I was in the middle of typing an extremely long comment but it deleted itself because whoever coded the Nexus interface is a moron:

Quick thoughts, the mod is extremely unique for it's time, however several assets are bugged in the mod and it can cause a game breaking issue where items force equipped by the quest are permanently stuck on the character. There is no way around this as I believe my theory is the force equiped version is a different ID than the static object version, therefore you physically cannot unequip it without going into the geck, finding it, deleting it, and reloading.

This mod besides a tale of two wastelands patch hasn't been updated in 14 years, likely 15 and beyond when you're most likely currently reading this. (I'm 20 as of this comment, I turn 21 on may fourth, Be sure to wish me a happy birthday then!)

Fallout 3 modding will never reach the level of fallout new Vegas modding, everything from the old days is still here more or less but nothing new will come out besides independent creators attempting to create a new work, which is unlikely as you would just use new Vegas. Suffice to say the point is primarily while this mod is good, very good actually considering it was made by amateur modders at the time, it won't hold up well due to critical bugs and overly complicated level design near the end.

If you want to turn your brain off and play something fun yet completely nonsensical, find "A devil's wish" and play that on Nexus.

If you still want to experience The Cube, (which I highly recommend you watch this video as the Cube ALSO has a bug where voice audio does not play from the computer.)

Here is a link to alchestbreach's videos on it, he is a legendary creator in the community who has been playing actively since the release date of fallout new Vegas. (Add the beginning with https)

All of this is my opinion which may differ greatly from yours, but I cannot recommend this mod due to incompatibility with modern mods and severe game breaking bugs that will never be fixed. (Even after a supposed patch I still had the same issues lol)

TLDR: good mod for the time, bad experience because of crippling errors. Hope the creators are doing very well to this day. Please support the developers (I believe) and their new projects.

Hi! So after years I played this great mod again and I found only 17 holomarks. What I missed?

As a standalone concept, this is quite good and worth playing all the way through - which is far more than most FULL GAMES can say for themselves.
In the context of being a MOD for one of the JANKIEST ENGINES EVER, this is genuinely incredible.  Absolutely worth playing.  There's even a TTW version.

only downside is a few parts can get a bit obtuse and the ending guns are more like experimental joke weapons than anything.

This is an incredible mod! One of the best story related mods i have ever tried for any Fallout game! But the "rewards" in the end are it's huge downside! Not only because they are overpowered, but also because they used textures and meshes of existing guns and it just doesn't bode well with how unique the rest of the DLC looked in comparison! It was like it is it's own game right up until the point, where you get to "reward chamber" with all those containers...I wish these balance runing rewards weren't a thing, but at least the journey itself is incredible, so i'll give it that!...

2021 and what a mod, there are few mods out there which make you wish you could just restart it again without having played it.

It's really wonderful, full of mystery and confusion, the story is good, the gameplay is good too, especially the parkour parts and puzzles

In the event that anyone reading this encounters the bug where the vertibird sequence goes incorrectly, I'm leaving this message. Most solutions my friend and I playing this found here did not work, but I promise you that when we ran into this issue, this solution worked for us. I don't know why it happened, but when we were dragged into the vertibird, we never made it all the way. The door closed on us. Then we were taken to a tunnel but stuck on the ground. If this happens to you, do the following:

    open the console and type:
    "player.Removescriptpackage aaCubePlayerFallsDownPackage"
    press enter
then type this into the console:
    "player.moveto xx050271"
however, replace the xx with what CubeExperimental is in your load order (for us it was 15 but it will vary)
    press enter

The idea is that the first code will get you back on your feet, and the second one will take you where you're actually supposed to be. Finding the cell proved to be a pain for us and never seemed to work for us, so we just opted for the corpse within it.

Pretty cool mod, the usual high SureAI quality, but I agree with some of the comments I've read that it is confusing and a lot of trial and error. Of course, it is meant to be confusing... anyway, I've run into a few minor issues, partly because the mod expects the original values for some parameters like fall damage, others I could solve by loading a previous savegame (could not pick up the conductors at a certain point and had to go back to the previous map). Radiation also was a problem for me, and it would be better if the healing stations would heal radiation as well. Also, since you don't have access to your items and most skills, you are practically playing a different game... still I enjoyed it for the most part.

So...nearly ten years after release I finally played this quest mod, and I loved it and wish I'd tried it earlier. I skipped it forever because I never saw the Cube movies (not a horror fan) and I figured it would be mostly fanservice to that. In reality, it feels much more like the Portal games, and stands very well on its own; I didn't feel left out from not seeing the movies. Voice acting was professional quality (seriously, the best of all the fan mods I've played), cutscenes and transitions ran smoothly, the story was well told in a minimalist way, and I didn't run into any bugs at all. For anyone on the fence about trying this, it's definitely worth a play through. There is some trial and error dying in the early stages (if there was a numerical pattern I never figured it out, the visual cues were usually enough) but the later parts were more straight exploration. A very few platforming jumps could be frustrating, because the game controls are not the best for it, but most sections had plenty of leeway. I found all the holotags in one run, so I don't think it has a lot of replay value, but it was a really fun few hours.

Fair warning, it will not play nice with "realism" type mods that make you take extra fall damage or radiation damage and such (like FWE or Simple Realism), so make sure you turn them off temporarily or do a quick playthrough without them. Other than that I have a fairly large modlist and it didn't interfere in any way, since it's pretty self-contained. (The front door overlapped with another mod-door but they were both easy to access.) Rewards at the end are massively overpowered but I just played with them a bit for fun and then chucked them in my home locker so as not to break my game.

PS- For anyone worried about the installer, just set it to unpack in a temporary folder which can then be re-packed with 7zip or such for use with Mod Organizer or whatever manager you use. It doesn't make any system changes or anything.

After the helicarrier (Or whatever you call it) takes me away at the end of the cube, it teleports me to the middle of nowhere staring at a fence and I can't move! I tried installing the bug fixes on top of that and nothin. Any ideas on how to fix this cause otherwise I'm stranded in the cube forever

I know this is incredibly ancient but when I was searching for a solution to this exact problem I found this post. So hopefully if ever in the future someone stumbles upon this here is how I was able to correct the issue.

      [spoilers]
Load your save before the rescue attempt and go through the cutscene. When you wake open the console and toggle god mode on, "tgm". Then "player.setpos z 22654.73". You should trigger the next part of the escape and proceed through as normal. Toggle god mode off once you transfer to the next map.

I assume there's some sort of mod conflict causing this problem or perhaps I broke a prior script. Hope it helps.
