not true. also the mod is great for NPCs. what was even the need for this comment other than to hate on a modder who not only worked hard on this mod, but is also giving out their work for free, to everyone? cmon now man
Do you use Mod Organizer 2? If so, it has a native archive extractor. Click on the Archives tab on the right, select the archive from this mod, right click and select Extract. Make a folder and extract it there, then plop that folder into the MO2 Mods folder (which you can find by going to Tools -> Settings -> Paths). Refresh MO2 and select the mod (named whatever you called the folder) on the left, and ta da, loose files.
Vortex may have similar functionality, but I don't know as I've never used it.
Note that, if you use this method, any items that may have had their texture paths altered by the .esp will not be retextured, although I don't know if there are any such objects.
To put it simply, no. Windows Defender does not flag the main .7z archive, nor the contents of it as malicious. There is no indication that it is viral, or that it may contain malware. There is only hearsay in the comment section. What I suspect is happening is that people are using Google Chrome to download files from NexusMods. Chrome is well known for being overzealous when it comes to flagging unknown, or infrequently downloaded files. It's simply a false positive. The reason that NexusMods has not scanned the file yet is because VirusTotal has a max file limit of 650mb.
Another possibility for the false positive is that whatever application people are using to extract the BA2 archive is what is actually being flagged. I believe that every application currently available on the Nexus is unsigned. Windows hates unsigned software. These applications are also not commonly used by the community, meaning heuristics isn't great at detecting the false positives as it simply doesn't have a large enough sample size. If the application isn't flagged when it's installed, it most certainly will be the moment it attempts to access the Windows File System. This could give people the impression that something malicious was contained in the archive.
That said, I have not unpacked or explored the BA2 archive myself. I don't feel the need to. Although I can't assure you 100% that this mod is safe, it is extremely unlikely that anything malicious is hidden inside of it.
2023 downloader here, no trojan on this file windows defender is just dumb, click allow in defender and install the archive manually in vortex if your having issues.
Could you share a loose file option for this retexture mod alone cause for some reasons BAE can't extract it at all, getting stuck at the end of the process. It would be really nice of you, it helps tremendously with conflicts and compiling.
Maybe because there is something else inside of the BA.2 file? This mod has been up since 2019 but it has not been scanned by Nexus for viruses. That is extremely odd.
Seems like flight helmet 1's diffuse map is corrupt, as it won't extract from the BSA. For anyone interested in merging texture packages, it's Textures/Armor/FlightHelmet/Helmet_01_d.DDS, so just leave that or the entire flight helmet category out and find another one somewhere.

Would it be possible to get a 4k version (despite what says in the main page)? And a loose file version no esp at that? hehe :D
