Hi there! I've recently downloaded both of these and I love them to bits. The problem is I can't decide between which texture. Rusty makes sense because time, shiny makes sense because pretty. Equally valid concerns.
So I set out to try and use both, but my modding knowledge is sub-par at best.
I've spent most of my weekend trying to reverse engineer a pip-boy paint application to add a recipe to make Rusty Axe shiny after a quick recipe and some skill in Blacksmithing. So, the shiny blade can feel earned without just being mysteriously shiny for 200 years. Maybe with a tiny damage boost because, edge a little sharper.
Again, my modding knowledge is bad. I think the best I've managed is a CTD.
I don't want to seem demanding. So, sorry to even ask.
Would it be, at all possible, given you've made some similar weapon mods in the past... Would you be so kind as to please make a mod that gives an in game recipe from rusty to shiny?
I and others I'm sure would be grateful. I'm pretty sure that if you did, it would be the only Grognak's Axe in-game upgrade on the nexus.
In any case, if you do or don't, it's all good. I hope you enjoy your weekend and know that I'm thankful for the textures. They're already enhancing a melee playthrough.
hey thanks for downloading my mod and thanks for the interest in it, currently im not working on any projects because of home life commitments and also i dont have fallout or any of the tools downloaded but if you do want help building a mod yourself i can help give advice and my own knowledge
It's a simple task, so you can try it yourself. In fo4edit, find the vanilla chemistry workbench recipe, [v118] co_food_VegetableStarch [COBJ:000657FD], copy it to a new one, and put the weapon of your choice into the Created Object of the copied recipe. That's it. Even if it's not co_food_VegetableStarch, you can use any recipe from the chemistry workbench.
I LOVE this retexture, I usually use your katana mod (darkest hour) so I mostly give the axe to heather casdin and make her use it, and with this mod it makes it look like a real treasure I gave her and not some rusty hunk of metal <3
