I have a power armor from a mod and it just displays "Power Armor" with this mod installed, my other power armors display "Power Armor Frame." I am also getting stuck in the power armor that doesn't have Frame in the name. Am I experiencing a cell reset bug...?
How did you manage the renaming? I'm just asking since this basically keywords frames while you work on them. I was expecting something more like the weapon and armor renaming at their respective workshops. Neat concept nonetheless.
Thanks for your mod, I've looking for and easier way to do this. I made the cell reset "bug" useful by making power armor factories. My found frames are much more valuable now, and farmed PA pieces are disposable. It's also cool having some ammo and caps in my footlockers to collect every time I return. I think the type of power armor that spawns on found frames depends on your level when you discover the cell. For me Sanctuary produces T45, T60b at the castle, and X01 mk III at Spectacle Island. Needless to say, my settlers are very well equipped now. Thanks to you now I can easily tell which frames are my producers.
I always scrapped all items - which includes the power armor frames - in settlements and built new ones.... i thought player built frames are safe from cell-reset-bug? So my english is not the best, but i understand it right, that i do not need this mod when i'm doing that to be on the safe side?
But you dont build PA frames... you build PA stations... frames you found across the wasteland are already build and that means they can reset any time ... Am i correct? You can get PA frames in two ways: found them on wastelands or buy them from vendors. You can't construct your own PA frame as far i recall.
edit: I made new PA workstation and my PA-frame-container still keeps reseting so it doesn't work for me. Because, i think, Power Armor Workstation isn't a container, its the PA-frame-container that keeps reseting
That's basically the same as buying one Stone-D and it's "delivered" to the settlement you want it (i think, never bought any frame and i watch out for mods that cell reset).
Well..... i missunderstoud frame and took it for the stations. I learned english in school 25 years ago und do not use it often, so i'm sorry für messing things up here :-(
Could someone please explain what the cell reset bug is for those of us who haven't read about it or encountered it (or I should say I haven't encountered it to my knowledge).
EDIT: I just looked it up and it has something to do with containers I guess. I always store stuff in my own built containers, not sure if that matters. But I guess what I'd like to know is how this bug effects the power armor frames?
Containers you build yourself are safe. If they are buildable due to a mod (like Homemaker or SSEx), then you're only at risk if an update does something to those containers and you didn't safeguard your items by moving them out.
Power Armor Frames are glorified containers. This is why frames are affected.
Thanks, but how exactly does the bug effect PA? For instance, you put your PA arms, legs, chest and helmet into the frame and come back x days later and it's gone? Or does it take PA you've modified (A to B, for example) and make it default again? Just curious because I've never had any problems leaving my PA in the frame for days on end (again, not that I'm aware of).
It resets it to default - the state it is in when starting a new game and when entering a cell for the first time. This reset occurs, I think, when a mod affects a world cell and is updated, removed or just glitches.
As a case example, say you get a PA frame from the Forge boss, then replace the contents with fully upgraded X01 components. When the cell reset occurs, you'll come back to find that it's regular Raider power armor - your precious X01 parts are gone.
I knew something was funky when I searched for "power armor frame" base IDs and a bunch came up. Why did they have to make so many different variants of the same type of object? But then armors and weapons variants share IDs with their base forms so "Heavy Leather" is spawned by console randomly with regular "Leather". And uniques don't actually have unique IDs either, so some kind of rename/attachmod script or whatever is going on whenever Righteous Authority is born into the gameworld.
Just overall a confusing change and I can't wait for the official GECK so this can all be sorted out and the inner-workings can be revealed.
btw, clicking a frame in console and typing "setownership" without the quotes, sometimes makes it safe, and the frames in qasmoke are safe, as far as i have seen, because no one ever edits qasmoke

will you be making a version for the DLC Frames?

That's Lootable Power Armor Frames. It lets you build a frame with a workshop provided you have looted a 'dummy' frame Misc item from an NPC.

As for the frames, they're basically glorified containers. Think of them like that and it makes a bit more sense.
