Maybe I'm just so bad luck as I've caught almost every bug with this mod and the optional file mod... emphasis on almost bc I still can't find that stupid deep earthworm! ;v
I don't see it working. Not a single insect from Deep Woods appeared there. (only snowball beetles, crystal caterpillars, and lots of icehoppers, because of winter) Haven't tested Lava Caves.
it won't effect the lava caves any more than it effects the mines. dungeon biome spawns are handled differently from world spawns. there may be something about some of the spawns in deep woods that makes the mod ineffective for them. I have modified the values for the deep woods the same way I modified all other world regions, if it's not working I've done all I can.
This mod has been so helpful! It seems like it doesn’t apply to the two new areas that were added in this week’s update, so that’s the only bummer. But that update has been out less than a week, so I’m hoping an update for this mod will happen in the future. It saved my sanity during Fairy Bee season lol.
I'm not a modder and don't want to take anything away from the original person who wrote this very helpful mod, but I got the new section to work by modifying the 'bugs.json' file.
I went to the three sections that said "haydens_farm", copy and pasted those portions immediately below and changed "haydens_farm" to "deep_woods".
It worked great and I finished the museum bug wing. It still took forever, despite upping the numbers beyond what the original modder set them. I even had about ten to twenty bugs spawn with each entry to the zone.
What in the hell must the NORMAL odds be for that stupid Katydid to spawn...?
Any chance for a more fish spawn mod? Leveling that is such a pain it would be nice if the fish were just more condensed.. it would be nice in the mines too since you can't refresh the floors easily.
it can be done. I saw someone on the discord made something like that for funsies or as a proof of concept. but I don't think they plan on releasing it. it's been like a month since then, so I should be okay to release the same idea. I'll look into it. I looked into artifact spots earlier too, but that produced a lot of crashes.
I think I just realized some more entries I need to make to make it work with map spawns like in the mines, I think right now it just effects spawns from grass and trees. I'm about to go back through the fiddle more closely and look for more places where bugs are referenced. I may have rushed this one out. check back in a couple hours for an update and it should work in the mines.
further investigation shows the majority of bugs in the mines spawn from rocks, which I think the mod as is covers. I can't find any specific spawn rules/numbers for the mines as a location, so it's either handled by the narrow's location modifiers, or bugs in the mines only spawn from rocks. so I think the mod as it is should be good to go for hunting in the mines.
I'd like to piggyback off this comment real quick. I was wondering about the copper beetle. It's found in the upper mines by breaking copper rocks. Since installing this mod, I've been down in the mines for a long time. Getting all the sets, the recipes, etc. I've come across a plethora of worm and millipedes, but they all spawn by breaking not just regular rocks, but also copper rocks. I've not yet seen a copper beetle appear. Would it be possible to check to make sure it still spawns?
I've been in the mines for about an hour now with the 10x Spawn file installed, and I've gotten exactly 3 bugs.. None of which spawned from rocks.. are we sure this mod covers the mines?
Edit: It appears that the mod wont work in the mines unless you start a new day with the mod installed. My above comment was made when I had installed the mod and went into the mines on the say day that I installed it, but it started working the next day.
I've been trying around for a while now, mainly with the upper mines. It seems like the mine insect spawns are influenced by time and weather. Try going into the mines during the day (I don't have the exact hour, but seeing as night insects start spawning at 8PM, I'd take that as the end of daylight) and during weather that is not rain/storm.
Hope it's not just a coincidence on my side and actually helps you.
Edit: Currently at 5:40PM and the bugs are not spawning in the mines (x10 version), even though they spawned previously in the day. So perhaps the spawn is until 4 or 5 PM?

Huh. I've never had a copper beetle spawn from breaking rocks or copper nodes. They were crawling around on the floor right when entering a new floor in the upper mines.
Is there a way to do the same mod but with Dive Spots? To increase their spawn percentage? Also, thanks for this mod, i hope i can finally clear all bug-bundles!
