To make an issue help request you must have followed accurately all the suggestions section in description.
Explain the issue, as much accurate as you can.
Link an image or a video if it's a graphic/visual/performance issue
Link your load order and your main pc specs using the text type below and replacing the ( ) with [ ]
(spoiler) Your load order (/spoiler)
Do the same for your pc specs.
ATTENTION:
Of course in the load order i don't wanna see any plugin that is not on the list, because i can't replicate the issue if it comes from a mod you added on your own.
To better avoid issues, do the mod list as is, test if it all works, then ask me all the mods you wanna add and i'll tell you if they are compatible, if they are not, how to fix issues with it, where to put it in load order, if there's a mod that is better than it and do the same things and such.
Don't do things on your own if you are not sure about what you doing or what you installing and if you are not experts of conflicts between mods.
Almost 2025 and still using this guide every single time I start modding my new FO4 installation. The bethini settings are mandatory no matter what. I hope you are doing well man.
Unluckly it's very sad to keep this page active knowing that it might not work or reflect current modding scene, i only keep it for historical purposes but it's a real shame.
Very happy you still can find various sections still worth a guidance to relate to in your custom library.
Next gen update or whatever uses a new BA2 archive format. For Step 1: Textures Optimization to work you need to download the updated creation kit and overwrite the files for Archive2 in the WorkBase folder. Otherwise it will only build ba2 files for the DLCs.
At this point would be better to just revert the update, seen there are mods for it extremely downloaded, might be the most efficient way to handle with mods at the moment.
It's crazy how they spent years bothering the community every week, and now even further with different texture format.
The script will unpack the original .ba2 files, then will overwrite the exact named files from the original folder with the files from the mod and then will pack it back.
So in the end, in the original .ba2 files you will have the modded files of the same name and same content inside, no more, no less.
This of course is not optimal with mods that add textures not as replacers of original files, for that we add them later after the step 1 in order to have a textures folder that is of small size instead of being 40gb because of many textures that could be integrated in the .ba2 files.
However as ProjectCZero said, i have no clue if they dared to change structure after the next gen update.
I think maybe he is referreing to certain files they integrated from my mod in their creation kit that should give similar result. However i actually never downloaded it so i wouldn't know of that.
I'm really happy to have some kind of news about you BRB. I tried on discord but you disappeard, in fact you told me you will eventually. This guide is a museum and I mean it in a good way. So many memories, so many time spent with you asking and exchanging. I wish I could turn back time and revive this time we share with this guide. Anyway, I stopped playing Fallout 2 years ago but I decided to start again after coming to this page. Guess which guide I will follow? Cyber is doing an amazing job with the Revisited one but it's still not finished. I also exchanged a lot with him sometime ago and have to say he's a great dude. Always available and very cool. For sure I will install again FO4 with "his" guide but for now I'm back to the roots and happy about it. Thx for all this amazing work you've done with this guide and if you ever want to chat again you know where to find me. Un abbraccio forte.
Ahw thank you man, i actually remember you username. I still receive to this day a lot of comments of appreciation in the way i designed the mod page, from text fonts, to colors for all colorblinded types, to organization and to the amount of help given everyday.
About the discord, i don't know what happened, as it was years I stopped using it and in logging again i never had it available anymore.
Cyber has been always interested in testing various mods and creating his own upgrade to this which instead aimed to be extremely safe and essential with the least amount of issues possible that mods inevitably create the more they are. I can vouch on the personality back in the day that surely seems appropriate to helping people and for this type of projects, i altough never tested his mod list so i can't say that, but if he's helpful you can get it working just fine.
Yeah i only keep this page up because i constantly receive appreciation of it as a whole, working or not, even if it is a daily pain to know it's no more updated and because as you say it was even a better period overall. Nowadays mods are given automatically which work really bad as i could test, and they are extremely annoying to iron out from eventual issues. Modding in general is something i'm no more that happy to deal with, badly optimized games nowadays will receive patches due to backlash, textures optimizations are a bit less useful now with more vram capable cards and dlss scaling resolution down properly to reduce also vram usage. SSDs are a thing now compared to when i started the mod page, so while always important to use the workbase to pack textures in the .ba2 files, it was much more useful on hdd.
I still am tuned on various modding project for games of the 2010s but nowadays it is not something i totally am tuned on overall.
This mod list is last updated in 2019 mate. Unless you use certain parts with some expertize in modding, it's hard to copy this and have it all working.
However, if you only made the step 2 mods, that of course is not going to work, as the mod page is structured in a way that many mods from later steps have hard requirements from previous ones, in a way that all ends up complementing eachothers nicely.
Some numbers or what version to download are now outdated, but if you follow the principle and download the latest, can still find all working. The textures part is independent of the game version, and will still work for instance, as many mods in the list, is mainly due to the script extenders or framework tools some mods rely on that need to match the game version to the latest.
I think something is wrong with the download link it wants to take several hours and eventually hangs and then my bandwidth outside this download normally greater than 100MB/s goes into hundreds of KB and I cant even refresh browser pages.
There has been a major traffic in fallout 4 modding scene, and loads of gbs have been downloaded.
Considering this is one of the most downloaded page in the modding scene as of this week, and considering the large amount of textures given for you to download, i can understand the site having problems to keep up.
These mods should download like any others in terms of speed, as it's their servers in any case.
If not, really try to wait a while, you can always add them at any moment to your game as they overwrite the original files, you can even add them once you started your game.
Very sorry for the inconvenience, i understand there's a bit of hype for the Fallout serie, and probably that is causing major server overflow. Hopefully gets resolved soon for you to enjoy.
The discord of the people who claim to have the updated version of this modlist is atrocious. It requires someone jump through 15 hoops just to look at a mod guide. I actually couldnt get it to work. At this point you need a guide just to view the guide. Why I need to read community rules for a community I have no intention or desire of ever talking to just to access a guide is beyond me. If anyone is reading this in 2022, you can safely disregard this mod guide.
Wasn't difficult tbh. I wanted to check this out for for the LO specifically and the guide was kinda right there once you joined the discord. You agree to the rules (which is pretty much a standard) and set your role on the server to fallout 4. Click guide.
The guide itself is in need of an update, sure, but its decent enough to get stability in a modded game with some nice rules of thumb to make sure you don't stumble over the same issues other people have experienced.
They have people who are working on making an updated version of this modding guide, but at the moment it's an unfinished mess. Their current guide available on the discord as a PDF is very outdated and you'll have to find several notes, pinned messages across various channels and alternative downloads for mods or fixes to complement the guide or outright replace sections of it. If you go through only the guide, you'll be unable to use or even find a lot of the mods and fixes required or they're simply outdated and don't work anymore or at least won't work well.
Yeah sorry guys but i stopped mantaining it myself years ago, keeping this updated takes so much time and for people who were present when this was a things it was great, now i understand the frustration of this as a whole, i keep this mod page opened because it can still help gathering infos, the console command for repacking and such, i might be back in the future but i dont find modding that much appealing as it was in the past. bethesda games to me are going downhill while i thought fallout 4 would have been the worst possible i was mistaken due to 76 and starfield which dooesnt convince me to the slightest and am also worried on elder scrolls. Other games who offer modding capabilities usually are more limited and so in the end i barely mod games anymore.
Now i do not revision the discord thing, which i presume might get off in some time. But my suggestion is to take this setup as a base, or fondamental. Trying to check the latest mods in terms of what they have been updated with and keeping the core intact while adding or using the mods you like. The support i have been getting all this time off the scene has been immense and i thank you all. That s the reason i keep the page opened but it seriously hurts me to see daily updated mod page for years now being untouched for years.
Damn modding is hard. Thanks BiRaitBec for giving some fresh info here.
Since it's no longer maintained, would you consider putting a big note/warning at the top of the page? And a link to that Discord group so users can try their WIP updated guide. Currently this mod page touts itself as being complete and smooth, and it's clear that is not exactly true anymore. Users should be told right away so they can decide if they want to use something easier or not. I agree this guide is useful to keep up, but it's unfortunately misleading in its current state and I feel bad for some of these confused/frustrated players, that's all.
A mod list / guide I KNOW I can recommend is The Midnight Ride. It is minimal (important fixes and enhancements only) so easy to use as a base. Stable. Up to date. I have their mod list plus just a few additions.
Sorry for the late reply: However, I have been and still am working on updated content for BRB Guide. This is why we linked the Collective Modding - A BiRaitBec Legacy Discord. Keep in mind, though, CM is more than just trying to maintain BRB Guide. The 11-15-2020 PDF shared there is, in fact, outdated. However, I work many hours for a day job and have been testing a crap ton to ensure the next released update will be a great one!
Thank you for the long wait! In the meantime, we still have many of the original server Veterans on board as well as having a very helpful community. We have many Mod Authors active as well.
I know cyber from back in the day when i was active, so i can guarantee he would make a great mod list, which of course can never be just this one updated, but will also make sure he gives his own taste to it together with other mod authors.
Cyber, if you feel to share a discord link here so people go directly to your server, do not feel ashamed of it, i don't mind you sharing your own work.
BRB - Thank you for the kind words. I am working hard and testing as much as possible, which you asked from me before posting on your behalf. I am in a lead position running a team installing infrastructure, cabling, building out racks/closets, installing security and demarc. My work really keeps my hands tied, but I dedicate ALL of my free time towards pushing this next update. It will become a bit more finalized leaving micro-updates for the WIP mods still in progress being used.
Collective Modding - A BiRaitBec Legacy: https://discord.gg/pF9U5FmD6w
Our Community is very much alive. We still have our shared Admin running the back end. We still promote the BRB Guide and the Immersive Witcher List (Constantine and Team). And we have included much, much more.. including allowing the BRB Community to continue to thrive and help one another. We have been working on improvements navigating our server. Discord has been offering many new features lately to assist scams/raids/ridding NSFW Content/etc.
You and your Support Staff have been very kind and helpful while on your server. You allowed me to be a part of, or at least see the communications you shared prior to leaving. This is my way of passing this forward. The next update will land on Nexus, under my own title, as you suggested. I allowed perms to your installer.bat to Rux616 in which he has created BRB Workbase Improved mod. Nice work too, btw! (and with proper Credit) - For this is very important to our server and the partnerships we have established (Nexus, BGS, Schmault-Tec Wiki Group - with others pending/have been invited (Kinggath-SS2/Others).
Hi, I may be a little late to the party lol but just wanted to thank you for keeping this page up...my game was a mess before this so I am ever grateful .
Yeah, feel free to share your link to the page to people who might not understand the fact that it is an abandoned page.
I would love to make an editing for the mod page so that it might redirect to yours, i just dnt have time to edit or to think of a cool design to add that is not invasive.
You don't need to credit me everytime for real, now im sure it's just its own thing. With this sort of HUB we helped eachothers to find a great essential mod list that would break the least as possible, and with that we tried to improve upon it, and to help one an other, especially people who in the past were new to modding and found skyrim community already sedimented too much.
If you respect one an other that's for me already a joyful thing to think at.
Apart one or two individuals we had in those years, i must say all the rest of the community is what i wanted it to happen, and everyone was respectful, kind, none was really impatient, rude or so. That's all that mattered to me when starting the project.
Personally as i say sometime, i find modding in these years very limited, i often look for optimization scripts, or mods in some rare instances, however most of what i need usually is behind paywall on patreon, and i don't use this site often at all anymore.
The ps3/ps4 era was a perfect moment for modding to happen cause devs rushed games on an intricate system as the ps3 (which was the main bottleneck of games between that and xbox360) and they didn't have time to polish it, which modders have. In fact i think apart some exceptions the games i usually play modded the most are those of ps3 or early ps4 era, also 2013-2014 period on pc.
Well.. the good news is I have started a Nexus page for the update I work with.. Unfortunately, time is a barrier for me.. so it is still incomplete. I have cleaned up my Docs channel on the server. We were able to add some final touches to that ENB Preset you started updating and didn't finish you left with us. I also have a converted BRB HUD Preset for use with FallUI - HUD. You are welcome to check it out!
Thank you for sharing this informative piece of work.
I have a question. I've read in various threads (including this one) that it is not recommended to install Fallout 4 in the "Program Files" directory. I do not know exactly why it is not a good idea, but am open to following this advice. My question is, can I simply re-locate my existing installation from the Program Files directory to another location, or would I need to re-install the game? Additionally, if this is possible, can I do the same for other Bethesda titles?
In general it has to do with access to the files, depending on your system and how it is setup, you might find issues with injectors or dll files or even the bat files if you have restricted access to those folders.
It is only a good habit to do it, however i also find the default program installation path just easy enough.
I think the main problem back then was that when i started the mod list, we were using shadow boost injector, which was never updated anymore and we dropped it, but that wouldn't sometimes work in particular when installed in those folders, i think you would have no problem. There was also other systems like windows 7 and 8, so many years ago it was hehe. Hard Drives usually take more time to read those sections aswell instead of say, just desktop. Just an other era.
However i keep reminding people that this modlist is outdated for so many years since i dropped it. If you are smart enough you can still gather loads of useful patterns and info for creating your own, but if you are a newcome to mods and modlists it might not be for you anymore i suspect.
Correction: It hasn't been updated since 11-15-2020.. and has been posted on a discord server. It is still temp pinned, as another update will be coming soon and should be uploaded to Nexus upon release as well.
Regarding this OG Modlist by BiRaitBec AND the updated PDF I have shared for nearly 3 years now.. are outdated. My latest findings while following the PDF update I share: You may use all the updated versions of the mods in use. Some of BRB's original modlist has changed in that PDF. The next update which will be coming out as soon as i can finish writing it will carry some major changes. A new save game is going to be required, or things will simply begin to fail otherwise.
A few examples: AWKCR/AE/DEFUI/VIS-G are ALL being removed and replaced with updated content (FallUI Series - Complex Item Sorter - 4estGimp and M8R Enhancements - 4estGimp Raider Overhaul - One and Super Mutant Redux [No AWKCR] replacers - ECO Redux) + More!

A mod list / guide I KNOW I can recommend is The Midnight Ride. It is minimal (important fixes and enhancements only) so easy to use as a base. Stable. Up to date. I have their mod list plus just a few additions.
Thank you for the long wait! In the meantime, we still have many of the original server Veterans on board as well as having a very helpful community. We have many Mod Authors active as well.
"help"
"I don't actually help, just go here to discord"
Discord is a mess and complicates things to no end
So many people hate discord
Sending people there is not help
It was a nice mods list 2019.
Cyber, if you feel to share a discord link here so people go directly to your server, do not feel ashamed of it, i don't mind you sharing your own work.

I may be a little late to the party lol but just wanted to thank you for keeping this page up...my game was a mess before this so I am ever grateful .

I appreciate your time.
