Whoa, long time since I've been back here. Considering spicing this mod up a bit as a fun little side project, so I come with a question:

What would people who enjoy this mod like to see changed? This can be additions, removals, buffs, nerfs, w/e.

I have a few small ideas of my own to spruce things up, but I don't want to muck about with it too much so people who enjoy it as it is can still enjoy it even with new content.

Would love to see an alternate option for the wild flora where it's worth much more. It would be good for Book of Eli type modded setups, where trade is scarce and settlers are few as well, outposts necessarily smaller.

A cool addition to this mod would be high value alcohols, ferments, or other types of preserved foods that require large amounts of the base crop. This could make farming a worthwhile approach to surviving/thriving in the post apocalypse.

Very cool mod already ! Simple, but effective.

love the concept, i would love to see real world crops as part of the fallout world, it would be awesome to see pumpkins potatoes all the real world crops ingame, not sure if it's possible, but just an idea. cheers

In theory, pumpkins could use the gourd model but be bigger, heavier, and provide a higher food value. So implementing that would be (relatively) easy.

Potatoes are already covered by tatoes, which I guess are a mutant amalgam of potatoes and tomatoes. Potatoes exist as a crop in Skyrim, but Bethsoft doesn't allow porting models between games, so if you wanted potatoes (or leeks, cabbage, wheat, etc.) you'd need new models for the plant and the consumable. The same goes for other crops that aren't already in the FO4 game...not difficult, but it would take some time and effort.

Would be really cool to see Vault 81 "Fresh" versions of plants after completing "Hole in the Wall". Could make those give higher seed yield compared to "Normal" crops. On or slightly below the level of seeds from wild crops? Maybe Institute versions of crops too after doing "Building a Better Crop". Could maybe make those give double the food output, like the vanilla crop food value.

Maybe all of those require increasing levels of Science! perk?

    Great mod!

At the moment those variants in the Institute and V81 have higher chances for giving you fresh variants. :) I did have an idea to tie some perks into the mod, so I'll def keep this in mind.

IMO, Fresh should have the lowest yield.   Why?
#01:   Fresh.    These are seeds that have not been genetically modified.    They grow great in a controlled environment like a vault....
#02:   Normal.   These are seeds that have been genetically modified, even to the extent to limit the exposure of radiation in the years leading up to October 2077.
#03:   Wild.   These are "fresh" seeds that have been genetically modified by the Fallout radioactive environment.

The one you'd want should have the least yield, the most nutritious benefit AND require a very controlled environment to grow in.
Otherwise you are asking for the easy way out.   Plant "fresh" anywhere, increase the yield and make the rest irrelevant.
In other words, planting a "fresh" plant outdoors should yield "wild" seeds, not "fresh" seeds.    Even in Greenhouses.

Do you have any idea how this would interact with Sim Settlements 2? (or 1, I guess) Does it require a patch?

Its not compatible with the food production plots specifically, you'd need a patch to have those work on the same concept. But, otherwise, it should be fully compatible. :)

This sounds SOO freaking awesome!!! I've always wanted an expansion to the farming aspect in fallout, I love farming in games I don't know what it is haha.. I love it in Sims and I always love it in fallout 4. I've always been bothered by the fact that you need other people to tend to them as opposed to just yourself watering them (I know there's a mod that changes that, but for whatever reason I've been a little nervous using it).. Could it be possible that with seasons (figuratively.. like after so many in game days) passing or so many harvests the crops can die out? It would be neat too if there was some way to get seeds from your crops and over time they could increase in value as opposed to like seeds from a wild plant.. but I'm sure all these ideas are prolly like waaay out of the scope of what could be possible in fallout.. sorry! Anyway, I'm *SOOO* excited about this mod! Thank you so much! Definitely looking forward to having this in my mod list!

I think with clever usage of hidden perks you could get some of those ideas to work, but for me that is beyond what I want for this simple mod. I appreciate the enthusiasm about the mod!

Keep an eye out for the next few days, I should have it entirely compatible with the DLC by the end of the week. :)

You wrote, "Every plant-able crop now requires seeds to plant, usually 9 seeds. Seeds can be obtained by manually harvesting crops...You will always get at least 1 seed from any harvest, either wild of domestic."

Does that mean I have to harvest between 3-9 plants to get enough seeds to plant one new plant?

It does, starting farms is a bit harder now but once they get going they are self sustaining. Wild variants give you the most seeds per harvest.

Understood, thank you. I'm about to start a new game today, so will include this mod.
