FABLE: AEON EDITION
VERSION 4.0
A Fable TLC Overhaul Mod
The Final Update (yes I know I keep saying this, SHUT UP)
By Alexander The Alright
------------------------------
Installation Guide for new players

1) Run Freeroam first. Follow THIS guide if you don't know how to use freeroam: https://steamcommunity.com/app/204030/discussions/0/864943421895490106)
2) Copy every folder* (EXCEPT THE GUIDE FOLDER!) into X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fable The Lost Chapters\data (or wherever your data folder is)
3) When it asks you to overwrite files, press Yes
4) Start a new game

Installation Guide for people who already have a version of Aeon Edition installed

1) Copy the CompiledDefs, graphics, Levels and lang folders into X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fable The Lost Chapters\data (or wherever your data folder is)
2) When it asks you to overwrite files, press Yes
3) Start a new game (this is NOT optional, you'll lose out on a lot of the mod's content if you use an old save)

*The bones folder is TECHNICALLY optional, but if you mess with the hero's bones or restore the vanilla bones folder, there's a chance that some larger enemies may not be able to hit you. And a miniboss will look different. These aren't problems with the mod and I won't be releasing fixes for them!
------------------------------
Known Bugs/Issues

Sometimes spells will grey out for no reason (very rare, I've only ever seen this happen twice, and both times were before 2.0)
Fix: Reload a save
Loading times can be slow in Bowerstone South and Oakvale
Fix: Patience. There's a lot of stuff added to those regions (especially Bowerstone South in 3.0), so naturally they take longer to load!
Sometimes loading a save will randomly crash the game (should be fixed as of 1.0 but I'll keep this here just in case)
Fix: Load a different save or use the autosave. Failing that, just try again and it'll usually work.
Bowerstone North becomes inaccessible from Bowerstone South sometimes (particularly if you get there early) and vice versa
Fix: Leave and come back
Bowerstone South sometimes won't show up on the list of places to teleport to (seems to be rare and only once every location is discovered)
Fix: This tends to happen if your recall point isn't somewhere you can normally teleport to. Teleport somewhere else and then teleport to Bowerstone South - or do the mouse scroll thing mentioned below
Any spouse you have in the Bowerstone South house will act weird due to pathfinding issues
Fix: None, but they won't disappear permanently if they walk through a wall. This MAY be mitigated in Aeon Edition +, but no promises!
If you have too many books, you sometimes won't be able to access them all
Fix: Doing the book collection quest will free up spaces as you give the teacher books. No permanent fix sadly, even though I've increased the amount of inventory spaces for books to something like 999. The scroll trick may work here though
The book collection quest may glitch out
Fix: Don't pick up ANY books that are laying around in plain sight until after doing the book collection quest (unless it's the one on Bowerstone Jail, Hook Coast's lighthouse or the Bordello upstairs, as these books are duplicates of books you can only otherwise obtain once). There's an extra *VERY* well hidden silver key somewhere in Albion just in case you can't fix this. **HOWEVER, I've done two test runs for 2.0, while picking up custom books and it's always worked for me. TRIPLE CHECK you've found every book.**
Having lots of weapons/armour/items makes the inventory screen messed up, and it won't let you scroll to the bottom
Fix: This is a vanilla bug. It's temperamental, but anecdotally, if you click to open a menu and flick your mouse down as you do it'll shoot you right to the bottom. Alternatively, sell any NPC drop weapons or gifted weapons from spouses to free up space OR scroll to the top of the item catgeory, equip a weapon/armour piece from that slot, exit the menu, enter again and do the scroll thing! **OR just go to the banker NPC wandering around in Lookout Point. You can "buy/sell" things to him for free and his stock never updates!**
Some weapons (like Minion weapons, Scythe's Scythe, and The Grave Mistake) look weird when sheathed
Fix: Unsheathe and sheathe it again. It'll disappear; this isn't a bug, it's just the only way to fix this issue!
Some of the folded meshes (the meshes you see in shop inventories) of new armour pieces look a bit off
Fix: Not a bug. The textures I've used for the new guard/bodyguard sets and bandit sets are from the NPC themselves and weren't designed with folded meshes in mind. Everything looks normal when worn!
Some of the hats have dodgy clipping
Fix: None. Any hats that have dodgy clipping (besides the minion ones) should only look weird when viewed at unnatural angles/angles not accessible without FableMenu/freecam
When picking up some weapons/armour or selecting them in the inventory, the mesh isn't centred.
Fix: None. This is purely a visual thing, and I can't be arsed to go through each mesh/"folded" armour mesh and fix it!
The new Grey House Demon Door may not do his introduction speech
Fix: None, but he should still have different lines per level (or 2 levels) of renown.
Enemies are now chasing me/spawning out of bounds. Traders are also walking out of bounds instead of through their usual route
Fix: None. In this update, I've used the debug map editor to edit some maps. Any maps that have been edited this way will have this issue. The only fix would be to disable freeroam, which goes against the spirit of the mod

Frequently Asked Questions (Please, for the love of Avo, read this - I've answered these questions multiple times throughout Aeon Edition's lifespan! I've answered some of these questions so many times it's starting to do my head in!)

Q: How do I know if the mod's working?
A: There are two things that need to be the case: 1) In the main menu, the "About" section will now say "About Fable: Aeon Edition" and will have some different text when clicked. 2) When you start a new game, there should be a signpost near the player, which tells you that the mod is installed properly.
Q: Will this work with Anniversary?
A: No. And Fable Anniversary: REDUX won't work with TLC.
Q: The game won't start!
A: Fable's 20 years old now and this mod adds a LOT of stuff. If your PC still meets the specs, then check the Nexus page for a list of potential stability fixes.
Q: Are there any custom tutorials in-game relating to Aeon Edition?
A: Yes! During the Guild Training, go to the top of the stairs above the map room. There'll be some books there with a few little tips. Apart from that, this readme and the Guide folder should be helpful.
Q: Is this a difficulty mod?
A: Not really, but it is quite a bit harder than base game (especially early on). I've played through it without dying several times now and I'm not a pro gamer or anything, but YMMV. If you're finding it too hard, play cautiously, EXPLORE, and use every tool in your arsenal. Resist the urge to grind, as enemy spawn difficulty is based on the total amount of experience you've accumulated!
Q: Where are the new silver key locations? Where are the dolls? Where are the new silver key chests you've added?
A: Check the Guide folder.
Q: And what about enemy resistances?
A: See above.
Q: Is this compatible with _______?
A: Probably not, and I'm not offering any support if you install two overhaul mods at the same time and break the game! FableMenu, reshade presets, most retexture mods, most mods that edit the exe itself, and any other TLC mod made by me are both compatible though.
Q: I'm not getting experience!! Help!!
A: You have a Ravaging Augmentation on one of your weapons. Augmentations with passive effects (Health, Mana, Experience + Ravaging) will still apply even if your weapon is sheathed.
Q: Will there be any more updates?
A: I want to say no. I eventually want for this to end. If you know me, please for the love of CHRIST restrain me if I threaten to make Aeon Edition 5.0 or whatever.

Aeon Edition 4.0 Changelog

General/Fixes/Balance
- A bank system has been added! There is now a trader in Lookout Point who will hold on to your items for you. You can buy and sell things to this trader for 0 cost. He has a unique appearance, so you don't mistake him for a generic NPC and kill him
- The Hero's feet have been made slightly bigger when strength and skill are maxed out. In previous versions of the mod, the Hero's feet hadn't been adjusted, so they looked disproportionate to the rest of his body
- The Pickpocket expression has been added! You can now pickpocket most human NPCs. Some NPCs will have a special item you can pickpocket, but if they don't (or if you successfully pickpocket them once), then successful pickpocket attempts have a CHANCE to give you an item that would normally spawn when you kill that NPC. For example, Bandits can drop Health potions when killed, so pickpocketing a Bandit NPC could give you a health potion.
- Some NPCs now have special loot that drops when killed/pickpocketed for the first time. To avoid exploits, most of these NPCs don't respawn!
- The Bowerstone North woman you can marry instead of Lady Grey now looks unique
- The potential random name pool for some named NPCs (like Barmaids or Mercenaries) has been increased, so you should see more variety of named NPCs
- Every level of Battle Charge has been nerfed
- Some spammable spells have had their exp per use reduced
------------------------------
Quests, Locations & Levels
- Lots of new additions to levels, including terrain changes
- Lots of new chests, silver key chests, easter eggs, signposts and all the other stuff you've come to expect from this mod. Some existing chests have also been moved and/or had their contents changed
- Four new Optional Encounters have been added
- There are now six more post Human-Jack changes to Albion based on what you choose after the fight (3 if you kill Theresa, 3 if you cast the SoA away)
- There is now a way of getting the 4th Regiment Guard Uniform earlier in the game. The Hook Coast trader still sells it in case you can't find it
- Bleached Bone Island has been renamed to Bleached Bone Archipelago
------------------------------
Enemies
- Bandit Archers have had their crossbows nerfed. Level 1 Archers now do 80 damage per crossbow bolt instead of 100 and Level 2 Archers now do 150 damage per crossbow bolt instead of 200
- The 2nd in command Bandit you fight in the Bounty Hunt quest now has a new model and weapon
------------------------------
Weapons, Augments & Armour
- Lots of new hats/helmets have been added - INCLUDING GUARD HATS!!!
- Some new pieces of armour have been added
- A new outfit has been added
- Four new weapons have been added
- The Knothole Glade Villager clothes no longer give evil alignment
------------------------------
Items
- Two new alignment-changing food items have been added: Crunchier Chicken and Golden Tofu. These act the same as Crunchy Chicks and Tofu, but they give far more -+ alignment points and are more valuable
- Some more unique food, potions and vendor trash have been added. These can be found hidden around Albion, pickpocketed from/dropped by NPCs, or as rewards for doing Optional Encounters
- Five new Expressions have been added: What the?!, Violent Flurry, Round of Applause, Sigh and Pickpocket (the mechanics of which are explained above)
- A new hairstyle has been added: The Crimson Warhawk. It's a red version of the Warrior Stripe hairstyle
- Several new face tattoos have been added (retextures of existing tattoos). Their tattoo cards can be found around Albion
- The Gryphonite tattoo no longer has the same texture as the Gryphon one
