So, I havent played FO4 for a while, but I tweaked it pretty good in the spring so it ran okay on my older rig. This mod was part of it. Now, after the DLCs, I have quite some stuttering, most of it indoors, probably partially due to the fog. Funny thing though, my fps stays at 24-40, what I can live with (Dont laugh at me, Im not buying new hardware yet ;-) ), but the stuttering makes it seem like 5-10 fps sometimes, while fraps and afterburner still tell me around 30. I read up it, tried a lot, but couldnt find a solution for it yet. While this mod is not a wonder thing, it still helps a LOT. I tried the recommended Dyn. Fog Rem., but it didnt really work for me. I set it to invisible, but still, fog everywhere (or something else?). Now I tried this one again, even though some buf reports are disconcerting, end for the short test I just did in Vault 81, it works pretty well. No crashes so far, and while some stuttering is still there, it got reduced by, lets say, two thirds. So, THANK YOU. Please keep it going and updated.
Edit: So, fyi, on my quest for better performance I just stumbled on bUseHarddriveCache=0, which led to the game not starting - well, the exe started, but no window came up for several minutes. Maybe this is a possible explaination for the CTD bug reposts. Disabling your mod and the game starts fine again.
IF THESE FALLOUT AND MODDER WERE ABLE TO KEEPTHE FOG OUTSIDE WE WOULDNOT HAVE A PROBLEM BUT THAT CAN'T EVEN WITH DOORS CLOSED AND GLASS IN WINDOWS YOU STILL MANAGE TO GET FOG AND RAIN IN DOORS SO IT IS TRUE THE MOD IS NEEDED
i made a made building witha two layers roof and it still rained through it! have a good one MAVERICK
Yeah these idiots posting about this and other mods not working anymore while being incorrect need seriously to shut up. The only thing not working anymore is their parents' relationship which they won't be able to fix based on their modding capabilities
Well, actually yes. If the mod works for a single person then the mod itself works and who says that it doesn't has a problem of load order/incompatibility.
If you find that the fog becomes denser with this mod installed, it may be because you are using other mods related to the environment. Please make sure that this mod loads after all of them, and it should work fine.
Some indoor environments does not take kindly to this mod, where there can appear some weird bright white fog at some distance. I am using Darker Nights mod so Im not sure perhaps if that is the cause.
Here's an example from Parsons State Insane Asylum:
I ran into the same issue while exploring the Vault-Tec: Among the Starswhile using this mod. You can, however, fix the issue if you install Fog Remover - Performance Enhancer II lower that this mod in the load order. So far so good, I'll report back if I stumble upon anything weird.
EDIT #1: Three days later and nothing weird to report. I did forget to mention that I just installed standalone fog remover option via Installer from the other mod, I haven't picked any of the additional options (leaves, mist, etc.).
EDIT #2: Well, it turns out that if you have both of these mods loaded, if you enter an interior cell, save, exit to desktop, start the game and resume where you've left off, screen becomes even foggier than before. Reentering the cell fixes this issue so it's not really that problematic, but it could be an issue if you end up in a large interior cell like Dunwich Borers. I'll report back in case I find something that works 100%.
I second this. I installed it and it worked fine for like a week, then all of a sudden I can't see in the interiors anymore. It's like the mod broke and made things worst. No I havent installed any other mod since this mod. I played for like 3 days in 2 weeks. Haven't had much time for PC lately.
That’s because this mod messes with cells. The other recommended mod in the posts here does not. You don’t want mods that mess with cells as they can break precombines. I uninstalled this mod and installed the other, and haven’t had any issues since.
Fog mods do remove distant fog. You will still see placed mist and placed dust which is almost always paired with placed emittance to make them bright. If you want great locations you got to remove all the bad piled on more bad. Removing ALL cell fog, mist emittance, dust emittance, direct ambient light, lighting templates, and fake placed lights with no source will make your game awesome. You can have mist and such without it being lighted and you don't want mods that add tint on top of all that junk for darkness. This mod will remove the fake fog for you. That is only one issue on the list. If you want all of it fixed go to my Skyrim mods and read the lighting mod and the HDR Bloom Contrast etc mod. Then use FO4Edit and make it happen. Learn to do it in batches and be warned awesome takes time. I already removed Fallout 4 exterior direct ambient lighting for you if you want it. I don't need endorsements I am just sharing info. Endorse this mod and don't insult people that think something isn't working.
I've been using this with ELFX and Fransons lighting tweaks, I didn't like dynamic fog removal because I wanted all of the ugly interior fogs gone. Yes, this mod works and does it by just editing the fog values for basically all interior cells. If it doesn't work for you then something else is overwriting these fog values (some weather mods and some mods that shouldn't affect interiors actually do this too so I had to manually tweak those as well: Darker Nights, Super Mutant Redux, and Backpacks of the Commonwealth for me). Keep in mind though if you do use this mod with ELFX you will need to place it after in load order for the fog removal to work properly. That being said, this mod also keeps intact all of the lighting values the main Fallout4.esm uses essentially overwriting a lot of what ELFX does. So, if you know how to use FO4Edit (xEdit as some call it) you can actually go through every cell these mods affect and copy over the values from ELFX's lighting changes to RemoveInteriorFogs values to keep elfx's changes. Just don't copy over any values pertaining to Fog or else you'll just overwrite what this mod does rendering it useless.
Sheesh - that sounds confusing as hell but I'm posting this in case someone needs it because that's how modding can be. Cheers..
FYI to everyone, drop this mod manually in the data folder instead of using a mod manager. That way it'll be on no matter what, regardless of your load order.

I haven't tried it out yet but it just works.
I want to install a fog remover mod to increase my performance indoors, what is the best method?

If you want fog removed from all interiors without question, use this mod here.
Dynamic Interior Fog Removal doesn't remove fog from interiors that are sky-lit:
EAGnR:
While I appreicate EAGnR's super lightweight solution, I will be continuing to use this!
Nice
