There is a map from Ultimist (Ultimist's High Detailed Map PLUS) that i'd like to use as a base, but i don't know how to repack them back. How to do that?
Thank you again for this. I have also now created a written guide to achieve this: https://github.com/AHeroicLlama/Mappalachia/blob/master/User_Guides/Game_map_mod.md
Seems like a really handy tool, what should i search and tick to display Traders and Vendors -edit: think i got it aha -edit again: no turns out i only got the ones marked Vendor because some just use normal names, like the 3 at NukaWorld.
Otherwise stoked by this, i've noticed the program offers jpeg and png, will it save working dds's as well and if not, could it in the future?
Glad you worked it out. As you have found, Mappalachia runs off the raw data for entities as coded by BGS, which can sometimes become a burden when names are inconsistent.
DDS export is not implemented due to complexity, the image is supplied in a common format and any further work is left to the user.
Thank you - I've had requests on a tutorial for turning Mappalachia maps into game map texture replacement mods for PC, and I intend to work on that next.
Was there ever any progress on that front @AHeroicLlama? I asked about dds' but after more digging obviously we'd need more to make the file work unless we were just doing what something like the community calendar does and just replaces the original, i think most of us would want to make our own books, simple enough to throw another dds into the uni or 4ksample folder and add new lines to the uni config, but apparently not without a ba2 to go with it..?
I don't really know about uni map - this guide is to generate a standalone mod to replace the map image. I will warn though, that it appears the in-game map marker placement is marginally offset, so placing a map marker onto the Mappalachia plot is slightly off, but very close. I'm currently trying to work on a way to calibrate for that, but still keep the plots truly accurate.
Sorry, Mappalachia is only available in US English.
Part of the problem with translation is that Mappalachia relies on datamined info which is of course in Bethesda's native language, US English. To translate Mappalachia we'd also need to translate thousands of phrases which are not automatically translateable because they aren't genuine English but are rooted in English. For example "AMBWeatherRainFakeInteriorPortalmarker" obviously has no direct translation - I'd need to pay somebody to translate approximately 36,000 strings. Any new content released each patch would also need additional translation.
I'd love to support my international users more, and had Mappalachia not been primarily powered by datamined strings, it's something I'd seriously consider. Unfortunately due to its nature, this is unlikely to ever happen. Sorry.
I think it's just a matter of localizing the UI part, and I'd love to help. Even if the functional part is not localized, you will know how to use it after a few tries.
Excellent question, actually that's one of the few things which Mappalachia can't do directly - the fast travel locations appear to be slightly more deeply ingrained in the data as they're disguised as something referred to as XMarkers, but as far as I can tell they use metadata on the XMarkers, rather than for example a "Watoga train station fast travel spot" being a unique entity. For this reason, your short answer is no unfortunately. That doesn't mean it's impossible to find, but it would require a decent amount of work to the initial database extraction process done behind the scenes. You can search for and plot XMarkers, but as the only meta data Mappalachia normally pulls on items is their 'category' (AKA signature), information on lock levels, and their location tag, this information isn't present in the final database, and all XMarkers appear the same.
If I see more demand for this feature it's something I can look to add in future releases.
Thanks for the detailed response, having this feature would be very cool but it sounds pretty intense to figure out :) good luck and thanks for the great program!
What lynxx said. The release on GitHub has all the patch notes - (Depending on your opinion - unfortunately or not), GitHub will always be the primary source for everything Mappalachia.
To expand, Unfortunately I find NexusMods offers a pretty poor release experience - There is no (that I can see) appropriate place for such patch notes. And for every release I have to email them to get it manually approved because their automated system thinks it's malicious. I can't host the source code nor documentation properly here and finally, Mappalachia's automated update checker connects and redirects to the GitHub repo anyway.
In summary I would generally recommend that Mappalachia users download from GitHub wherever possible as for me it is the place where Mappalachia lives. I'm primarily on NexusMods as an avenue for new users to discover Mappalachia.
With that said, I appreciate everyone who continues to download and endorse via NexusMods as I'm always happy to find more 76'ers to make use of the tool.
Yes GitHub will remain as the primary home for Mappalachia, and it's where updates will be sourced from - but being on Nexus Mods allows it to reach more people so why not!

Either way, enjoy the endorsement! :)

I went to the github and found nothing regarding patch notes for this release.
