If you have Vortex (Nexus modding browser) it says, "Vortex Download" But, if your switching accounts and transferring with mods, it will ask you to transfer the mods, if you do; the mods will work, that you have downloaded, happened with me, and Vortex works perfectly! You should definetly try it.
Not going to be updating this mod again, since the black synth gear mod that came out after mine has gotten more popular and likely for a reason. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1111/?
Well that's a shame. I don't see why the others are more popular. Yours looks just as good, and they're all replacers. Maybe if one was a standalone, I could see why it'd be more popular.
Guess I'll have to dust off my old mod skills from my Skyrim days and see what I can do.
I'm new to modding and I don't quite know what you mean when you say this mod isn't standalone, would you be able to help me understand? Do you need a certain mod to make this mod work? I didn't see anything in the description about that which usually the author will include. Or do you just mean that this mod has three different files that you need to download, rather than one all inclusive download? (which would obviously be easier)
'Standalone' means that the mod adds a game item that does not conflict with any of the items within the the game. Usually standalone refers to a piece of armor or weaponry that someone copied from the game and changed the texture (general appearance) of the item and then enabled you to craft or find that item in the game. This standalone item would be completely separate, a unique item for your character to use.
A 'replacer,' or a 'retexture,' as this mod is, is when someone retextures an item and replaces that item in the game with their texture. For example, all of the original Synth armor in the game is white. However, with this mod, he has -replaced- all of the white Synth armors with his own texture, which is black. This means that ALL Synth armor in the game is now black. All the armor the Synths will be wearing will be black, along with the Synth armor you'll be wearing. A standalone would simply mean that only you could access the new black Synth armor.
Many people prefer Standalone mods because they don't want their character walking around looking like everyone else, or when people like choices and variety, like the idea of having both white and black Synth armor in the game.

I like yours more. You actually look like you put the effort into making it look shadowed and dark, ie more realistic and practical. Whenever I see a retexture that's just straight up jet black it looks lazy and uncreative to me. But some people want that so oh well.
Oxameter: Just another voice chiming in to say that you should keep at it. I think your take on the synth armor is a lot less heavy-handed than the other. It's probably just the way this one is titled, putting 'Field Helmet' first, that has led search results to the other.
Do you know why the synths troops have the vanilla field helmet? Awesome mod by the way! Does maybe conflict with this mod? http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4865/?
Bruh, like i'd definetly know that, since i'm level 567 in Fo4
P.S not to be rude
EDIT: higher level variants of the Synths (not the coursers/Gen 3) may have the field helmet, but you should download "War of the Commonwealth" as it adds ALOT more NPCs, and brings a higher chance of having Synths carry the Field Helmet, as it spawns patrols of every Vagabond/creature/Human, FOREVER, with of course an ad-justification for the mod.
I know right.... Making free mods is still free mods so I'm thankfull....but damn...when I want to look cool I want to stand out from the wasteland yknow?
It's a shame the creator is done with this mod. His looked better IMO than the more popular one. maybe its just the screenshots but, to me, it seemed this ones paint is less shiny and would look better with black clothing and shadowed combat armor.
I installed it, and then I uninstalled it for another playthrough, and the field helmet is still black. Everything else is back to normal, but the field helmet doesn't reset.

I hope that clears things up for ya.

I'd prefer to use yours.
The other one is too glossy for my taste.
Right now he's taking a big break from fallout 4.
I have not quit, I'm just waiting for GECK's release to continue modding and playing Fallout 4.
Awesome mod by the way!

So, please? For the last time.
I'm not going to do any more modding until Creation Kit/GECK comes out.
