-OK so, I've been working on other projects that use the same basic setup as this (my UFO for New Vegas is an example.) From those, I've come up with several improvements. I hadn't played FO3 in a while so I was kinda shocked with how many of the smaller improvements I applied to the UFO, hadn't been applied to this. For that, I'm sorry. As an apology, I've included a feature that I've been working on for another project: multiple vertibirds. Now, with 1 radio, you can call in up to 3 (so far) vertibirds.
-Radios are now purchasable so don't worry about losing one.
-The one downside is that they're not free rides anymore. You'll need to buy the vertibirds as well.
-travel is now based on game time instead of real time so you can wait to skip the trip.
-no more getting pushed by the invisible terminal when using the radio.
-custom destinations can now be "unset." And will not show up on the travel menu unless they've been set (or set again after being "unset.")
-completely redone radio setup. Some functions can be used while the bird(s) is (are) busy or the player is indoors.
-travel menu has been cleaned up a little
-oh and though all the presets go to roughly the same places, the preset destinations and the custom destinations are independent for each bird. (Meaning they don't land in the same exact spot and you'll have up to 60 (20 each) custom destinations.)

-Removed GNR marker that I forgot was still there last time.
-Terminal menus now exit where appropriate instead of having to back out manually.
-New optional desert camo skin added just for fun. Only use one version at a time, but the 2 custom skins can be swapped out whenever (outside the game) by replacing the 2 texture files in textures->uhmatt->vbcustom

Adds personal vertibirds the player can use as a substitute for (or as well as) fast travel. I haven't noticed any that work this way for Fallout 3, so I made this for myself and decided to share.
You can call them to your location, climb aboard and travel to a small selection of preset destinations (a few more will appear when certain conditions are met) , get out and dismiss them, set up to 20 custom destinations (for each) to travel to, and even call in an airstrike. Radios can be purchased from Moira Brown, Flak, and Lydia Montenegro to use some of the birds' functions remotely. You only need one radio (even if you have more than one bird) but can have several with no adverse effects.
The first bird (channel 1, black texture) is available for purchase from Flak and will be found on Rivet City's flight deck once purchased.
The second (channel 2, yellow and white texture) is sold by Lydia Montenegro in Tenpenny tower and will appear on the road outside the tower once purchased.
The third (channel 3, desert camo texture) is sold by Moira Brown and will appear in Springvale once purchased.
The fourth (channel 4, slightly modified vanilla texture) behind the super duper mart, towards the farm.
