Download THE LATEST VERSION of the hotfix(if any is available)
Merge The hotfix into the main file, overwriting any files in the main file
Follow the steps in the following guide on how to properly repackage the .ba2 vanilla files
----.ba2 Repackaging Guide----
!!!~IMPORTANT~!!! When you finish saving a repacked .ba2 file, go into folder "1" and delete everything there before extracting another vanilla .ba2 file to folder "1" (Archive2 can be found at Bethesda.net but you must first create a Bethesda.net account and download the Creation Kit) Once the Creation Kit is downloaded, Archive2 can be accessed in this file path "Bethesda.net Launcher\games\Tools\Archive2"
Make a backup of your original textures.ba2 files, they're +20gb in total and not fun to re-download if something goes wrong.
Create a folder on your desktop called "working"
Create folders "1" and "2" inside of that folder
Extract TOP's contents into folder "2" leaving folder "1" empty for now
Open Archive2, select "File >Open"
Navigate to your FO4 Data folder and open a vanilla texture.ba2 file(such as "Fallout4 - Textures1.ba2")
Once Archive2 has loaded the contents of the .ba2 file, extract the contents to folder "1" inside the "working" folder
Open the "working" folder, deselect any folders, Shift+Right click and select "Open command window here"
In the newly opened CMD prompt, type this exactly as I do(spaces included but without quotes)
Type "robocopy " then click and drag folder "2" into the CMD prompt and add a space after it
Drag folder "1" into the CMD prompt and add a space after it
Type "/s /xl" The finished code should look like "robocopy C:\Users\owner\Desktop\working\2 C:\Users\owner\Desktop\working\1 /s /xl"
Press enter and there should be a flood of text as specific files are automatically replaced in folder "1" If there is no flood of text, re-read all the steps so far to make sure you didn't miss something
Go back to Archive2 and select "File >New" select "DDS" as the format and leave everything default and select "OK"
Select "Archive >Add Folder..."
Navigate inside folder "1" and select the "Textures" folder
Select "File >Save As..." and save with the original .ba2's name(such as Fallout4 - Textures1.ba2)
Repeat steps 4-16 with each individual vanilla .ba2 until you have all of the vanilla .ba2's completed When you finish saving a repacked .ba2 file, go into folder "1" and delete everything there before extracting another vanilla .ba2 file to folder "1" (It should be noted, once again, that it is ABSOLUTELY IMPERATIVE THAT YOU DO THIS TO EACH VANILLA BA2 INDIVIDUALLY!)
Move the original .ba2 to a backup folder on your computer then replace where it originally was with your new .ba2
[center]If every step was followed in this guide you should have a buttery-smooth Fallout4! Congratulations!
As a completely Optional recommendation I recommend including FAR - Faraway Area Reform into this process as well! ...even though SparrowPrince left the nexus for an unknown reason... :'( (It may be possible to use B.A.E. - Bethesda Archive Extractor instead of Archive2. However, since I have not, and will not, test it, any bugs that happen because of it, do not post comments about it)
Great job, better stability is perceived and there is no FPS loss in places with many objects. One problem is that large objects such as trees, walls and so on can be seen the loss of quality in the textures. I avoided following the tutorial for creating ba2 files, just use Archive2 to replace the textures and avoid so much unnecessary work
PS: For those who are going to use this mod, omit the file “Fallout4 - Textures7.ba2” it does not receive any texture replacement
i dont know how much fps i got from this but theres alot of weird texture going on like weird grass and overly smooth texture in some places. not so obvious but if you stop shooting and look around . will aslo make slow texture stream/pop in when use with another texture on top even if its ba2 archive.
I did this and everything is ok, but, in Vortex Mod Manager there is a notification saying: "Loose files may not get loaded". What should i do with that?
The method for doing this is quite literally taking the games files and overwriting them in a new archive then using those new archives for the entire game. This has the effect of both reducing how much raw data is present by reducing resolution and not loading everything as an overwrite on loading the game. This:https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/59769?tab=description&BH=0 Is a already packaged ba2 archive which can work as an overwrite for the files this replaces which (probably) has a similar effect in reducing how much data has to be loaded in textures with downscaling and might be less conflict prone then this but requires the game to still load every texture both in the original files and that ba2 archive and then compare for conflicts which i imagine could cause a bit of a loadtime increase at least on the starting of the game.
Works as advertised, on oldgen with aged computer, was struggling with framerate and some stability, has given 20-30fps boost and much more solid at 59fps, with no obvious weirdness or noticeable loss of visual fidelity. I'm quite pleased with this, saves me forking out on a new pc for a while longer.
For whatever reason this overrides my other textures mod - even if I make absolutely sure I install this first and let those other mods overwrite it after. I was going crazy for a week, trying .ini tweaks to fix mipmaps as none of the other mods were seemingly working, but as soon as I uninstalled this - all my other texture mods sprung back to life.
No idea why, and it has never happened before. Possibly something with Next-Gen has made it.. wonky? Which is a shame, because this is a mod I couldnt play without before, but that I am now forced to play without.
has aaaanyone gotten this to work lately? I installed using both the script and manually but 3x but the only thing I see when I play is purple. I can recognize different objects/people but all is in purple

Search "how to take ownership of a folder windows" on google and follow those steps for every folder and file you'll be using.
