2. Download and unzip Optimum ReShade, but before copying my files, rename my reshade dxgi.dll to d3d11.dll and save all 3 files to the main Fallout 76 folder.
I doubt I'll ever get an answer so I looked into it myself and found it out. This is ReShade V1.1 so if you guys want to change the activation key to something else, go to Common.cfg in the ReShade folder and look for #define RFX_ToggleKey VK_SCROLLline and change VK_SCROLL to whatever key you'd like. You can find the values corresponding to each key either online or from the KeyCodes.h file in the PersonalFiles folder. Path: Fallout76\ReShade\PersonalFiles Personally, I just changed VK_SCROLL to VK_SPACE so it's tied to the spacebar. Cheers.
The version Original OPTIMUS RESHADE: Improves the visual appearance, makes the game a little less colorful. Lighter and less blurry, eliminating the washing effect. You will notice that the game becomes a bit colorless but that is in line with the apocalyptic plot of the game.
I have loaded two versions, different from the original:
*SWEET version: is much more colorful and vibrant, it eliminates the washing effect of the game, improving the appearance and definition. See in the latest images
*NATURAL version: It uses the original colors of the game, it only eliminates the washing effect, it improves the visual aspect and the definition. See in the latest images
If you are bothered by the blur or the depth of field that comes with the game by default, I recommend you use the file that appears with the name "No DOF / Motionblur", is in the downloads. The game looks beautiful.
Attached to downloads the option without black borders of film.
Use OPTIMUM RESHADE, which is the original preset and was created for that purpose. The optional files are simply secondary for different tastes. I recommend you try the original and if you do not like the look, try the secondary files ... Enjoy it.
For someone like me who really likes the reshade but would like to make it just a tad more colorful, any suggestions on what to configure? If not I can just dig through the settings and post my findings here if I get anywhere.
For those looking to use this along with other mods that use or modify the dxgi.dll file (such as SFE), simply rename *this* mods dxgi.dll to d3d11.dll.
Still works in 2025. However... while standing still it looks much more crisp, now when moving everything especially the grasses have that nasty flicker/ghosting effect. Is there a way to get rid of that? Or is it again that nasty creation engine + TAA effect crap that drove me also crazy in FO4?
Fallout 76 refuses to start on an MSI laptop with this mod. It crashes 5 seconds after launch. However, if you connect an external monitor to the laptop, everything works. Tried on 3 MSI laptops.
which folder do i place this in on steamdeck? I placed it in the main folder designated by number for FO76 and changed the config to VK_SPACE and it didnt work. Are there any steamdeck users that found success and could you share the location you ppaced the folder please?
I'm trying to install this, but it doesn't seem to work, I even changed the hotkey. I'm also playing through Xbox Game Pass. Edit: Nevermind it works. I placed everything in the Contents folder and renamed dxgi.dd to d3d11.dll as some have stated. This ReShade makes Fallout 76 feel like a next gen game, incredible!
Microsoft version? They fucked it, need to work around it if not using Steam. Rename dxgi.dll to dx11.dll and put files in Content folder, should work. (Or google a game pass reshade version)

COMPATIBILITY:
For those looking to use this in conjunction with other mods that use or modify the dxgi.dll file like:
SFE https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout76/mods/287
1. First download and install SFE.
2. Download and unzip Optimum ReShade, but before copying my files, rename my reshade dxgi.dll to d3d11.dll and save all 3 files to the main Fallout 76 folder.
It is the most effective and it works.

Still works for me as of April 2023.

Or SWEET is more colorful than NATURAL?
NATURAL mantiene el mismo color del juego
Your eyesight will thank you

Natural preset btw.
