Error: Can not run this batch file from the Final Fantasy directory.

This is the error I'm getting when I try to install it. This is located in my mods folder where I've installed the HD Models.

If I try to run it elsewhere it fails to find the correct directory and I can't select it myself. Please help.

    Thanks

I’ll have to look into this. Do you have the Steam version of the game?  Does your mod directory reside within the game directory?

I've got the steam version and the mod directory is outside of the game directory, my steam is located on a separate partition though so that could be the cause. I'll move it to where it should be and try again.

Got it to work by moving it from my games harddrive to program files. Thanks

The check to see if the mod is in your game directory isn't too good.  If you had your FF13 game directory in the root of the games hard drive, then it might have mistakenly saw that during it's check.

I'm having an issue installing the mod. Whenever I try to install the mod I get a "length mismatch" and "error 26 modifying hair color". I've tried using this on each character and still get the same error.  The mods I have installed are HD models, body sculpting, and the HD project.

Yeah, I probably broke something with one of the HD mods.  I don't always go back to check to see if all the other mods still work.  I'll try to take a look at it in the next couple of days.

Update: I see the issue, but an trying to track down the root cause.  It may be some incorrect (older) textures in one of the HD mods although I may "fix" it by making this mod a bit more robust.

New version uploaded.  Give it a try.  I expanded the number of paths to check for finding a matching base HD hair texture.  I was able to duplicate your error and this version fixed it for me.

Thanks, the new update fixed the application. On a sperate note, I might have found a way to prevent crashing if you use all the HD mods with DXVK and reshade. I'm pretty sure the game is not large adress aware which means it can only use 2 GBs of ram before crashing. I was able to test this by seeing ram ussage on a modded version of fallout new vegas patched to be large adress aware and seeing the ram ussage on ff13. I was able to go over 4gbs of Vram and 7Gbs of ram for new vegas without any crashes. For ff13 The game crashed at around 3.5Gbs of vram and 6.5Gbs of ram used. I found an applictaion that makes a 32 bit application large adress aware and testsed it with ff13 and got an error. I'm pretty sure ff13's drm is preventing the game from running because the game refuses to boot with special K in the background. I'll see if i can find a solution to this issue.

Setting the LAA bit would probably solve a lot of problems, however as you also found out, it's not quite as simple as it should be due to the Steam DRM.  There was someone that was able to do it with Fallout New Vegas, although I have no idea how that user was able to determine what else to modify to make it work.

I have good news and bad news regarding LAA for ff13. The application that I used to patch fallout new vegas to be LAA did install onto ff13 without the game crashing. I was right on my assumption that DRM was causing the game to crash with it applied because I downloaded a cracked exe and replaced the official steam exe with it, the game booted up just fine with the craked exe and LAA patch applied. The bad news is that the game still crashed due to memory issues. If you want to read up on the program that I used here's the link to the forum page:LAA patcher

There isn't one.... I will download it and try it my myself, but I don't put passwords on the zips.

Update: I just downloaded it and it didn't ask me for a password, so I'm not sure what is wrong. You could try downloading it again. I've tried unzipping it with Windows and with 7-Zip and they both work.

Re-downloaded and used 7-zip and it works fine! I was using peaZip before, not sure why that was happening. Thanx!

Hey how've you been! Its been a hot bit, and I was suddenly feeling like playing XIII again lol.
I tried to use this with the Serah modelswap, and it works fine, but her eyebrows stay the original color; is that something that can be fixed? I have all the latest of the alternate swaps and this mod, so I don't think the issue lies there.

I'd have to look, but it all depends on where the eyebrow texture is located. On some models the eyebrows are colored right on the face texture and this mod doesn't touch the face (more than I would want to tackle). This mod only changes the color of the hair texture which usually includes eye lashes (which I've recently excluded from the main characters) and sometime eyebrows and beards depending on the character.

Could you give me an update when you find out which situation Serah's is? No rush, I'm just curious whether or not you'd be able to fix it.

The eyebrows seem to only be painted on the face texture. I'll look at a couple easy ways to isolate the eyebrows from the face, if any of them pan out, it may be possible to update the mod.

K, so Vanille's all jacked up. Anytime I try to change her hair, a portion of the color I chose will show on the top of her head, but only a section of it, and the rest will be a trippy series of colors, like bright green and purple etc in a random pattern. I did not have any problem at all with Lightning, which is interesting since I'm using the LR version with Rhapsody in Rose outfit. Made her bright blonde, but unfortunately the eyelashes also change with the hair so I gotta go with a dark color for anyone I change.

When I choose (O)riginal, it simply takes me to the color select screen, same as choosing (C)ustom, and that just has the same results. One time I chose (O)riginal, and my computer gave me a loud BEEP noise each time I click O, like some kind of alert, and did nothing. Even choosing one of the preset colors ends up all screwed up. Haven't tried anyone else.

I’m able to reproduce the Vanille problem and a fix should be available within a day. The eyebrow problem will take some additional thought as it’s all part of the same texture map. The ‘beeping’ is part of the MSDOS Choice command when a key doesn’t match one of the expected characters. I’m not sure why you would have received that.
Also, the program would have ignored your color choice when you selected “Original”, but it shouldn’t have asked in the first place.

The issue with Vanille's hair should be fixed in version 1.4. I've also modified the program to not inquire regarding a color when the "Original" option is chosen. Still looking into what options are available for the eyelashes.

I have a "fix" for the eyelashes, but I'm trying to make this mod compatible with the Model Swap HD. At the moment it doesn't work with the HD textures.

Buncha good news so far, thx. I don't use model swap so I'd be fine with any fix you already have.

Ok, you can give it a try. I did a quick test on Fang, Vanille & Lighting and it seems to work (both omitting the eyelashes and with the HD textures). Hopefully the other three work as well.

Edit: I have a problem with the regular hair. Not all mipmaps are being converted to the new color (HD textures work fine). Looking into it.
      Edit #2: Fixed in 1.5.1

I have no idea how to install this. I 'm used to install mods with other games, and I read the readme.txt file both from ff13tools and the haircolors readme text file, and I still dont't have any idea how to install this. I double click Hair Color.bat and It prompts a window for a second and closes it, I did the same thing with ff13tools and also nothing. I need some help with this, any advice?

The fact that you had trouble with this as well as the model swap make me think that there may be a an issue somewhere in Windows, maybe with security settings running batch files. What version of windows are you running? Also, something to try if you can... Run a separate command window and navigate to your mod install directory and run the "Hair Color" from the command window (with the double quotes). Doing it this way will prevent the window from automatically closing when it completes and you may see some additional error information that could be helpful.

Such a random, pointless, craft, totally awesome and skilled mod!

Thanks for yet another killer mod!
