Unfortunate that Cross Crit causes crashes and is unstable. But hey a crash or two here and there isn't too bad for all those aesthetically pleasing deaths right?
My understanding is: 1) that the CROSS Gore Crits mod uses/swaps a skeleton.nif that may be problematic 2) the crit effect may contribute to general system resource overload, esp. during intense firefights with lots of NPCs/enemy spawns, heavy script burden, camera angle changes, etc... not really the mod's fault or a bug, per se, but rather a game engine limitation...
I've never once had a crash related to the Cross Crit gore mod and i consider it essential in my mod list.
this addition is interesting but not fully lore friendly as Gen-3 synths are not supposed to be robotic underneath. you can see when they are being made in the institute that they have normal human looking skeletons and internal organs and tissues and such. but if you want to role play that they are more like Terminators than Cylon Skin jobs, then to each their own i guess
Just a heads up, I had crashes when using fire weapons, like vanilla flamers or the M2 flamethrower mod, both on single enemies and multiple enemies. Didn't saw it happen with plasma and laser type weapons or flame grenades.
I am having random crashes at the beginning of combat, (enemy type doesn't matter) as soon as they turn red on my compass the game freezes and crashes, do you know if your fix address this issue?
Just a heads up, for anyone having problems with this file there are a couple notes left out of the description that would definitely lead to some of the issues I'm seeing in the comments. The main file is operating off the assumption that you're running the optional file as well, due to the fact that FormIDs for various aspects of the original CROSS Crits plugin were changed for this patch. The *only* way everything will line up is if you use both, or fix the main file by reverting the FormIDs to match the original plugin if you aren't using the optional one as well. Also I've never used the beta update to the original, which might explain why I never encountered any crashes. Using the original 91g file never caused issues in any of my playthroughs.
PS - I think this could be even cooler if it were 'immersified' by swapping Gen3s for Gen2s, considering they do still have terminator bodies underneath. Still cool though, ty!
Nice mod, in fact Gen 3 synths, despite being artificially created, are 100% biological, they have a skeleton, organs, tissue and blood like real humans, this is why they are impossible to differentiate

Thanks a lot I find it impossible to play fallout without your mods for the extra gore AND I'm about to do a heavy flamer playthrough from the start so this should be the icing on the cake when I wipe out them institute dogs!
If possible, how about a new version that causes robots armor parts and synth skin to disintegrate when killed by energy weapons and some kind of option to have robots disintegrate completely instead.
what determines which NPC get this corpse? I have some custom NPCs that I want to have terminator skeleton inside. I mean what should I add on the npcs via Fo4edit?
Do you want to add new skeleton ? If you want other NPCs to have the synth skeleton, then that NPC must have the human race and the synth death item level list. Meaning the NPC have to drop a Synth Component upon death.
I just wanted to have other NPCs to have the synth skeleton. Death Item and human race... I guess it won't work with custom races like nanakochan race? Well I'll test it. Can I replace what death item list would trigger the synth skeleton? I made a custom Synth Component Death Item.
If you're using a custom race then add that race to the additional race section of these armor addons: Synth crit skeleton and end state crit synth skeleton. If thats not working then add the ActorTypeHuman keyword to the custom race.
Added it to additional races of those records and Nanakochan race already had Actortypehuman keyword.
Though I might just need a new game or something because I remember the custom death item I used didn't really set in until a bit later. oh wait, I changed the death item in the quest with a custom death item. Would that complicate things?
It's a fun mod that you should totally try, but if you don't want to you can install the mod and disable the plugin. The needed textures are in loose files from the mod.

Please try out the fix and tell me if it helps or not.

YMMV
