I'm having an issue with Special K, some sort of popup keeps appearing and immediately disappearing. If I switch to (or start in) fullscreen, forced screen precedence, etc. the game just locks up.
I do not have NVidia Overlay running, and the LO is stable without Special K.
I vaguely remember something like this happening to me but I don't really remember how I fixed it, sorry. I've uninstalled Special K since I left my original comment because I felt the extra CPU usage wasn't worth it.
Honestly I don't think it's worth the hassle, but if you still want to try and get it working, you can try playing in borderless windowed with BorderlessUpscale=true in High FPS Physics Fix to make it appear fullscreen.
Am i understand this correctly? i downloaded ENBSeries from http://enbdev.com. then download v5.0.1 latest version. Open the file. Copy and paste everything in Wrapper Version Folder. then tweak below: [MEMORY] ForceVideoMemorySize=true VideoMemorySizeMb=38912 AreYouSureYouKnowWhatIsIt=false
im using 32G ram, 16 Vram, so - 10G system + game, then times 1024, i got 38912. after this, i tweak FPSlimiter from true to False since i use other software for fps limit. ignored the second value(fps=61.0) of Fps limiter section since i disabled this feature run the game via Mo2. got text when the gear showed up.
done. i dont wanna use any other ENB filter and stuff. just simple plugin for the Vram, is that okay? am i done this correctly?
You should download v0.283 ENBoost only version. Other version contain graphics change to the game by default. Although if you deleted everthing except the 2 .dll file. It should work too.
I'm using mod organizer 2 and cannot get ENBoost to run showing the main menu confirmation launching F4SE on MO2. Other than that it works on a regular launch using the fallout4.exe launcher. Not sure what I'm doing wrong and I can't find directions on how to install this using MO2
UPDATE: Sooo it works launching the F4SE application by itself in the file menu without any mods selected but the culprit for this is now mod organizer 2 itself since fallout 4 script extender works fine. I have currently 247 mods installed that are already played test on my 2nd stable playthrough. I find it weird it's mod organizer causing this. I play Fallout with 60+ FPS, have 32 gigs of ram, and got this to try to get rid of the low res texture loading built into the game system. I downloaded no ENBs, only using the ENboost here. If anybody finds a work around for mod organizer 2 post it here. I know most people use vortex but hopefully this works since MO2 has been the only way to create a stable playlist of mods to make it to end game controlling the load order.
If you run MO2, download Kezyma's Root Builder. It's on the Skyrim archive, but it works just fine for FAllout 4. It links a virtual folder at the root/install folder. This allows you to install an empty mod in MO2, make a file called "root" and put the files in there like you're supposed to with ENB binaries. Furthermore, you can install the ENB binaries in a root folder, and then install different ENBs in their own empty mod root folder and activate/deactivate as you please. Be sure to read the instructions for install on Kezyma's page here:
0nce you download and install according to Kezyma's instructions, - Make an empty mod in MO2 and call it ENBoost - Open the mod folder in Explorer - Make a folder called Root - Download this mod and put the files in that Root folder - Activate in your mod list and go.
You may find that MO2 & Root Builder will copy the files in your Overwrite directory also in a file called Root. It likes to do that with ENB files. You can keep them in there if you still use this mod. I have not tested this mod with MO2 so this is not an endorsement for ENBoost, this is just a quick instruction on how to add ENB files to MO2 without messing up your install folder.
I also have a 3090 and stupid amounts of ram, but only get 40-50 fps after 200 mods, what are you doing to achieve this? I feel like I'm missing something here
He is of course lying. There is a lot of lying in the modding community. No one, I don’t care what rig you have, is getting 200 fps with an ENB in Fallout 4. Well maybe if you play at 720p but I don’t know no one doing that with a 3090. I have a 3080ti and I’m playing at UW 3440x1440. My setup is: NAC X ELFX Reactor ENB // On top of that I have the the 60GB Fallout 4 HD Texture mod. My Landscape is only 2K tho. I also have both a grass and a tree mod. // Im getting as low as 45 fps is certain areas. It’s true I have some areas at 100 fps also but my average FPS in the forest is somewhere between 55-70fps. My friend has a 3090 with a 12 generation CPU. He has 64 GB RAM. He, with a modlist that is pretty similar to mine is “only” getting an average of 12-17 fps more. So even he has areas were he is dropping down to below 60 fps. I don’t think there are many rigs out there beating his. An overclocked I9 with an overclocked ROG STRIX 3090 and fast 64 GB Ram. And this ain’t no load-order s**t. It’s enough to download the whole 4K texture package and go for the NAC X + ELFX + ENB setup and you are down to almost these numbers. Especially if you begin to download faction and NPC overhauls like Unique NPCs. So, lying, yes. It’s better in the Skyrim community but Fallout 4 community is full of s**t-posters. Kids, or insecure grown as men with a kids mind, writing about their fictional numbers. I have even seen posts were these fps dudes writing about their earnings, their supermodel girlfriend, and their d**k-size in the same f-ing FPS post. It’s so ridiculous you have to lol your a** off.
Of course it isn't true, I have a 3060ti and Ryzen 5 3600 with 16GB RAM and NVMe and I still struggle on boston areas and heavily builded settlements with just Sim Settlement, ENB, ELFX and Precombined, I go from 30~55~60FPS at best on settlements and it gets bad on boston area, around 30~55 at best. So i'll try this mod again after years of hiatus and see what FPS boost (How little it is) I can get.
I've just got a gtx1050ti and i7-3770, on Windows 7. But 1920x1200, 60 FPS no stutter and yet not using this mod nor odd tweaked ini settings. Not using ENB or any lighing FX. No weather mods (except simple winter weather). And not using PRP or FPS fix but...
...I avoid mods which break precombines. Using No Godrays mod, standard high texture setting (but with Texture Optimization Project mod), my draw distance sliders a mix of low-to-medium (but I use mods which make vanilla weather mostly foggy and/or rainy, as I like weather, but it also masks modest draw distances). I use FXAA, but have wetness etc all enabled/high. Game looks great and sits locked at 60 FPS most of the time, even running around downtown. About 100 mods (manually installed).
With a 3080ti you should do lots better, even if adding an ENB performance hit - it's all about preferences & compromises of course.
Sorry to comment on such an old thread, but you absolutely can get stable 60+ fps even in the busiest boston downtown areas, for me all it took was this:
bUseCombinedObjects=1 in Fallout4.ini.
It will cause some flickering textures but at least you can view them in stable fps. I don't know what it actually does so use your own precaution.
how tf ur guys get 200 fps in fallout 4? or anything above 60 fps tbh, i got a 3080 and not matter what i tried my game never go over 60 fps, and my gpu sleeping at under 20% usage lol
Set correct iPresentIntervall in Fallout4Prefs.ini:
under [Display] set one of this settings: iPresentInterval=2 (set for up to 120FPS) iPresentInterval=1 (.. 60FPS) iPresentInterval=0 (.. no FPS-Cutting - this will normally have issues like fastmove, stutters etc., cause Hz and FPS are not able corrosponding in game-engine)
For 120FPS put it to "2", set MaxFrequency for Fallout 4 in NVIDIA-Control-Panel (or what else) to 120FPS, enabled V-Sync at "Fast" or "On" and you will have FPS up to 120 (with according GC and Moni). My Specs: GTX 1660 TI StormX 6GB, i5, SSD, 1920 x 1080 on MSI GSync-Moni 165Hz. Sometimes stuttering in Boston and some other locations, but save and reload did it there. Hope this helps.
Thats a you problem buddy. Most people get mods that help with the boston area. I literally have 700+ mods and i never stutter in boston and my fps stays above at least 140.
you have to extract the files from the zip file u downloaded hereto the game folder steamlibrary > steamapps > common > fallout4 where the fallout.exe is located. placing the zip in your games folder won't do anything. the files that are sitting in the zip file have been compressed and need to be extracted/decompressed from that compressed folder and placed in the right location for the game to to run those files. otherwise the zip file just sits wherever placed and does nothing. think of it as a kids play set sitting inside a box. it needs to be taken out and put together so your kid (fallout4) can play with :D
I noticed an enbseries folder is installed in the FO4 folder after running the game right after installing enboost. When uninstalling enboost this folder and any other enb related files need to be deleted as well. this should be mentioned in the instructions for uninstall on the description page and its not :/ its not good to just have random files kicking about the games directory...

Special K is a better alternative to this, though installation and setup is a bit more complicated. It has memory settings like ENB.
Installation instructions: Advanced (local) | Special K - The Official Wiki
The .exe linked in step one is outdated though, download it from the main page instead: Special K | The Swiss Army Knife of PC Gaming
I do not have NVidia Overlay running, and the LO is stable without Special K.
Heard about anything similar?
