This mod seems to interfere with Sim Settlement 2 talking with the Stranger/Jake. after I uninstalled I was able to talk with him. Not sure if others are having this problem but figured I would check.
This sounds interesting. I'm not sure how can this mod conflict with sim settlements. However, it's possible to "deactivate" this mod without uninstallation. That's why I've made the holotape and the "deactivate potion". In this case, conflicts are impossible. But uninstallation is also an option.
The reason it probably has issues is because ss2 makes Jake follow you and sometimes scripts makes him a temp settler to do the talking crap. I've had to remove tons of mods to make it work. Getting to the point I may remove ss2. Lots of annoying issues with that mod.
How does this differ from Settlement Management Software by matzman666 which allows you to assign settlers to beds as a resource as well as other things. The problem that I've encountered, even when using that mod, is that NPCs have a mind of their own. The bed they sleep in today is not necessarily the one they will sleep in tomorrow. Case in point. There's this married couple (refugees from that settlement that the gunners overran) who just won't sleep together in a double bed even if assigned to their respective side of the same bed. Might work the first night, but whenever I came back I'd find them sleeping either alone or with someone else. That marriage is definitely on the fritz.
On a side note - I had set up a couple of bunker beds (for 4) at Graygarden so that my companions would have a place to sleep whenever I stayed overnight. However, my companions refused to use the beds. Why? Because the Handy Robots had claimed them. The robots weren't using them but their happiness was now above 50.
Well I don't know that mod so I'm not sure if i can be of any help. The "workshopparentscript" is a rather complex script that handles these "assignments". One bed can be owned by one settler. There are double beds or wide matresses that have two markers but even these can be owned by only one person. The other settler just "uses" that bed but they're not assign to it (becaues of this, their happiness may be lower). It's possible that one settler owns two beds though but it should be avoided (it may be just a bug). Assigning a settler to a workshop object in workshop mode means the settler gets the ownership of that object. One object can't be owned by multiple settlers as far as I know. If you'd like to assign specific settlers to specific beds then you have to assign them one by one unfortunately.. However, the workshop system assigns settlers to beds automatically on certain conditions.. like when you assign a settler to a resource object they'll "loose" their previously owned bed. If there are any unused bed in that settlement, they'll get a randomly chosen new one. That means if you'd like your settlers to use a specific bed then you have to assign to them again.. The workshop system auto assigns the Mr Handy robots in Graygarden to beds yes.. Well, it's a vanilla behavior..
Guess, in vanilla, it all comes down to resource availability. Expect bed hopping as long as the #crafted beds is greater than #current settlers. Likewise for guard and food assignments. E.g. If you've set up provisions for 4 guards (12 posts at 2 defense each ) but only have 3 guards assigned then those guards will probably change the 3 posts they're standing or sitting at until the 4th guard joins them.
Anyways, back to your mod. It's nice that the bed reveals who owns it. The dictator part of me would like that ownership to be permanent but then that would negate a settler's freedom of choice. Tracking for now until I get to play Fallout 4 again. Kudos.
Different type of objects have different type of resource values. Some actor values are: "Food", "Bed", "Safety". And yes, they are actor values even though beds, tatos and guard posts are not actually actors.
The "Food" value depends on the food itself (like tatos and carrots have 0.5, mutfruits have 1). A settler can be assigned to maximum of 12 food objects (but only if each food object has 0.5 "Food" value because one settler can provide up to 6 food). So in this case this settler would get ownership on 12 food objects (tatos, carrots). (Ownership is the key to identify the assigned settler. The owner is the assigned settler).
Beds work similarly but there's a trick. If a bed's "Bed" value is 2, then this bed counts as two beds. That means when you place a bed like this in your settlement, your "Beds" count will change from 0 to 2. However, one bed can’t be owned by two settlers regardless of the "Bed" value. So even though the "crafted beds" are bigger than the "current settlers", some of your settlers will be unhappy.
Yes, as long as your settler assigned to beds by the vanilla workshop system. I've made this mod to be compatible with mod added beds, settlers and settlements.
I believe this mod has potential to evolve further. It'd be nice if you could a claim a bed for yourself and a settler will never use that bad.
I've had this weird issue where I can't decide where my settlers sleep. Let's say one comes in and I have two beds. They'll chose Bed A but I assign Bed B to them, however they'll sleep in Bed A although both Beds A and B are registered under the settler.
Here's a link to a mod that does what you want. It's really old, so adding the ability to have your own bed would be great if added to this mod because I've endorsed this one and haven't even used it yet.
Sorry, I forgot to write this in the description.. The Settler's Bed is from the Noir Penthouse and the Sturges' Bed is from the Modern Furniture Workshop Pack.
Yes, it's handy for specific settlers and beds. It's not visible in the videos unfortunately but it also shows if the settler is not assigned to any bed (if you "activate" an unassigned settler or an unused bed).

Where's the bed in the pictures from?
