The source code for Buffout is now closed source. So unlikely unless someone figures out how Fudgyduff made the change and replicates it.
So in summary unless you're in VR, if you want the latest Buffout fixes, stick with the original. If you like the newer crashlogging in NG, then stick with this.
For those having issues read this article, should help with correct installation (there's more to using this than just this): https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/articles/3115
Heads up if you're playing on a Steam Deck, Mac or Linux: the new integrated interior navcut fix will crash your game. You have to disable it and use the "no multithreading" version of the original mod.
Need some clarification on what's exactly needed for a succsessfull NG install. Reading here and checked the requierment tab. Have no clue what in requierment you say we need "this" does it means the listed mod or the one provided here. I'm a Non english native but it confuses me since it could mean both things. Thx M
Sorry, I rewrote the message to be more clear. The main issue is that the field appears both here and on the dependency mod so you're correct that "this" is ambiguous. Pre Next Gen/VR: Credit only; no need to download the requirement. Post Next Gen: Buffout doesn't implement it so download the requirement if you want the functionality. Hopefully this makes more sense, but basically if they support Next Gen, I'm not going to steal users from them because they shared their code and I used it to help Pre Next Gen people. In fact, I disable the fix if I detect your'e in Next Gen. So, you should use the listed dependency instead. If you're not on Next Gen, then use Buffout instead and then you can thank them for sharing how to fix the issue.
Hi. I think you should remove the original Buffout 4 from the requirements. It's very confusing since you can't use both versions at the same time. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Unfortunately for NG, Buffout 4 only gave me a headache I simply can't load the save with it installed, even without other mods (just the requirements).
Hey bud. Afaik, the requirements aren't really requirements. I think the only one you actually need to download is the addresslibrary one and Baka MaxPapyrus. Are you using MO2?
I could start a new game and play fine. Making a save and then trying to load it caused a CTD until I set this in the .toml file "InteriorNavCut = false". Hope that helps.
For a mod that includes a crash logger, ironically for me I've narrowed down the causes for a crash to this. At startup, before even the Bethesda logo the game boots me back to the desktop. Here's the crashlog:
Sorry for necroposting, but haven't found a solution. Ran into the same problem again when setting up another modlist, I guess when I thought I put it behind me and hoped it was fixed already. Here's the crashlog for the second modlist
The same crash even happens with the original Buffout 4, which is odd because on the same computer and install of Windows the Buffout 4 that comes with Fallout London works handily. It's just plain odd.
Can't get this to work...when I try to load in I get this MSG
"A Mod you have installed contains a DLL that has failed to load correctly. If a new version of Fallout was just released, the plugin needs to be updated. Please check the mods webpage for updates. This is not a problem with F4se.
Buffout4.dll: Couldn't load plugin (0000045A)
Any ideas? Everything is up to date for NG and loads and runs without buffout enabled. But as soon as I enable it it won't load.
edit: What caused the issue was the location of steam app installation folder, it need to be outside of "program files". You can move it without reinstalling steam/losing installed games: Shut Steam down. Cut (not copy) the main Steam folder (\Steam\). Paste it wherever you want (C:\Steam\ for example) Run steam.exe from there.
Nope...never have figured it out. I was having the same problem though with another mod doing the same thing...not loading the game. Turns out I had dropped an an achievement enabler into the game root dir and then installed another enabler via MO2 and it would not load the game due to the conflict. With buffout 4 i don't think this is the case but symptoms are exactly the same...game will not load. Starts to load then shuts down to desktop.
Is the part where it says "NG not working" means that, those features of Buffout 4 don't work with this version of Buffout 4 or it doesn't work when playing in the NG version of Fallout 4?
This is the best crash log tool. I can easily track which mod has been making my game crashed. And many times it was my own fault for overwriting something.
Which version do I use if I have the GOG version of FO4? The game doesn't seem to be happy with 1.37.0. When you start a new game, you get a warning that achievements have been disabled. When the game crashes, you don't get a crash log.
My bro, what is this seriously? I'm just trying to get it because it's required for AAF. It's a bug fix and crash logger, yet you expect us to know 10 other things too about obscure modding and be able to understand your explanations of obscure "requirements" which aren't actually requirements and which are you giving shoutouts to other elite programmers because you don't seem to understand what the "requirements" section on Nexus is for? Then you insert 6 sticky comments to confuse the hell out of people even more. Ok, so which are the requirements?
And what the hell is PDB? And why do you keep sticky comments from 3 years ago when you updated your mod 9 times since then? Thanks!!!!
EDIT: To save people a few hours:
YES, AAF is the naughty stuff. YES, this IS the mod you need for AAF on the latest version 1.10.984 YES, you really DO need the xSE PluginPreloader F4, manually installed into the root of your game, otherwise the animations in AAF do not play.

You can delete the Fallout4.pdb or Fallout4VR.pdb if you're not running that exe.
Please note crashlogs must be hosted on something like pastebin.com. Raw crashlogs will be removed.
Repeat offenders will be blocked.
VR:
Experimental ESL support is still in an unreleased alpha. But when released Buffout4 should be able to identify plugins.

No. We adopted NG before the NextGen update was ever announced. At this point in time, we do not support the Next Gen update.
Yes. But only some options are enabled.Thx M
