more than triple the base damage makes it sound kinda op. i use it for what i think is it's most realistic purpose, which is cutting down swaths of ghouls and rodents. they have no base armor and get shredded. idon't expect a little hand held chainsaw to destroy a deathclaw or an armored soldier, unless there's a mod that adds some razor blades or something like in the new vegas one.
On the other hand, we've been exposed to the idea that "chainsaws are scary, effective weapons against humans" from media for far too long, that seeing a non-deadly chainsaw actually breaks suspension of disbelief regardless of its accuracy.
And frankly, if Bethesda bothered to add a MILITARY chainsaw knife to begin with, it means that they too subscribe to the "chainsaw is deadly" trope.
Eh not really sure. I could grab the texture and convert it to a 4k size easily but I don't know if it would scale correctly...I can play with it and see what happens though.
Yey! I've been looking out for a mod that increases the damage of the ripper for a few months now but i've never got round to actually going ahead and finding a mod that does so until now. Cheers pal!
If you want the ripper to be awesome, you just need one with the bleed legendary effect (ripper of wounding.) With it's insane attack speed you can stack up a bleed that'll take down anything with just a couple seconds of hitting it.
Also Furious. Either or and it becomes the best melee weapon in the game and you don't need to waste perks-points on LUCK or its Perks due to how that weapon works.
The ripper is already useful at base 4 damage. Gotta remember, it has high DPS because it is a fully automatic melee weapon. Ripper upgrade is OP as heck for a stealth melee build as is.
There is no silent melee weapons in game (i mean not their names, like silenced knife mod, cos it doesn't make ur knife silent (= ), but it doesn't matter, u can sneak with all of them, melee weapons will just draw a bit more attention than guns with silencers.

But, Game-Logic + "Balance" means a "Handheld Chainsaw" is somehow a less effective weapon than your average baseball bat. XD
Chainsaws dont work that well on human flesh fam. Stop watching movies.
