I have been searching far and wide for a very simple thing: to be able to use all my ds4 extra inputs for mod hotkeys, than I came here... and unfortunately this mod is not the answer to my prayers. It's written pretty much everywhere that you can't use keyboard while you use the controller, it is only partially true, you can't control the game, but the inputs get though, meaning you can still press keys on the keyboard to interact with mods, for example press P to enable immersive hud. Okay, great, so it means that I can just add some special actions/bind touchpad swipes to keys I want, like I did for Fallout New Vegas, where I have even complex mod functions realized like sprinting? No, for some reason Fallout 4 and Fallout 4 only (out of all bethesda titles as well as many other games I have tried that with) completely ignores any additional inputs (besides xinput) I send via my controller. Why? I just don't understand why it would read a keyboard press and ignore the very same signal scancode or not if it is send from a controller. I have tried this mod (which fixes a different problem to mine, still worth a shot) and Auto Gamepad mod Switch that allows you to switch to switch from controller to mouse and keyboard on the fly (additional controller inputs are still ignored). I am at my wits end, I don't know what else I can try, I don't understand why Fallout 4 ignores my inputs while New Vegas works perfectly, please help.
Well steam added DS4 support now so gone are the days of needing third party programs. And no I prefer the DS, even got a steam controller and still no xbone.
really i don't think they added the same lvl of support that DS4win adds. i don't think they add the ability to make the tuchpad into 8 buttons to use in-game. unless i am wrong but i did just check.
here is a list of things DS4win will do that steam will not. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- use the tuchpad as a trackpad for mouse control. use the tuchpad as 8 differnt buttons. use your DS4 wireless over Bluetooth. change your buttons to keyboard and mouse buttons. control the light bar on the DS4 controller. (turn it off or use it to tell the battery life) use the PlayStation logo as a useful button.
they are adding more support to the ds4 controller next year, but it will only work with wired or if you get the official ds4 dongle. with this you can just use Bluetooth.
there's also another free program called input mapper, it has a ton of other options as well... it's what I've been using forever and it works with bluetooth and steam. just so ya know...
An odd glitch I found, that sometimes it won't understand L3 and R3 (clicking on the thumb sticks), like it will hold my breath when looking down a scope, but I can't click L3 to start running. One work around I found was putting sneak and run onto pressing the left and right of the track pad. Also from time to time it won't want to work, which I found going into Steam, under Settings, and controller support, uncheck PS4 controller, check X-Box, exit the controller support and then go back in and uncheck X-box and recheck PS4 and it'll start working again. Not sure if either of those happen to others, or if I helped at all, but, it's stuff I was experiencing so, share the knowledge ;)
As far as I figured out, DS4Windows does natively support the multi key function, if you get into the macro stuff, yet. Also issuing hotkeys will be done best by downloading an already existing hotkey mod, guess it was called "Additional hotkeys" here on FO4 Nexus. DS4W is capable of tracking and using those keys as well.
Otherwise there is a simple way assigning different buttons onto the touchpad section, for the swipe and for the pressure aspect by simply creating a profile, pressing the corresponding key on the touchpad and reassigning them to the keys everyone desires by pressing the respective keyboard key.
What this mod is actually doing is using F4SE to enable the ability to use the keyboard and gamepad inputs at the same time, which is not a native function within the game. Everything else past that DOES require DS4Windows (and a hotkey mod if you want even more functionality). This mod is something I've been waiting for forever. Thank you so much for this (@author), my man!

checking out the program you suggested..

I installed CustomControlMap.txt to Date/F4SE, booted the game using the latest f4se_loader and nothing.

I don't see any kind of use in this mod.
Am i understanding right: this mod lets me also use my MOUSE while using a controller?
This would be absolutely awsome!
Any confirmation? I dont find the answer in the description...
Thanks!
