I can't get past the crafting part of the tutorial. Is it bugged? No, it's not bugged, and you can get through it if you do it right. During the crafting section of the tutorial, you may not have the items needed to craft the things Dennis asks you to. As long as you attempt to craft something, he will move on to the next part of the tutorial. If trying to craft something doesn't work it's because you are doing it too soon and you need to wait for him to finish talking first.
How do I deploy the wingsuit? How do I deploy the parachute? How do I switch between grenades and molotovs? The key to deploy the wingsuit was changed. To deploy it, hold down the jump key while in the air. The key to deploy the parachute is the same key as you'd press to change seats in a vehicle (and that's the key you rebind in the options menu if you want to rebind the parachute key).
The key to switch between grenade types was also changed. The mouse wheel is now used to cycle through the weapons you have equipped, so the key to switch between grenades was changed to G. This can be changed via the options menu in-game.
Do I have to start a new game after installing this mod or switching to a different edition of the mod? Yes! This mod will not work with game saves that were created before the mod was installed, or while a different version of the mod was installed.
Is it possible to get 100% completion with this mod? Due to some of the less useful crafting recipes being merged together, you will not be able to craft the amount of items that are listed in the in-game handbook. Other than that, you can complete every piece of content 100%.
Are you still working on this mod? No, not right now.
I'm getting a lot of messages about the game being updated recently. I'm aware that the update broke this mod, but I am sorry to say that I do not have any plans to fix it for various reasons:
This was one of the first games that I ever made a mod for and so I do not have any edit logs for the changes I made to the files. For almost all of my mods that I made after this one I learned that it is important to keep organized files with information about exactly what changes I made, why those changes were made, and how they were made. But without that information for this mod it means that updating any files that were changed would be very difficult and probably time-consuming.
Ubisoft does not support mod authors for their games in any way, so I do not want to support any of their games with mods that make them more fun to play. In fact, it seems like Ubisoft typically goes out of their way to prevent mods in their games just to protect their anti-consumer microtransactions (which is ineffective anyway, so putting those safe-guards in place seems useless). I have been told many times that my mod is the reason people chose to buy this game and I don't want to continue encouraging people to buy a game made by a company that treats mod authors the way Ubisoft does.
I was never satisfied with the state of this mod. Even though I haven't touched this game in over five years, I still think about it from time to time and am kind of embarrassed at the low quality of certain things and issues that were never able to be resolved (as I said, it was my first mod, I was very inexperienced). But, due to reason #2 above I have no interest in continuing development on this mod, and due to reason #1 above I don't really have the ability to either way.
I'm too busy with other modding projects and personal life things to continue offering support for this mod. I don't respond to comments for this mod any more, and I don't update it for any reason any more. Sorry, but I decided a while ago that the only way I can continue making more mods for games is if I eventually say that I am officially done with a mod and move on from it. I simply cannot support every mod that I make indefinitely. I have so many completed mods sitting on my PC for various games that I have never uploaded because I am concerned that people will expect me to support every one of them forever. Responding to every comment, helping with every reported issue, updating for every random game update... It's just not feasible.
Completely Understandable. While your mod did absolutely change the game for many of us the best we can say here is thank you for the memories. You owe everyone nothing.
Thanks again for all your work and sharing, Kudos and Endorsed long ago!
You can get this to work by NOT using the Bin folder. Only use the, data_win32 folder.
The biggest crime is, DZiggy amazing work is broken because he tried valiantly to only support the Steam Dll files. I.e. he was trying to prevent 'cracks' from working, but most of us hate ubi too for the same reasons. We (most) all buy the game from Steam then use the crack because we hate ubi . But keeps us from using this, the best Far Cry 3 mod, fully.
Personally, if DZiggy could just fix the Dll files, most all of these problems would go away. It wouldn't be hard to Remove the Restrictive Dll code and it would not require him to worry about all the fixes he can't remember.
I wasn't trying to prevent the mod from working for anyone. I used the .dll files from the original game any made the necessary changes to those files for the changes I wanted in the game. I didn't add any "restrictive code" to the .dll files, I just used a hex editor to remove things from it or modify values. Very simple changes.
People keep saying to just not use the .dll files, but know that if you do that you are removing several features from the mod. Mod authors typically don't include files in their mods for no reason... If the file is included with the mod, it is part of the mod. I tried several years ago to remove the need for the .dll file modifications, but for most of the changes there doesn't seem to be any alternate way of accomplishing the same things through the raw files.
damn I was intending to replay and my far cry 3 download was at 60% when I read this post. cancelled the download before it finished because there's no point playing the game vanilla.
Still want to play this mod so badly. I do own the game on UBI. But how to get the mod to work is still puzzling me. The UBI Version does not include the uplay_r1_loader & ubiorbitapi_r2_loader files. So if one copes the mod files then tries to launch the game it says its missing uplay_r1_loader & ubiorbitapi_r2_loader files. SO HOW. WHAT CAN ONE DO.
Edit. To Everyone looking to downgrade from v1.06 to v1.05. I Have found the Solution Download this. https://www.moddb.com/games/far-cry-3/downloads/patch-1-05-1. It Fixed my Problem. It will downgrade or upgrade Your Steam Or Ubisoft game installation to version to v1.05 and it will give you the original v1.05 uplay_r1_loader & ubiorbitapi_r2_loader files that are missing from the Ubisoft v1.06 Installation. Then you must just disable the games auto update.
i want to install hardcore edition but i dont want these 2 thing
Increased XP required for each skill point. Maps cannot be purchased from the shop.
how can i edit or which file i have to edit and how and which line? canyou help me? also i want to increase XP earn. i want to have all tattaos and skills in %50 in story.
Ok so I have managed to get the game working on steam using legitimate files with as of yet no issues, it'll take a bit of time, screws up Ubisoft Connect integration but just works.
In essence just follow the instructions from https://www.makeuseof.com/how-to-downgrade-steam-games/
The line to put in the console once open is: download_depot 220240 220241 7362101836779063707 (this is the full base games latest version before the 2023 updates - version 1.05)
After thats finished downloading, make a copy of the base fc3 install directory (xxxx\Steam\steamapps\common\Far Cry 3) and the depot download (xxxx\Steam\steamapps\content\app_220240\depot_220241)
Delete EVERYTHING inside the base fc3 folder then copy over everything from inside the depot folder (spares are just backups and depot download is slower than most recent version).
Make sure to turn off auto updates per the original link above.
Copy over mod files and then open game.
Set up keybinds/video/audio settings etc and switched to windowed mode, update settings per the readme from the mod and then save all settings then close down game normally.
Open game up again and start a new game, if its not in windowed mode the opening video with Dennis always seemed to crash for me, once the video is over you can press alt+enter for full screen and no other videos or cut scenes so far have caused a crash.
You might well be able to tighten up parts of the above or keep ubisoft connectivity etc, it was late when I did it, i already have all the achievements so honestly didn't care if they were working or not, all I can say is that as of today and for the few days i've been playing it, its been operating flawlessly with as far as I can see the full mod working.
Thanks for this info! Found this in my library and simple to downgrade. I did have Ubi connectivity with mine (although who cares ;) Just leave the installer in the game root and run once from steam. So to clarify, delete everything EXCEPT the connectivity installer and proceed. Seems to be running fine...kudos
Thanks for the tutorial! I followed everything you said correctly and even managed to keep the Ubisoft Connectivity thanks to what @wellden said, despite being at version 1.05.
Aye. Can comfirm this works! Thanks all in this thread. Kept: UbisoftConnectInstaller.exe Didn't include Ziggy's "bin" folder. So, basically: Win+R -> steam://open/console In the Steam console: download_depot 220240 220241 7362101836779063707
It confuses me (but made sure to keep backups) is changing update to "only when I launch", won't it update when I start the game? How to I get the Option you seemed to mention about Skipping the install, is it because you removed the ubi launcher?
About to try a Test Run after installing, downloading Depot, backing up both, deleting install, copying Depot and starting the game.
@xstioph If you didn't include the bin folder, you missed the 2 .dll files and Dziggy says this right above our heads:
"People keep saying to just not use the .dll files, but know that if you do that you are removing several features from the mod. Mod authors typically don't include files in their mods for no reason"
If you downgraded your game, there's no reason to exclude the bin folder that I see.
This is how i've managed it. Took a little wiggling around because it downloaded it into my default steam location - which didn't have drive space lol
But changing the content of the farcry 3 folder with the downloaded later version, then putting the mod over top worked well.
Its a shame ubisofts bloody launcher had to butt in, i really loathe extra crap, and it took longer to work around that than anything else.
I do wish the mod author was willing to try doing it for a cracked version adjusting the dll's for whichever scene release he chooses as he currently says he doesn't wish to suppose Ubi (only reason i brought it on special was to play the mod as i couldn't get it running on the cracked version lol)
At least doing it for a cracked version the version will stay working forever.. its very sad pirating games is just far better service than the awful ubisoft launcher and account - after buying the game from steam.
btw, another solution to prevent future updates is to take Steam's permissions to overwrite the appmanifest file by setting it to read-only, which makes it impossible for Steam to deploy the update after downloading it.
Far Cry® 3 App-ID: ...\SteamLibrary\steamapps\appmanifest_220240.acf
I do this with every new game, as the 2 methods above only restrict the conditions for updating.
Yo. Seems the recent update fixed the mod compatibility issue. At least on my end. I didn't have to downgrade the game, I just copied the mod and it seems to be working fine. I was only on the main menu though. Yet to start a new game and see how it runs.
@Exorius Thanks for this amazing find, Kudos given!
Damn, wish I had know this previously, been on Steam for about 14 years. It probably would have saved me a year of my life dealing with their bullshit updates, lol !
Mhhm just used this mod and got ingame... just asking, why does not the wing-suit deploy? First possible after getting this Agency Guy Drop Down via Storyline to other island?
currently you can't finish the game 100% you don't have all the skills, there's a lack of knockouts and to get all the tattoos you're missing one to level up, not to mention that the syringe crafts are very slow
I just wanna say, that this mod doesn't for for me. I have FC3 on Ubisoft Connect. When I copy and paste files from this mod I have an error, which says something like ubiorbitapi_r2_loader.dll is missing & the game don't even start. When I bring back backup copies of those files - games work.

I did know that only part of the mod would work but half of your mod is better than no mod.
I'll try MonoLOL method to get the proper version to run your mod again.
Kudos to MonoLOL, also for sharing!
