Hey. I'm into the whole Automatron thing in F-4,but there does not seem to be as much variety or amount of related mods as there once was. Anyway, nice to see your mod. I've recently arrived in Far Harbor on my latest play-thru,and a bunch of Vim bots will certainly liven-up the normally dull, dark and less-than-dangerous interior. Thanks for the work.
Impossible. It is impossible for it to do what you describe. This mod doesn't affect lever action rifles, nor their parts. It merely adds a single NEW record copied of a lever gun. As you can see, FE000008 is not an ID associated with lever action rifles.
If you say so friend but their values went back to normal after uninstalling this mod and in one of your images shows the "taste of Maine" rifle at 1 damage. Dunno what to tell ya....
Tested it (image 2) and fact checked that 1 dmg statement (image 1). Not caused by my mod. To be clear, in the image it shows it as 27 damage. Again, that's NOT a lever action rifle, but a separate duplicate of it. A FE000008 custom record. It doesn't interact with the original at all, whatsoever. The fact that it went back means that some of your other mods "might: conflict with this one, or that the installation was wrong, such things happen. None of them have anything to do with my mod.
My guess is that some mod of yours modifies or touches poison damage and somehow messes with your guns.
It is impossible for this mod to do what you have described in proper install conditions.
While patching my mods in Fo4Edit, I noticed many objects in the Vim headquarters have been incorrectly replaced. Is this what it's supposed to look like? link to example
Definitely not. I tested my mod on a clean installation, it isn't an issue that appears with this mod, so it's on your side - most likely a mod conflict or something like that. In the past UFO4P had some serious issues regarding Far Harbor, so it may also be that. But I try not to troubleshoot other mods.
I'd remove the "lore friendly" tag, as the handys spraying irradiated mist doesn't really make sense, as vim isn't inherently radioactive like nuka-cola is.
I disagree. Quite strongly, in fact. On both the sense part and the lore friendliness. Here's the explanation.
Entire Far Harbor is covered in irradiated mist caused most likely by the mist of Maine itself. Maine is incredibly radioactive. All you have to do is fill up the handy with literal water instead of Nuka-Cola. Or expose the Vim container (the battered up Frothy - which is showing the effect of time) to a radioactive location - such as Far Harbor. Where it is.
I'd argue that spraying irradiated mist is on the same level of usefulness as spraying irradiated mist from Nuka-Cola - the part is called a mister (that's not my name, that's the name from the game itself).
Given that Vim products, such as the Vim machine, are very similar to Nuka-Cola, and that the entire USA is motivated by capitalism, it's not that hard to guess that the parts for robots - such as Mr Frothy, and the Nukatron - would be sold to other companies. The right to bear arms comes to mind as well.
Last but not least... have you heard of watering cans? :D There's no reason why the handy would have to be originally a weapon. If it were a simple gardener (we've seen handies used as gardeners many times, including in the intro cinematic) it would find the mister quite useful. Over the time, of course, refilling itself with the irradiated water, the stream would turn deadly.
And thus we come to a simple, lore-friendly reason why these robots exist a. The robot could've been a gardener, a simple explanation why it would have water powered misters b. The water is radioactive, a simple explanation why the misters would be radioactive c. The Vim! logo would be a simple branding for marketing purposes d. The parts were obviously sold for profit by the capitalistic mindset of their creators
And if that reason isn't enough... there's no actual reason why they have to contain Vim. They can just be stolen repainted Nuka Cola robots full of Nuka Cola.
Frankly, there's a plethora of ways these robots can exist within the scope of lore-friendliness, those are just few of the ways^ that I thought of on the spot :D
