Any chance the half and quarter wall parts will ever be updated with these colors? I'm running into an issue where I can't snap any other kind of roofs onto the concrete walls, and the concrete roofs are super flat on top of being inset to the top of the walls, so it makes my ceilings seem uncomfortably low, like "ceiling fans look dangerous" low. I would like to add an extra half-wall layer to raise the roof, but they are ugly and dirty >.<
Hi there, I actually never used those small pieces, I didn't create houses that needed their ceilings raised, so I hadn't thought of colouring those pieces! It's a good idea and I'll look into it sometime, not sure when, though; I haven't played Fallout in a while and am focussing on figuring out how to make stuff for Starfield. But will try to look at that when I can.
Been a long time since someone has posted here ... For me the solid colors are all just white. All the pattern colors work well (except stairs). I tried both the ESP, and ESL versions. Even though this is not fully working as intended (for me), that parts that do work, make it worth it for me. Working parts look excellent.
Strange, I wonder why they display like that in your case. The solid colours are pale shades and I guess they could look white under certain lighting, maybe if it's very bright or very dark. I don't know why the stairs patterns don't work well for you. All looks OK in my game and those of my friends who play, or played, Fallout 4 and who tested these back in the day.
Glad you like the textured walls at least, thank you!
At this point my mod order is pretty light, I am trying to set up a load order to just build a settlement and use with Transfer Settlements. I was checking out different concrete types. Once I found issues I tried to even uninstall the other concrete mods. The icons in build menu show color but actual in game is just white. With the stair the solid color does the same thing and the wood panel stair only covers part at an angle and rest is white. Concrete effecting mods are; Less Repetitive Concrete Clean Wasteland Workshop but even with those uninstalled, same thing.
Your white fits in very well with those 2 mods.
*note those colors are under mid day sunlight. Built several next to eachother and compared in play mode. No emb nor light mods installed.
Well I'll be darned ... I just did a bunch more testing, and it seems that it is the sunlight. The shade side have the colors properly. That one wood panel stairway has the same issue still, but even the other stairway have their color in the shade. I sent a pic of it to you. This means it is on my end. Frankly, most issues are user end.
Thanks for the extra info. Going into my game now, I find that although everything else in this set works fine, that one set of wooden steps with the plank texture does display as partly white on the top few steps for me too. They displayed correctly when I made them, as can be seen in the screenshots on the Description tab. I was using them all the time with no problems.
My guess is that Bethesda made some update/patch to the game since I made these, which affected some textures or mappings, but why just that one set of steps and not all of them, is a mystery.
I don't know what's going on, can only suggest using the burled wood textured ones instead if you want wooden steps. Sorry not to be able to fix them, but I can't imagine what went wrong between 2018 and now...
The weird problem with the white patches on the steps is now fixed. Anyone having this problem, please download V2. Thanks for making me aware of this, Hammerhead96!
Just a new quick note: Since we had this convo, I've now found that the steps had also lost their navmesh somewhere over the years. Please redownload: New version 2.1 uploaded today fixes that problem.
Actual game match description, but none of them are navmesh. Only the player can walk on those stairs. Even if i use vanilla stairs, but mod`s walls NPCs don`t walk on that area. Not even the companions (both vanilla and Heather). It's slightly funny to see them all, after the end of the working day, how they gather at the bottom of the stairs and sit there as if they want to go on strike or something.
Hi, these are just simple recolours (material swaps) of the game's vanilla stairs & walls, they are not new models. So they have the same navmeshing as the vanilla ones. My companions and settlers use the stairs and go in the rooms with the walls.
I've seen many instances of settlers standing around all night, whether with or without any modded stairs or walls. it's common settler behaviour (probably a game bug, although some friends and I liked to imagine it's because those settlers are synths and don't need to sleep).
ETA: Weird, since you mentioned this, I noticed in my current game that NPCs do go into rooms with my recoloured concrete walls but it looks like they don't go up even the DEFAULT concrete steps. (They do use wooden ones.) So it's not just my recoloured steps. I last played this game in 2019 and have now been experiencing numerous glitches that weren't there before. AFAIK, patches for the game had finished by then. A few players recently mentioned to me that some older mods by other modders stopped working and they'd had to find newer equivalents. My guess would be that the ongoing Creation Club updates since then have been causing changes in the gamecode? Argh, not good.
Hi again, you're right, actually - these steps, since I fixed the texture flaw they acquired after some patch or other, did lose their navmesh! I then discovered that the new floor & roof recolour set I just made also had no navmesh. I don't know what's going on with that, why simply making a set of colours for an item would make it lose its navmesh, but I have now fixed them all. Please re-download the steps, and also the new 'Extras' mod with the floors & roofs if you use those. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, it really is weird.
I know it's been awhile since you uploaded this mod, but I was wondering if there was any chance you could add to it basic floor/roof pieces that would match the 12 walls? If not, I understand. FIgured I'd ask.
Hi, thanks for the question. Another member asked the same a while back, and I would like to add more pieces at some point because I know that more matching pieces would be a good idea (when I made this, I didn't know if all that many people would find these walls useful so I just made a few main pieces). But, I haven't played Fallout 4 in over a year and don't know when I'll get back to it, hence why I haven't made any more stuff for it. If/when I do, more pieces for this set will be the top of the list!
Hi, probably best to ask that on the Fallout 4 discussion forums rather than in my thread - not many people will be looking at these comments but you'll get more views on the forums.
Is there any chance of getting the 'plaster' textures added to the other concrete wall and step types? At the very least the half-width walls and pillars, and short stairs? I love this mod (it's nice having *any* walls that aren't ugly), and that would be the only improvement I could possibly suggest.
Hi, if you ever come back to this thread, I just discovered something by sheer accident that I hadn't realised before: you can snap wooden or metal walls to the fronts or backs of concrete walls. So that way, with this mod you can have walls that are patterned on one side and wood or metal on the other, and without making them much thicker than they already are.
I adore this mod but the concrete walls are too thick, and can't be placed so they're one-sided. Is there any chance you could do something like this (maybe with some of these patterns, if possible) with the Slocum's Joe creation's walls? If not, that's okay, but you do such wonderful work with the retro style.
Hi thanks for liking the mod! This object is just a simple recolour (material swap) of the default concrete walls, which are thick and double-sided by default. The only way these walls could be made thinner and one-sided would be to edit the mesh and and re-UV map it, which may or may not work well. I could look into that at some point, might be worth a try, but can't say when though. What are the Slocum's Joe creation's walls, is that a mod?
In the immediate term, if you want a pattern on only one side all I can suggest is to make a double wall, using a default wall or one of the various wall mods as the outer wall. Although of course that's not ideal because it will make the walls even thicker!
Slocum's Joe is a Creation Club thing that adds walls, floors, food items, and lets you build your own doughnut shop in the Wasteland. The walls in that Creation Club item are double-sided, with the outside having this nice-looking white brick texture and the inside having various different textures based on Slocum's Joe.
Unfortunately, that's what I'll have to do for now. Though I can understand why Bethesda made the concrete walls so thick. It's realistic. But it just doesn't *look* good.
Aha, thanks for the explanation about the Slocum Joe walls. I haven't looked at the Creation Club since it first came out, so didn't know about those. A shame they didn't put two-sided walls in the vanilla game!

So that way, with this mod you can have walls that are patterned on one side and wood or metal on the other, without making them much thicker than they already are.
These walls are just simple recolours (material swaps) of the default concrete walls and behave exactly the same as the default concrete walls. So anything that can snap to the default ones will snap to these, and anything that can't snap to the default ones, won't snap to these. ETA: I just went in-game to check, and wooden walls, floors and roofs snap to these walls, like they do with the default ones. It might be a bit tricky, like it often is with getting anything to snap together in this game - you have to be standing in just the right position to get it to 'take' - but it does work.
I haven't thought about it and it's not something I'll be doing in this mod - it would be easier to just make a whole new solid/seamless wall mesh, and from some pics I've seen of people's settlements, it looks like that's already been done, so you could look for mods that have done it. I made this as a 'separate panels' type of idea where folks can mix and match alternating solid and patterned panels, or the different solid-coloured panels with each other, etc. Am glad you like the extra colourfulness, though.
Sorry if I was unclear, I like the textures, but was thinking about the "steel frames" around the building block. So I meant with patterned panels but with out the other stuff.
Anyway, I get if that's a hole other thing to do, keep up the good work! :)
I think I understand what you mean, but it can't be done successfully with this particular mod, it would require a new mesh. This is just a recolour (material swap) set of a default mesh, and the steel frames are included by default. Some months ago I was thinking of making wooden wall panel meshes but then I saw it had already been done, so I didn't do it! Maybe one or more of the wood panel mods might include patterns too? It might be worth a search?

Are they both sides on the wall? Or is it concrete on one side and designs on the other?

Have you thought about adding any of the walls with out the "frames", so it's more seamless?
