It's been 15 years since I last picked up 3D modeling, back in the olden days of 2012. A lot has changed, with fancy new programs for baking and
texturing, but the fundamentals remain the same. So why take it up after all this time? To prove to myself that I still got it.
So, here's what you can expect from this mod, and any future mods I make. All my mods should be lore and game friendly, fitting the ascetics and feel of Fallout. They should be balanced, and fit a unique role within the sandbox. My goal is to make it feel like it belongs. Additionally, all mods should also have the following:
- FOMOD with customization and optional patches such as tactical reload and munitions.
- Custom Animations for the player, Power Armor, and Super Mutants (if appropriate).
- Custom sounds
- Leveled list integrations
- Tons of attachments
- Multiple uniques,
- Multiple different skins.
- ESP tagged as ESL
So, without further ado, onto the M50. I saw the weapon on Forgotten Weapons earlier this year, and it struck me as a design that would fit perfectly into the Fallout sandbox. Most alternate weapon mods being cylindrical, this is a nice boxy shape would be a nice difference. It will be an easy-to-produce and maintain SMG, used by raiders, gunners, or the up and coming minutemen. Since having it made by Madsen doesn't make much sense lore-wise, I've instead switched the manufacture to Independent Arms Group. This faction currently lacks iconography and detailed lore, only having produced one attachment in Fallout 76, giving me a blank slate with which to work with. All of my upcoming weapon mods will be made by this company, so I call this the first in the Independent Arms series.

The M50 was a very stable low rate of fire platform in real life and I have carried that over into the game. It boasts a modest 550 rounds per minute, and has limited range. It is available in both full auto and semi-automatic. The weapon was chambered in both .45 ACP and 9mm, so both are supported in the mod via munitions. If you do not run munitions, you can have only the .45 version.
9mm begins spawning at level 4 in semi-automatic and the .45 begins spawning at level 20.

Various people helped out and answered questions that I am sure I am forgetting from Collective Modding.
If you would like to collaborate in the future, please contact me on discord. I would love to not have to do all this myself, and work with others on weapons. I never considered myself an animator, however my favorites from this are the melee and run animations.
