Guys I think there's no need to download this standalone mod anymore, whether you want it for itself or as requirement for EcCo mod. It has been merged in the latest versions of RPU. You can't find the info in the homepage but only in the changelog page https://github.com/BGforgeNet/Fallout2_Restoration_Project/blob/master/docs/changelog.md I copy paste here just for convenience but check for yourself:
"Versions 2.4.* contain updated maps produced by Pixote, and relevant script changes. Otherwise, they follow the same patch level convention."
The other piece of evidence is this NMA thread by NovaRain that is linked in the aforementioned homepage. I copy paste here just for convenience but check for yourself:
"Starting with v32, the updated maps are included in RPU 2.4.x releases. This mod will no longer be updated for future RPU 2.3.x releases."
Good research. Yes, 2.4.* should have updated maps merged, making this download redundant. I will confirm later when I'll be updating EcCo for this new version (should have minimal conflicts due to slow progress on mods last 6 months, but who knows).
v30 did not have any conflicts with the files from this package, AFAIK. And yes, until these maps are added into base RPU package, this mod will be useful.
I am so confused right now.. I downloaded Nova Rain's fork/repack of RPU i.e v29u which "is bascially the official RPU v29 with Pixote's updated RP maps bundled." But after coming to nexus, I see that the nexus version of the maps 'Restoration Project - Maps Updated' needs a patch to work with Talking heads & THAT. ...so as I did not need to download maps restored as it already was integrated with the RPU, do i need to use the Talking Heads&THAT patch or not?
Talking Heads & THAT mods are separate from RPU & Updated maps, so yes, you need to install them separately and you need a patch. Or you needed it before today's update of TH, I will need to study it for conflicts.
The Talking Heads and THAT patch seems to break Jo in Modoc. When I talk to him, the dialogue interface comes up, but there's no text or dialogue options to chose, and I can't exit the conversation. Even loading a save keeps the interface on the screen and I have to exit the game to clear it. Not sure if this is a bug, or just an issue on my end.
Uploaded new version from NovaRain to be used with RPU v28. Also recommend to update sfall to the latest version. It contains a possible fix for the crashes some players experience in Klamath.
Guys if you already downloaded RPU_v28 like I did, this mod version will give you troubles as you can see by reading the comments below (after all it is stated in the file desc).
The up to date mod is made by user NovaRain, found on the forum No Mutants Allowed this is the direct link https://www.nma-fallout.com/threads/up-and-rp-updates.217877/page-18#post-4509743 if the link is broken, look for the thread namedUP and RP updatesthen go to page 18 and find post #345, the download links are toward the bottom, just before the images.
My only doubt is that the mod here for v26/27 is 41MB, while his mod for v28 is 8MB, but from his instructions I reckon I need to just use his own mod instead of this v26 one... I haven't tested it yet, I might give un update later on
Thank you. I downloaded the latest RPU with maps from your link and started a new game (this is necessary after updating maps). I made my way to the two locations shown on the images here. Can confirm that at least these two locations are indeed updated correctly.
NovaRain's version is the most current. It's smaller because it only contains changes for the Pixote's new maps and aimed at the latest RPU v28. While my old version here also included all the other updates of RPU nightly, as v27 wasn't released yet at that time.

I considered if maybe the patch for Talking Heads in the optional files section was still needed. I can confirm it is. This is why
I found this in the EcCo releases page:
If you want to use Talking Heads mod by Goat_Boy and THAT mod by BlackElectric1 (valid for TH v3.6 and THAT 0.4.0 only):
...so as I did not need to download maps restored as it already was integrated with the RPU, do i need to use the Talking Heads&THAT patch or not?
but i think you did great job and your maps looks much better than what is in my current RPU
