Hey, guys. Give it away my FO4 account to my nephew. Get really tired of Gamebryo engines: it feels like self-flagellation. So, no more mods updating. Sorry. You can do whatever you like with my mods/ files but within the NEXUS site only. Good luck.
Instead of giving you mental disorders, as the disclaimer said, this mod could end up making those mental disorders worse, if you were to have those disorders.
For the people confused by the mental health warning: It is mainly for users who already have, or show symptoms of the listed conditions. The image of fog will not be the outright cause of any of these disorders, but for someone who has them already, it could make them worse.
Sorry this looks like I am explaining a lot but it really is just about 3 steps.
It just looks like a lot becuse modding has change a little bit since this came out and to the point where a Mod Manager even Vortex is all most need for installing mods.
It is straigh forward and Manual install is needed for this mod.
AS when downloading "Fog of War - All in One" You are actually downloading 6 different versions of the same mod to choose from.
If you look at or extract the archives/mods inside of the downloaded file. (Most people us the free program "7 Zip" for this)
You should see in order 6 folders named:
Fog; Mist; Mostly Fog; Mostly Mist; Polluetd; and Polluted with Dust Storms.
Each folder contains the same thing just with different settings and you only choose one folder.
inside the folders will be:
Date Folder - containg the/a "Fog of War.esp" and "Readme.txt"
In the readme tesxt you'll see how each version is differnt as is explained on the description page of this mod here on Nexus:
- FOG - 85% of the time it's heavy Fog + 10% Rain with Fog + 5% RAD Storm -
- MIST - 85% of the time it's Misty Fog + 10% Rain with Fog + 5% RAD Storm -
- MOSTLY FOG - 60% of the time it's heavy Fog + 25% Misty + 10% Rain with Fog + 5% RAD Storm -
- MOSTLY MIST - 60% of the time it's Misty + 25% Fog + 10% Rain with Fog + 5% RAD Storm -
- POLLUTED - 85% of the time it's Polluted Fog + 15% RAD Storm -
- POLLUTED with SAND STORM - 85% of the time it's Polluted Fog + 10% Sand Storm + 5% RAD Storm -

So all you need to do is pick one of the "Fog of War.esp" and copy or drag and drop to your fallout fall data folder located were your "fallout4.exe" is.
Esaist way to get there is,
Right click on the icon you use to luarnch the game and select "open file location"
Your fallout4.exe will be there.
This is called the "game directory folder."
Inside it is everything the game is loading.
In this same loction is a folder called "data"
it will have files in there such as "fallout4.esm" (this is called a Bathesda Master Data File by the PC operating system and your system might even have it in a sorted section name if you have your folder "sort by setting" to "typs/type of file".
Folder view settings to "modified/date created" can also be helpful.
you change these by right clicking an empty spot withing a folder)
Regardless you just need to copy or drag and drop the "Fog of War.esp" into this folader named "Data" where the the fallout4.esm is.
Thats pretty much it.
It is installed.
Deploying will can be slightly different depending on the mod manager you use.
Open your Mod Manager such as vortex or MM2, and follow your usual steps for deplaying a mod as if you just installed it through the mod manager but Do Not actually do the install part as you just did it manually.
Example, in the Vortex mod manager. click on the "Mods" tab then click the "Deploy" button in the mods tab so it reloads/cheacks everyhting. "Fog of War.esp" might not show up here even if installed correctley.
Then go to the "Plugins" tab where you then click the "Sort Now" button. Here the "Fog of War.esp" will show up if installed correct.
____________
There is one extra step on the description page of the mod you probably will not have to do as your mod manager should do it automatically, seems it has been 7 years this was uploaded and modding has improved but just incase.
Last Step/Probably not needed though:
Open "plugins.txt" and after "Fallout4.esm" add my plugin name.
For Vortex Mod Manager users this will be in the vortex data folder.
To quickly get to that.
Open Vortex itself, go to "Mods" tab, right click on a mod and choose open file location.
This will be the sub-folder for the installed mod through vortex within the votrex folder.
From here click the folders "Up" button not the "back" button.
This will take you Upwards/back through the achives/folder.
You will then see a few folders such as:
Icons; Mods; Profiles;
Go into the "profles" folder, then the sub folder which is your profile name usaully random letters, and in there will be the auto made by Vortex "plugins.txt" you can edit as in the mod description for installing, if needed.
Probably do not need to do this these days but just incase.
You will aslo see that the mods on this list are in the load order of the Vortex "Plugins Tab" in the Mod manager itself.
This is where would add "Fog of War.esp" in order, if needed to, at all but you most likely wont'.
_____________
As for which "Fog of War.esp" you choose that is up to you.
A suggestion from the popular:
"Performance optimization guide - mod list and tweaks"
is to use "Mist" or "Fog" Option.
Think the idea is so the game does not look like objects are poping in when you lod setting in the game turned down.
Not that I think I can offically tell you to use or do something but a lot of people would suggest this guide when getting started.
Has anyone else experienced rain sound effects when inside smaller buildings? My guess is that a) the game recognizes the fog as a rainy condition, or b) I have another mod (maybe a Audio - SFX) that sees the fog as rain.
Let me know if you also have this occurrence. Thanks!
