    Error has occured:XD3_INVALID_INPUT /* invalid input/decoder error */

    Error Explanation:
It means the source file is different. It's checksum doesn't match the one patch was made for so it cannot be patched. One or more of your Fallout 3 ESM files are different from the original Fallout 3 ESM files v1.7.0.3 or higher.

    What To Try:

    • Close all programs that have your ESM files open with
    • Verify integrity of your game
    • Re-install your game
In case you're wondering if there's differences between each Steam, GOG, Epic ESM English FO3 v1.7.0.3 or higher:

All identical and I tried the Patcher installer with all 3 versions successfully.

Guys follow the top sticky post for the XD3_INVALID_INPUT. I did a completely fresh install and still got this error and even though it was a fresh install when i verified the integrity of the game files it found 7 corrupted files, after that the patcher worked perfectly.

if you ever get this error on windows 11, you can fix it by downloading vcruntime140.dll and putting it in the folder where Unofficial Fallout 3 ESM Patcher.exe is located.

on windows 10 it told exactly what file was missing, but windows 11 just throws the 0xc00007b error code without any extra information.

I also had Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable installed on both systems and still had to manually download the dll and put it inside the folder where the exe is located.

Any kind soul would make a Linux version of the patcher? Modding Fallout 3 on Steam Deck and currently I'm just doing the modding on a Windows PC and then copying the modified ESMs to the Deck LOL (quite an inconvenience)

You can add this as a non-Steam game and run it that way with Proton compatibility enabled.

Did you ever find the location of the game using the file browser via proton? I have it installed on my internal drive, and I can't seem to find all the esms so I can patch them. The file browser thinks my system is structured like windows, so it can't find /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Fallout 3 goty/. If you could tell me the location while using the patcher that would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sure you figured this out @smellyloser86, but for future readers Z:\ is seen by wine/proton as your root directory on linux, so you can use Z:/home/deck/...... and so on to point to files outside the prefix's C drive.

Hi I have version 1.5 of this mod (English version).  You have uploaded 1.6 for the improved installer, so I need not install this version if I have the previous one?

Edit: Sorry just checked the changelog will be updating

you can import games you got elsewhere into Steam if you have the CD key; Steam can manage them that way

Setting the fixed ESMs path to somewhere else no longer seems to work in the latest version. I wanted to send the fixed ESMs to a Mod Organizer folder like the Viva New Vegas guide for FNV does, but it only seems to overwrite versions in the game folder, and not put them in the designated folder I chose.

I figured it out for both

The Patched Files destination will display the FO3 data folder location by default and it works by changing it to whatever folder you wish

Hey guys, I also have the same problem of:  XD3_INVALID_INPUT /* invalid input/decoder error */ when patching the game, the version of Fallout 3 GOTY that I own is the epic games version in spanish, I already tried to do a clean install from scratch and repair the integrity of the damaged files and also closed all possible programs that could have opened the ESM.

I don't know if the language version of fallout I use has something to do with that, but, I would also like to have an updated basic guide of what mods and files I should have to play Fallout 3 on Window 10, because the guides I find are English speaking and use mods that conflict with the Spanish version of the game, and the Spanish speaking guides are quite outdated with the mods.

Просто сделайте нормальную рабочую версию. \
Ваше "Знаете ли вы, где находится страница описания? Переведите страницу описания и следуйте требованиям и инструкциям по установке." - не помогает!
