Hi. I've tested CWSS v4.01 in detail, and I have no problem running 2000x2000 size textures in my game. I suspect some of you have some weird conflict with another mod or third-party tool. However, I didn't intend for those two textures to be of non-standard size, so I have updated my mod to V4.011 with those two textures corrected. The link to the new CWSS is on my forum user profile page under "About me". I can be contacted via PM. Cheers.
Yes check the note in the mod description and sticky from the CWSS author at the top of the comments saying so. I left the mod up in hopes that it would lead more people to download the newest version of CWSS.
Good show, but CWSS is a very old mod and functionally rather buggy in other ways too. I'd suggest Nothing Fancy Hot Showers instead which is much newer, doesn't attempt all the fancy shark-jumping features of CWSS, and consequently isn't a much-patched bugfest either.
NPCs won't use that one though. Build Your Own Pool has showers/pools NPCs will use, but also a ton of scripts that may be problematic. Not lots on offer when it comes to functional & immersive "furniture".
Been using CWSS since it came out and its fine, an excellent mod I can't play without. Nice when combined with universal bathroom features. Have had very few issues with it, far less than other mods at this level of complexity. Hot showers is nice but it only offers a fraction of what CWSS offers.
I've never experienced these problems with CWSS whatsoever at all .. and as for running BYOP along with Settlement Activity Markers and other immersive mods together .. as long as the section (upper middle) of your load order that contains these mods is never turned into a merry go round you should be okay
@wolfgrimdark Universal Working Bathroom Fixtures (CWSS and DLCs) apparently breaks precombines all over, so you might have had performance issues you didn't subscribe to it. Would love to use UWBF to distribute CWSS working toilets (that NPCs would use) all around, but it's not worth the risk I think...
I've sampled other shower mods but they don't even come close to matching the quality and functionality of CWSS. I love it so much. If CWSS didn't exist I probably wouldn't even use any shower mod at all- the alternatives kind of suck by comparison.
@wolfgrimdark Agreed! CWSS is one of my staple, can't-play-without mods. I've used it for years, without issue, and my FO4 installation is extremely stable.
CWSS is an amazing mod, and I have used it for years. The latest version, 4.1, however has more than just these files with this issue. It also extends to the wall pieces that attaches to showers and the skirt pieces that attach to the bathtubs.
Would love to find a version that works again as the Advanced Needs mods are made directly compatible with CWSS.
it is really a pitty that the original mod author of CWSS is not around on nexus anymore to provide updates and fixes for these mods anymore and we have to wait for gems like these. Also congratz on hotfile.
so ya know I got a website right? more than willing to create a fallout 4 section for mods, so you may host on something besides dropbox! , lmk if you'd be interested, the site is new so wont have thousands of members but hey could be a start :)
As a modding newbie I had to figure out on my own how to make the correction and replace the file with the wrong texture in CWSS Redux.I know that for mod creators what I'm going to say here is irrelevant, but for people like me who know little about this area, it could be very useful. When you install CWSS Redux ( https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/users/3463396?tab=about+me ), Vortex leaves it packed in the mods folder, making it impossible for you to manually fix it, i.e. , there is no point in downloading the fix and having Vortex install it, nor is there any point in manually putting the file there, at least for me it didn't work, so I did the following:Download and install CWSS Redux by throwing the .zip folder into Vortex. After installation, go to the folder where the mod is installed.Download and install https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/17061, don't get the zipped version, get the installer to have the file options in the mouse menu.Follow the tutorial below:
When you install the mod it will be in this format inside the mod folder (packaged)
Right-click and extract the two files CWSS Reudx - Main.ba2 and CWSS Redux - Textures.ba2 in the same folder
The files will look like this:
I recommend deleting the two files CWSS Reudx - Main.ba2 and CWSS Redux - Textures.ba2, but if you are unsure about this create a backup folder and place them there. Now download the fix from this page manually, it contains the texture you need to replace the one that causes the failure, copy it and place it in the CWSS texture folder, replace it when prompted.
It's ready, mod fixed. I've already tested it here and it works without problems, colonists using showers and bathtubs without the game crashing. Hope this helps.
The way the game works is any loose files that are loaded (like the fix in this mod) automatically take priority and overwrite identical files located in BA2 archives on game load. No need to unpack or open the archives. So that's how this mod is able to work as it is. You certainly can pack the fix into the archive if you have the knowledge, but there is no need to and for many people it introduces too much room for error which is why I didn't mention it.
All you need to do is allow vortex (or any mod manager) to install this mod by itself it will work perfectly fine, no need to manually put it anywhere, no need to open files at all. If that wasn't working for you it could be your individual vortex settings or some other issue unique to your setup because it seems to be working correctly for everyone else.
Yes you are correct, there is something wrong with my configuration here.I used MO2, it made these substitutions automatically, all I had to do was choose the right option, but I was angry with this manager because every time I played I had to correct the load order, so I started using Vortex.I installed your file through the manager, I installed it manually, and both times it didn't work, as I really wanted to use this mod, I investigated how to get the texture in there. If it works for everyone else I'm happy, but if anyone has a problem similar to mine, the way I did above solved it.Anyway, thanks for the correction, I even know how to use photoshop, but I couldn't do it right. (I would probably mess up when trying to fix the file)
Yes they are, I have 230 mods installed, most of them from loose files, when I installed the game it was one of the first things I did. It's another thing that I haven't been able to identify yet.
I agree that MO2 is far superior to Vortex, I used it for a long time, but as I'm new to this world of mods I created a lot of complications that I couldn't resolve and ended up breaking the game a few times. For those who have a reasonable knowledge of mods, of course it is preferable to use MO2, but for guys like me who are still starting out in this area, Vortex becomes a better option.I'm trying to learn and maybe in time, I'll get rid of this Vortex crap.
Great job for putting this up. I noticed this problem and had the same results pointing to this texture several times. Usually would crash when dealing with the tile showers. I fixed it as well, but I reduced it to 1024. (I also changed cwss_Tiles003_n.dds as it was also at 2000x2000) Seems to work for me, at least not crashing when dealing with the CWSS objects and no crash reports pointing that direction.
I also use the application mentioned below by kittyowilder, which is very helpful for that kind of stuff, as well as DDS Texture Scanner & BSA Browser.
Yeah, I gave up on doing the shower stall installs 'cause crashes. Just knowing the odd size problem means I may be able to fix what's amiss myself if this mod doesn't 😃
What program did you use to change and rename the files? I can extract BA2, but I can't modify it, do you know of a tutorial that teaches how to do this?
@seraphael Oh no, she's able to wash in the shower OK 😁 though the shower stalls themselves probably get soggy 'cause drywall and lattice underwalls, etc 🤷🏽♂️ In real life I'd get that fixed for sure 😄
