For anyone versed in modding that comes across this, hit me up if you know how to isolate dogmeat to use independent sound files so it doesn't affect all dogs or at least tip me in the right direction. My knowledge of modding is limited; I've only ever used xEdit to merge conflicts or fix/tweak some things of mods I use, and only a handful of times at that. With my current knowledge, I spent around 7+ hours trying to fix it, and nothing I tried in xEdit would work. I've since downloaded G.E.C.K.; I will see how that goes.

Doesn't seem to work correctly for me - it affects *all* dogs, meaning random encounters with enemy dogs that are completely silent and the only sign you are being attacked is when you are losing health and the audio for a bite finally plays.

Hey, I don't play FO3 really anymore or keep up with it. If you know of a way to fix or know if there is a mod that can make NPCs unique so the npc uses its own sound files instead of global files lmk and I'll update it. Until then, I'll look into it in my free time.

I've been looking for something like this for a long time for New Vegas playthroughs. Granted, NV doesn't have any dog companions "out of the box", but with mod-added dogs like J.T. from "Willow" and Guts from "New Vegas Bounties II" I could never use them because the growling drove me up a f**kin' wall.

    Now I can use 'em.

    Thank you.

This problem you have might be a bug caused by some other mod you using, because in my game, Dogmeat never growls when my players gun is drawn. He only growls when an enemy faction is close by. I've tested this with the unmodded game, as well as my heavily modded game. Dogmeat behaves like he should behave. Only get's aggressive when threats are nearby. I always looked at Dogmeat as an early warning alarm system. When the growling starts, it's time to draw your weapons and get prepared for a fight.

Meh, got like 100 something mods so if it is a bug from one of them I'm not about to fix it if its not gamebreaking :p Usually go high perception anyway so him not growling isn't a problem for me. Though I do wonder what it would be as I don't have any follower changing mods or mods to dogmeat.
