About this mod

makes skill books more like F1/2.

Permissions and credits
Description:

Makes skill books reward points more like how they did in Fallout 1/2, reducing the need to min-max book scrounging for a high amount of skills.

In Fallout 1 and 2, the amount of skill points gained is equal to: Skills Gained = (100 - Current Skill) * 0.1 up to a total of 91. With the Comprehension perk the amount of points gained was increased by 50%, up to a total of 94.

In this mod the base formula remains the same but has been reduced ever so slightly, to: Skills Gained = (100 - Current Skill) * 0.0667 up to a total of 86. With the Comprehension perk the amount of points gained was increased by 50%, up to a total of 91.

Additionally, with this mod, each skill book will show which skill it increases (for players who aren't obsessive enough to memorize them), and a skill book will no longer be consumed if the player has already hit the skill book skill limit!

Questions:

Now the big question on nobody's minds, how is this different than exoromeo's Classic Skill Books mod, and why is it so much more bloated than theirs?

Well, to be completely honest I didn't realize than the OnEquip block worked on player-consumed books if you don't filter for the player (freaky I know), so I made ingestible copies of all the skill books and have them dynamically swapped over on pickup. However, after looking into their mod I realized that they don't account for the player already hitting the skill limit allowing players to possibly waste skill books (just like Bethesda!), and because I used ingestibles with dummy effects I could allow players to actually see which book affect which skills. Oh, and also the maximum skill you can get to with skill books is 86 in mine, and 61 in theirs.
