The only dog I care to pet is Dogmeat obviously. Like seriously why would anyone want to pet a stranger dog, that they just met and don't know their background at all? Might be an aggressive breed in general or specifically trained to attack people (you know the Commonwealth wasteland is a harsh environment, people have to defend their homes from Raiders, or Raiders themselves may use attack dogs and stuff). Well, I'm not willing to take that risk. Or at least for immersion make a "first sniff the Sole Survivor's hand, then let them pet you" mod for any dog in the game. XD Awesome mod btw (if it wasn't obvious enough), I'm gonna use it for Dogmeat, as this finally gives me the means of saying "thank you" to my beloved canine companion.
Hey, I installed this through Vortex, but I'm not getting the option to pet the dogs. I can talk to them, but not pet them. I had my weapon put away, and afaik I don't have any mods that would hinder the mod from functioning, at least I don't think so. Nothing that changes how interactions, animations, or companions work.
When I first met dogmeat I did the petting animation, but it won't let me do it again. Any idea what's causing it?
Putting the weapon away isn't enough. You have to unequip it altogether. You'll know you've done it right because you'll have bare-knuckles as a weapon instead. Then put those away. Sure you have Animal Friend Level 1? Then pet away :D
