Would it be possible to do this with companions too? The settlers are never an issue for me but companions *constantly* crowd me while building... Only thing that works is disabling AI in console via TAI command. Annoying a-holes.
This is a good direction but is taking some getting used to. It is a little weird that everyone just stops working completely, guards leave their posts, people walk off of the crop fields, and, most importantly, brahmin leave the trough to ramble through the settlement. I realize now that that is supposed to happen but maybe they could stay put in future versions? I always put them at the edges for a reason. This also definitely affects companions in some way or at least Curie anyway. I have had only her with me since adding this and she moves away for sure but comes running back once I exit building mode. Thanks for all the mods!
They scatter very far... Where and what needs to be changed to reduce the radius of their scattering? And by the way, how many game points of distance are there in a meter, approximately?
Does this work for companions? Don't have much interference while building from NPCs but lots from companions, and trying to bring up the STAY dialogue with some can can be rather annoying...
Eh, I can't seem to get Dogmeat or my companions out from under me in workshop mod or using crafting stations. It's so weird. I *wish* they'd sandbox more, especially dogmeat, because he makes a point of running right to me then moment I start workshop mode. rofl
I'm with Doug & Wabba here, in my game I'm mostly with Curie or Piper and their vanilla behaviour seems to usually get themselves repeatedly in the way while I'm in workshop mode (but not in crafting mode) - they're nearly always around and often wandering right in front of me, and def don't go and stand at any workshop! And yet conversely my settlers (again, vanilla) are usually not an issue. They tend to wander off and/or stop coming near me to do their stuff. That said, my settlements are mostly small 5 to 8 person affairs except for 18 at the castle (but they're spread out there), so accept if I had big/busy settlements it could well be an issue.
Maybe in small, low density settlements the settlers can easily act as intended in workshop mode whereas in big/busy modded ones they get confused and need to be shoved out the way. While for companions in my poxy little settlements they've hardly ever got anything else to do and so, easily bored, when I'm doing something they quickly come and get in my way - that's how it feels anyway!
I don't use multiple-companion or behaviour mods. And in this playthru the settlements were vanilla (except some workshop items).
In my experience some companion's sandbox while others literally hover all over you in workshop mode. Even the ones that do sandbox away periodically come back with increased frequency and if you have a number of them following you grouped together, getting the stay button can be challenging.

Here's an idea... build a bunch of idle markers or a BAR first that will keep them occupied. :-)

Here take some more Jet Mama..
the default "greet" or talk by npc's is abit "too short".
And I'm just going to put down this store next to the other.. why are you standing there in that open space!
Tnx for the mod.
