When installing these mods there is a message saying something about being able to run them from the Nova mod manager in unpacked mode, but while playing I highly doubt any of them are working.  From what I have read they don't work, so my question is why does it say while installing that they will work with Nova?

Also I would highly suggest using this guide for modding FF13, especially if you want to use mods + nova
Steam Community :: Guide :: Fixing and enhancing Final Fantasy XIII

    Amazing guide!

The system cannot find the file specified.

Unexpected continuous loop reading FFXIII_ModRun_0.txt.  ExitingPress any key to continue . . .

    this keeps happening, help

Edit: idk, deleting the folder and re-extracting somehow fixed but before, i reapplied the ffxiii fix from github and 4gb patch

I've seen this happen before, it's when the code doesn't ever seem to get the EOF flag (End Of File) so it keeps reading non existent lines.  I put a limit on the number of "lines" read so this is the error that appears when that limit is reached.  In the past this sometimes occurred when there wasn't a blank line after the last text, but that should have been fixed in all the .txt files.  You could try adding a 2nd blank line at the end and see if that helps in the FFXIII_ModRun_0.txt file with a text editor (notepad works fine).

So do these not work if launching the game unpacked through Nova? I run the batch files correctly but I don’t think it’s doing anything.

This mod is not compatible with Nova.  However, there is a patch on the modding discord that allows it to function with Nova in the unpacked mode.

Stupid question but which modding discord are you talking about?

So I felt like commenting for the meme:
I found that with the mod to extend weapon levels to 125 you need exactly 69 compact reactors to get fang and hope's weapons to max level ;)

Hope Hawkeye Nue - 31 reactors at x3 multiplier
Fang taming pole Cain's - 38 reactors at x3 multiplier

For those wondering how many you need with the mod on ^^
(I have only these 2 characters so far so dunno how many everyone else needs)

EDIT: Of course numbers will differ for different weapons, just so happened to be my choice of weapons

I play FFXIII through a Steam Deck, and everytime i try to run one of the .bat files through Steam (since wine or bottles doesn't seem to work too well), i keep getting a prompt on the command line that shows the "white_data/sys" files (filelistu.win32.bin, white_imgu.win32.bin, etc....) as "File Not Found".

I've tried making copies, re-adding them to the folder, reinstalling the game and everything, nothing seems to work.

Is there a way to get these mods working on Steam Deck?

The only way I know to get any of the mods to work on the Steam deck is to install them on a PC and then copy the game files over to the Steam deck.  You don't actually need to run the game (or be able to run the game) on the PC, you are just using the PC to install the mods.

so would i just install everything and then make a copy of the sys folder for the changes and then put them on my steam deck?

Yes, that would be the process.  Depending on what mods you install, you may also need to copy files from the white_data\zone\ directory in addition to the white_data\sys\.  white_data\movie\ would be changed if you install any of the HD FMVs.

You could look at the file modify dates if you want to limit how many you have to copy.

I would like to start off by saying I'm very new to modding. I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong or not but when I extract the folder and start the choosing the mod I want nothing happens. It will find the game in the steamapp/common and add the game but thats it. I do not get the opinion of installing mods. I can double click on the mod i want to use and i get this

This mod changes the normal drop rates based on the battle star rating.
Ratings of 2 or less stars are a normal drop rate while 3 starts and
above give increasing drop rates, up to 2x for a 5 star rating.
    Press (C)ontinue, or (Q)uit: C
    End MOD FFXIII_ModNormalDropRate.txt
    Game automatically set to FF13.
File list processed. 14107 files (16 duplicates) listed in 99 file chunks.
    Added resident/bt_constants.wdb (compressed)
    Updated E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY XIII\white_data\sys\white_imgu.win32.bin
Imported one file to E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY XIII\white_data\sys\white_imgu.win32.bin
    Wrote E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY XIII\white_data\sys\filelistu.win32.bin
    Game automatically set to FF13.
File list processed. 14108 files (16 duplicates) listed in 97 file chunks.
    Added resident/bt_constants.wdb (compressed)
    Updated E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY XIII\white_data\sys\white_imgc.win32.bin

    Wrote E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY XIII\white_data\sys\filelistc.win32.bin
Press any key to continue . . .

after that I get an uninstall app but nothing seems to work. Hopefully i did a good job explaining. Thanks for any and all help.

Great mods, but I'm having an issue when installing the shorter Paradigm Shift mod.

When I run it and following the instructions, I get this error in the command window:

    Press (C)ontinue, or (Q)uit: C
    Select (S)hort Paradigm Shift, or (O)riginal: S
wdb_files\mod\db\resident\bt_camarts_seq.wdb not found in mod\ directory, checking orig\
    Original file found.
Error: ':RENAME' command.  Unable to locate record 'form_change01'.
    End MOD ShortAnimation.txt
Press any key to continue . . .

The ShortAnimation txt file says this:

    db\resident\bt_camarts_seq.wdb
    :NOUNINSTALL
    :RENAME,0,form_change01,form_changexx

Any ideas? I'd love to get this mod working. Thank you so much!

Sounds like it was already installed.  Did you try the game out?  If so, and it's not working, then rerun the mod choosing the original animation, then run it again selecting the short animation and see if it fixes the problem.

It's working! You were right - it was installed correctly already.

Trying an old save file should have been the first thing I did, but the message displayed after installing made me think it didn't work when compared to installing the other tweaks.

Appreciate the swift reply and the brilliant mods! Thank you!

I'm confused.  Which of these would I use to shorten the paradign shift?

    Hey man,
Been loving all of your mods for this game as I ignite all of the nostalgia for when I played it last.
Finished a playthrough with most of the difficulty mods on except "Hard Enemy Stagger'; this mod cannot find the file specified to run the batch file.
Can you provide any insight on how I could remedy this?
I'd like to do one final playthrough of this game, going for 100%, but I would like to have that stagger resistance enabled first.
Thank you again for all of the lovely mods!

I think I did everything correctly but I don't know if anything changed or not, is there so way to tell if the mods are working/running and i'm not just playing vanilla
