WARNING 2: Not compatible with "bad guy" Player Characters; e.g. when allied with Nuka-World Raiders
WARNING 3: Not compatible with mods that control or affects companions / followers, such as Unlimited Companion (Follower) Framework, Amazing Follower Tweaks, Quick Trade, and Quick Trade Redux. Better Companions might also be a risk, but has not yet been confirmed. In general, *never* use some other mod to "recruit" Silver Streak, or to manage Silver Streak, or interact with Silver Streak, or affect Silver Streak in any way. Always use Silver Streak's own Controller functions instead.
The mod worked great on my previous playthrough; but for some reason it is not starting the gauss quest on a new one. I tried installing the gaussfix, but that required the esl version of the silverstreak. Removed the esp version and installed the esl; got the warning when I tried to load my save that the esp was missing, the silver streak disappeared and so did the controller from my inventory. I did get the message the gauss fix was initializing, but could not start the quest because the plasma weapon quest had not been completed. I did complete that quest and I can select the plasma weapon on my silver streak. Disabled the esl files, and re-enabled the esp, then reloaded my save. Tried starting the gauss quest from console using your instructions below; used the prefix 30 from the silver streak refid then tried startquest 30000a90, but got an error message saying the quest id was not found. Do the quests have any editor id, to make it easier to find their refs through help "editor id" 4? Can you please post the ref ids for all the quests?
If a quest does not start, then either (1) the required prior quests have not yet been completed, or (2) the player installed something that conflicts in some way with a Silver Streak mission location or objective, which then causes a scripting failure in this mod. Since it worked for you before, that indicates the problem is caused by something you installed after you last played using this mod (or which you installed during play but after the now-broken gauss quest was already completed).
Attempting to [re]start the quest won't work because the quest's scripting fails due to the conflicting install.
Using a console command to "complete" the quest won't help because it is more complicated than that. And there are no console commands which will solve the problem.
The gauss quest fix was for version 1.15 ... so not valid for 1.16 through 1.18 (the current version).
The gauss quest locations include the National Guard Armory for special items, a crashed Vertibird somewhere in the Commonwealth, and a crashed Stingray jet which is also somewhere in the Commonwealth. One or more of those is being conflicted.
Changing from the .ESP version to the .ESL version, or the .ESL to .ESP, will remove everything about this mod and the progress you already achieved because they are not compatible with each other. That is a basic game restriction in terms of switching between .ESP and .ESL versions of a mod. There is no "fix" or workaround -- it is inherent in this game's design and is noted on the description page. So there is no way to carry-over your .ESP progress to the .ESL version and then apply a gauss fix to that.
is it possible to do a standalone version for the ufo so you can use BOTH the jet AND the ufo at the same time? Unfortunately I never got the chance to use your mods myself on my own computer because the battery failed on it but my wife let me use her desktop when she wasn't using it to play and we both enjoyed your cute little rc creations so it would be really cool if we were able to use them all at the same time. Now that I finally have my own computer again I'm planning on replaying the game just so I can try this latest creation of yours. I'm sorry I've been away for ssooooo long.
I've been modding my game for hundreds of hours. I've downloaded and played with a thousand or more mods, and currently have a load order with close to 600 plugins. I've tried every big-name companion mod, "The Machine and Her", "I'm Darlene", "Heather Casdin", and all sorts of others and this had ended up being my favorite "companion" mod of them all. I often find myself not even using other companions when in the company of Silver Streak.
There are a few things I'm a bit disappointed by, such as no in-game explanation as to how the little guy can carry 300-400 pounds of items (Digitized Storage Device maybe?), no upgrades for the storage capacity, and also no capability to craft them at settlements for defense forces, but realistically all three of those are just light nit-picks.
Hey, it's been a while since I've played this game. Wasn't there a quest to start Silver Streak up for the first time or do you do that on your own? I just went to the shack to grab him after completing When Freedom Calls and there are no quests associated with this mod in my quest log. I can't remember if that's normal. Thanks!
I decided to see for myself. I guess I was being forgetful, as usual! Thanks for your great mods! I've been using this and Sparky together for probably 2+ years now.
See Silver Streak's Notable Features via the Articles tab above for the level requirements of each quest. The first requires Level 2 or higher. The in-game holotape might provide that same information.
I no longer remember the details. But likely this mod and that one both alter the same location somewhere or other, and so depending on load order sequence whichever one is above the other will have its changes negated.
for some reason the quests 'Target Seeker' and 'Molecular Disruption Technology' aren't starting, i've finished all previous quests without any issues but nothing happens after finishing 'High-Impact Ballistic Weaponry'. i'm currently level 76
Given that you have completed the Gauss quest and at least Level 40, the next quests should only be waiting to present themselves if one or more of the following is true:
• SilverSteak has been destroyed and not yet rebuilt/repaired • the game is currently in menu mode • the player character is currently in combat • the player character is currently unconscious • the player character is currently talking
silverstreak is fully functional and i've been playing normally for at least 20 hours since completing the gauss quest. i spent a few minutes just standing around at silverstreak's cabin but the quests still won't start
Okay, then feel free to make a copy of your saved game available for investigation. Saved games are in \Documents\My Games\Fallout4\Saves with .FOS as the extension. It should be a "full" saved game, not a "quick" save. Upload it to somewhere I can grab it from with instructions on how to do that, or email it as an attachment to: [email protected]. Have your character and Silver Streak be near the cabin or landing pad.
NOTE: I am often (but not always) able to load a player's saved game and do some investigation, even though I do not have the other mods installed.
Did you actually complete the High-Impact Ballistic Weaponry (gauss cannon) mission, and did you upgrade Silver Steak and receive that mission's completion message?
There is no evidence of completing that mission, or even starting it, and its script is not currently running. In fact the items to be collected for the gauss mission are still in their initial locations.
The Molecular Disruption Technology mission has not appeared because the gauss mission's script launches it upon successful completion, and that completion has not occurred.
The seeker missile quest, Target Seeker, is quietly running in the background, waiting to present itself. And has not yet done so because the gauss mission is not marked as completed.
Currently investigating what could/might have gone wrong with the gauss mission ...
if I reset progress back to the beginning of the Plasma Weapon Technology mission (which you did complete in the saved game you provided), it works correctly and successfully launches the High-Impact Ballistic Weaponry gauss mission ... the gauss mission also then completes successfully, and the Gauss mission's script successfully launches the Molecular Disruption Technology mission. At which point the Target Seeker mission becomes available as well.
So not yet clear why that mission sequence failed for you ...
... although one very real possibility is that you have some other mod installed which conflicts in some way with a Silver Streak mission location or objective, which then causes a scripting failure in this mod.
There might be a way for me to provide a work-around, or a set of console mode commands, that enable you to properly resume play.
oh you're right i didn't complete the gauss quest, my mistake. not sure why i thought i did. i definitely completed the plasma weapon quest though, it shows up as completed in my pip boy and i can select the plasma weapon in silverstreak's controller, so it stops progressing after 'Plasma Weapon Technology' for some reason.
though shouldn't the script still at least start the quest even if one of it's objective cells is edited by another mod? i have no idea what could be preventing it from even starting
i finished 'A Bigger Bang' and then 'New Age Galvanics' without issue after completing the plasma quest
The game does not start a quest/mission if there is something wrong with one of the target locations or objectives. So if some other mod alters any of those from what is expected, then that quest/mission is not started by the game -- the scripting is never run
I believe that kind of conflict situation is what occurred for you. Not my script failing, but instead the game not running the script due to one or more conflicts.
In this case the destination location is the National Guard Armory, and one of the objectives is a ruined base-game vertibird at that place. Either that vertibird is altered by another mod, or something else -- there are multiple objectives there. The result being that the game ignores the request to start High-Impact Ballistic Weaponry.
Whereas when I reset the quest/mission sequence, and do so without the other mods that you have installed, it all works fine for me. Ergo, there is a conflict of some kind between my mod and your installs, and it in some way involves the National Guard Armory.
Install the Gauss Mission Fixer ESL patch from the Miscellaneous Files download section, and then load your current saved game. One or more messages will appear, either indicating success or notification of an abort.
If the fixer declares itself to be successful, you will then need to wait up to a minute for the Molecular Disruption Technology mission to present itself, and a minute or two for the Target Seeker mission to appear. While waiting, stay out of combat and avoid game menus and Pip-Boy screens.
Ideally, this patch forces successful completion of the High-Impact Ballistic Weaponry (Gauss Cannon) mission, enables immediate use of the Gauss Cannon, and ensures the launch of those two other missions.
the fix was successful, a few message boxes popped up and then 'Target Seeker' started about 5 seconds after followed by 'Molecular Disruption Technology'.
i checked my load order with fo4edit and the only mod i have that edits the national guard armory is Heckler und Koch - MP7, it places a few things in the same room the gauss parts are in, so maybe that's the conflict?
When you reach Level 2 or higher, a mission will appear which enables you to upgrade Silver Streak to include automatic self-repair technology. There is no way for Silver Streak's damage to be repaired until that mission is completed, unless Silver Streak is completely destroyed.
When you reach Level 13 or higher, a mission will appear which improves Silver Streak's self-repair capabilities.
When Silver Streak is destroyed for the first time, a mission appears that enables you to repair/rebuild Silver Streak whenever destroyed.
[ see the Silver Streak article above via the ARTICLES tab for a list of the available missions ]
I just redid my entire load order with Buffout 4 and other fixes and I needed a small quest mod to allow me to roam about and test all my mods in different circumstances and locations.I just did all the fetch quests for the upgrades and explored a great deal of the map, got 6 settlements, and 5!! of the vanilla power armors. This would be great for someone who was unfamiliar with the game to have a path to exploring and acquiring settlements and gear in a lore friendly way. Of course the further East you go, the challenges become greater but its gradual. The little guy is hovering over his landing pad in RR (cant get him to land), He is pretty good in a fight. Thank You!

It cannot be dropped or stored (thankfully!).
I spent an inordinate amount of time searching for it elsewhere, so yeah, a tip to any other person who's as much a dolt as I. :)

Thanks so much for this little guy!
The equivalent settlement defenders can be crafted using my Settlement Radar Station mod.
