats, like before), but between that and people saying reshade was safe even on DS3, I'm convinced.
My current wish list would be to get rid of the vignette effect and the name censorship, but I don't think those could be altered without triggering it.
Yes, Reshade has only resulted in bans from a few misguided games, but never a main fromsoft release. Furthermore, EAC generally will only stop you from playing online if it detects something fishy actively going on, and will not ever ban you as far as I know. You should 100% be in the clear!
Many presets really irked me due to how over-reliant on screenshots or honestly overdone they are. This one stays very true to the original direction due to its simplicity and I think there is a magic in that. Don't try to fix what wasn't broken. I will say personally it does color balance some areas that artistically fit very well with the slight blue tint, but that is where the customizability of Reshade comes in. If someone reading this is new to how Reshade works and want to push or pull something in a different direction: try Reshade out yourself. I promise it isn't as complicated as it seems at first. Anyway, I digress. Thanks for your work.
Does this remove that horrible blueness in dark areas? I'm definitely endorsing this s#*! if so lol... I'm using an OLED screen and I'm so used to dark areas being actually black and it's extremely offputting when everything that should be black is glowing blue >.<
EDIT: Areas are still brighter than I'd expect but it's WAY less intrusive and distracting than the blue everywhere in dark areas, looks more real and less, fucked lol... thanks, will endorse as soon as it'll actually let me >.>
Thanks again for all your work and sharing, Kudos and Endorsed at release!
I'm getting odd "Red Errors" with ReShade 5.8.0 about compiling 2 shaders, SlitScan.fx and SplicedRadicals.fx . I tried Updating and Modifying, Downloading all Shaders again, maybe I should Uninstall and ReInstall?
Edit: NM, think I fixed it by Uninstalling and ReInstalling.
Nice job! It's as if this is how the game was meant to be! I just had to tweak gamma (in reshade's settings), because blacks were a bit washed out. Anyway, endorsed.
Glad you like it. If it's black you want to tweak though, I would suggest leaving the gamma alone and using an additional levels pass instead.
Personally I don't understand the obsession everyone seems to have with deep or even crushed blacks. That's not how eyes *or* cameras work. But, meeting people's personal preferences is the beauty of reshade!
it's not really an obsession. it's just that when i tried the mod on the opening screen it made black background a bit washed out. i mean, i'm not trying to make blacks more black, just to match original idea. sadly, i'm not sure i know how to use additional level pass.
Sorry, the comment was not directed at you, it was just a general thing.
If you open the reshade UI and search "levels" at the top, it will bring up all installed levels effects. Select the most basic looking one, and tweak the values to your liking. You will likely have to set the white point to 255 manually, and then black around 5 or 10 maybe.
I hope this is helpful, it's the best I can do here.
yeah, yeah, i know. no worries! i will try this out later for sure, even though i'm already happy with the mod + slight gamma push. i'm playing on tv with the rgb output / full dynamic range, so maybe there's some misalignment there. anyhow, thank you for responses, and once again - great mod. voted for it in best of the month category. take care. :)
hey bro, i just wanna say i followed your advice (blacks = 8, whites = 255) and it worked like a charm. definitely better than changing gamma, which crushed blacks a bit. now this is perfect. cheers!
Very nice job. This reshade manages to eliminate the sort of grey/blue fog that could feel a tad too present at times, while staying very true to ER colorimetry and contrast. Even underground zones like Siofra look better now IMO. Of all the reshades I've tried, this one is my favorite.
This preset fulfills its promise. The others which propose natural looking colors actually mess with the illumination and shadows. This one only changes the color grading, so you won't be seeing extremely crushed shadows in dark corners.
Looking at ( https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/19 ) really shows you how much blue there is. It's even more extreme than this one, but I don't like it as much for two reasons. 1) Having a little bit of blue left over provides some nice color contrast; things look a bit too samey in that other one. 2) This one slightly enhancing the vibrance really makes the colors look nice, while the other one makes everything darker.
It's a shame they didn't give us a toggle for the vignette effect, and I expect that trying to use reshade to counter it would be problematic, losing some brightness detail or making the menus have a reverse vignette.
Flawless widescreen can remove the vignette (among unlocking fps, removing chromatic abberation, removing the pillarboxes in ultrawide resolutions etc..)
You can disable the Vignette (0 - 100%) and whats more important, disable to Chromatic Abberation which is just NASTY - all this by using Flawless widescreen. (lol it was stated already, sry)

You can use a negative(white) vignette in reshade to offset it though. I used that method in RDR2
Is this just a slider or something you can set in reshade? How do I get it?

Thank your very much for this preset, just what I was looking for!
