Before this my game crashed in almost every resource-intense scene, including and not limited to Downtown Boston, overbuilt settlements such as Vault 88 and Spectacle Island, Vertibird ride, some random highway (arrive, crash, repeatable), in Castle after an SS2 Castle blueprint (guaranteed crash in 5 minutes, the author warned about resource but I cannot imagine it's related to weapon debris). After that I spent a few reality hours in the Castle without any problem.
I meant playing with Weapon Debris On. With it turned off, the game works completely fine, mod or not. With it on, the games doesn't get past the launcher. With the mod and weapon debris on, I can play for a few minutes but will crash eventually
I have a RTX 3070Ti and used this mod ever since I got this card in 2021. It works great. The chunks of whatever you shoot or explode still happens but it doesn't litter the floor anymore. Recently I bought a GT 1030 and dedicated it as a PhysX card and removed this mod. Now I have the weapon debris back and the game doesn't crash, also my framerate is still consistent in firefights.
So if you want the original experience you'll have to get a GTX card (except GTX 1660 series). Otherwise this mod is a great workaround. Thanks to the mod author for this fix that never came from Bethesda or Nvidia.
Super simple. I bought a GT 1030 and just plugged it into an empty PCIE slot on my motherboard. Then in the Nvidia control panel I went to Configure Surround, PhysX and selected the GT 1030 and checked the Dedicate to PhysX box. I chose a GT 1030 specifically because it doesn't require additional power which means less cables, heat, and power consumption.
the 2GB version is GDDR5. the 4gb version is DDR4. I went with the 2gb version for the faster memory. Not sure how much that affects the performance since it's sole purpose is to do PhysX
Am I correct in assuming that if I've downgraded to FO4 runtime 1.10.163 (just prior to the initial Next Gen patch), I should download the next oldest version besides the one shown as the main file to download?
didn't worked for me on latest patch on rtx 4070 driver version 566.36 PhysX selected for CPU EDIT: Nevermind it seems like it works but still without debris collision like in the video so half a solution I guess
There are lots of different in-engine Havok collision/material types, the solution might be in forcing a different one? Like one used for shell casings for instance. I'm not sure if it applies to a GPU-driven particle/mesh.

In Documents/My Games/Fallout 4, Open Fallout4Prefs.ini, find NVFlex, then change the following parameters:
[NVFlex]
bNVFlexEnable=0
iQuality=0
bNVFlexInstanceDebris=0
bNVFlexDrawDebris=0

Great tip, thank you.

Time to get a GT 1030 I guess

Will this mod do anything BAD or otherwise negative if I have this enabled while I'm using an AMD GPU? Or will it instead just do nothing at all?
People with AMD GPUs, Nvidia GPUs that are the 10 series or older or have the setting off do not need this mod.
