So I decided to completely redo the combat scripts for the temple. I'm overriding a ton of vanilla functionality here, and placing randomly generated spawns when different things happen during combat. The new combat script is 133 lines, with different checks for 20 things, different on death events based on how you fought, and 12 presets for spawned enemy groups that are picked on the fly. And each new enemy type is getting specialized perks, spells, and abilities. Because why not. For anyone using one-shot-kill weapons, I tried to make your life difficult.
Putting 2 enemies in a room makes for a tough but survivable fight, and 3 gets crazy. I'll probably throw 6 or more somewhere, just for fun.
There's a downside, though - with this amount of scripting attached to each enemy, the game stutters a bit when each main enemy gets loaded in. Is this a dealbreaker? It's very noticeable. If you all would rather keep things smooth, I'll rethink how I'm doing this. If a little lag is okay, I'll just try to space things out a bit. Maybe only spawn one enemy at a time, and set timers for everyone else in the room.
I had a great deal of fun with this mod. The Sentinal site is the weakest of the two with the super respawn places making for impossible fights. I tried getting al the companions avalible through OAR, Depravity, Valkyrie, FC, Ivy and Heather. We couldnt as a well equipped group take down the room so I tried adding in a bunch of allied sentry bots and still no go. I finally had to give up and turn off detection so I could clear the room. Otherwise I had a fun time. Little has been a challenge to my character and I had to use stimpacks and tactics to live through the fights. I started at 91 and left the dungeons at 102. Id love if you had a bit of lore in the mod to add some flavor - otherwise its perfect for a fun high level romp. Oh and if you play survival too make sure to bring your own supplies Sentinel has a sleeping bag but I never found one in the Factory.
The Decrepit Factory is playable no problem. The Sentinel Site is ludicrous. Enemy spawning non stop causing my PC to CTD constantly. The only way to finish it is to go into console and type "tdetect" which makes you totally undetectable by the enemy. Then it becomes fun and the only way I could finish the quest without the constant CTD's. Plus factor is that you level up a lot in that bunker. But it is just not playable normally, unless maybe with a really high spec PC. Also missing keys. Just type "unlock" in the console to unlock the doors. I think this mod author was having a laugh. There were 3 hacked MkV Liberty Primes spawning in the boss room incl. 4 Sentry bots and 8 Asaultrons , 10 gauss turrets and maybe 10 bots. Then you get totally surrounded by maybe 20 of the irritating synths. WTF. A stealth boy does not work. They still see you. Also I have the robot hacking perk. But any robot you hack get's killed so quickly it's a waste of time. I fired a nuclear missile which deals much more damage than a Fat man at an Asaultron in Vats and it did absolutely no damage at all. It should have killed everything in the room.
So I tried the Sentinel site again. I changed the graphic settings, so there were far fewer CTD's. This time I managed to beat the mod fair and square. All keys found etc. It took about 7 hours. You have to play it like Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts. So stealth and if you raise the alarm, run away and hide until the alarm is cleared. Or you will just be fighting endless hordes of spawning synths. Take plenty of grenades and at least one good weapon in vats dealing at least 400 dr. Also max out your sneak options . Sentinel clothing will also help. It"s really tough, but it can be done. No reward except using loads of ammo. Just me and Heather.
I know the mod hasn't been worked on since 2018, but in case anyone wants to download it:
The concept is sound, after all at least the Super Mutant one is a recreation of a classic FPS level. But the enemy spawns are dumb as hell and keys keep disappearing.
Basically, you'll have high level enemies spawn right in front of you, behind you and all around you out of thin air at specific locations, so you'll leave a room, move to wherever the next trigger is and suddenly have a boatload of super mutant overlords, warlords and mutant hounds spawn in an empty room behind you and see them spawn directly in front too.
Due to the way the game's balanced too, you'll be completely outmatched by sheer numbers and firepower. I'm using a further modded version of the M2 flamethrower mod which turns the thing in to pretty much a cheat weapon as it bypasses most resistances and even then I'm still getting overwhelmed.
Couple that with all the crashes brought on by the number of enemies being spawned all around and it's just a slog to get through.
It's just not fun.
If I had the skills I'd love to make my own spin on this, because again the idea of recreating certain classic FPS locations is fun, but the execution is horrendous IMO.
Greetings, hopefully this info can help others. First, what a battle mod, awesome. I had been trying to get this mod to work for two days. The symptom was when entering the complex I fought the ghouls and super mutants in the bathroom, then nothing, no other spawns. I got to the door that required a terminal but the door would not open when I found the terminal.
I had an idea to look at the files in the downloaded archive and compare. I found a missing file, so copied it over but no dice, had the same problems. Next thing to try was I loaded a previous save and uninstall mod, load game and save. I reinstalled the mod but this time copied the script folder to the data folder. I should mention that I use NMM as a mod manager. Booted the game and entered the complex and holy sh** Batman the battle was on.
I have other more with similar problems, I will be doing the same and see what happens.
A quick question:- Does this mod reference contemporary events in Fallout 4 in any way? So Super Mutants, Institute, Diamond City, etcetc? Trying to figure out if it would fit well for a Frost playthrough (which is set immediately post-war). Thanks in advance for any responses! :)
Just finished the mod. Well, i coudn't find the key that openes the door that gives me access to the terminal that needs a password which i do not have, so i could not open the last door. Bloody annoying all these keys, terminals, passwords etc... that is exactly why i uninstalled fusion city. If you make a mod without any lore, that gives you only a 1000 enemies..thats fine.. i love those mods, which is why i have "war of he commonwealth" as a must have mod in my load order.. But all these passwords and keys and terminals make me angry... why are they needed ?... they aren't. Just lock the doors with a standard lock... the ones you can pick.. more then enough.
That said, i loved the fights, My frame-rate stayed nicely at 60fps throughout... and my character Lana got though it without dying once... so they now also know who she is... and i would encourage you to make more of these mods.. preferably harder then this one...
like the song says; "in the midnight hour, she yells: more, more, more...."
But Please... without terminals, passwords, or keys... Ill leave this one in my load order for a while.. in-case you decide to update the mod to not have keys, terminals, or passwords... omg....
I'm installing this, and teach these enemies a lesson... I am used to playing with "war of the commonwealth" in the highest diff, and so i am no stranger to battle.. these guys wont know what hit them, no matter where they are. And what killed them ?.. It was the Heretic Lana... nobody kills her.. she kills you. Ask the children of Atom.she hates them with a passion..

it is already hard to find a key in his own apartment, but to run off this dirty fitness course. NO.
I delete this....
Have fun playing....
