Hmm, the argent plasma cell ammo from the DOOM BFG creation club mod is actually a matswap of the vanilla fusion cells. I'm guessing the new fusion cartridges of the plasma rifle can be visually patched to be argent plasma cells through implementing the same matswap? I consider making the plasma rifle use argent plasma cells as an ammo swap attachment since the creation club mod adds them to vendor level lists even though the BFG is a unique weapon. If this works, electron cell matswap from Munitions should work as well.
My headcanon explanation for the introduction of plasma cartridges is that plasma cartridges provide a more efficient means of plasma generation than microfusion cells or small energy cells, but plasma weapons adapted for the new cartridges never made a full rollout or are for other reasons not evenly distributed throughout the wasteland. The plasma rifles in New Vegas take multiple cells per shot and can fire only twelve shots before reloading, supporting this idea that MF cells are not efficient for plasma generation. Meanwhile, the base shot capacity for plasma rifles that use the plasma cartridges is 30, far superior to MF cells. But that's just my own in-universe explanation.
Honestly this would make sense. Bethesda always be weird about the changes they make, but can be interesting in their own ways with a little thought and imagination. Though kind of wish Bethesda would own up to their retcons and explain discrepancies themselves, but that is asking too much. Haha
what is the green plasma made of? it's not a beam, blast, or wave so unless the plasma gun is making some kind of ionic matrix, delicate pressurised film, or science miracle(like stimpacks), it's gotta have matter. the lore says it's a "plasma toroid". this isnt even a pseudoscientific explanation, it's a shape description that doesnt match the projectile in-game.
I don't know. To me, it appears to be some stereotypical Sci Fi "icky toxic goo" but not the radioactive kind. In real life, plasma can look and behave differently as far as I know and also have a wide range of colors too.
The "not being bright" thing seems to be an oversight or laziness on part of the developers. Since the magazines and some concept art also depicts it as glowing.
Bethesda knows that the modders will correct their mistakes or resolve inconsistencies in their own way. In my opinion, this is also the reason for the generous mod support for the Fallout games, because if it weren't for that, Bethesda would constantly have to release patches for all the bugs in their games.
