Ok so with the conflicting methods on how to use this thing, I finally figured it out!
when you view your item in TexTools, Click on the drop down box labled "texture Map" and click on "Colourset"
From there you are changing the colourset of your model/texture
from here click import(three dots) and find the rename.dds
    click save and you're done!

When i use any tights  i find in game, they look speckled. Think that is because of the textures... What leggings/tights are u using? and if it is a mod, can u tell us where to get it?
    thanks

This can be used as a base for many colors. Thanks to the latest colorset editor it would only take a minor edit to the core color to make that work.

This is actually very nice , fyi there are 2 files you need to replace a .dat and a .dds by the file you download. really looks good for hempen for Roegadyn.

For those who are still wondering how to use this:
Step 1: Search the item you want on textools
Step 2: Under Textures, go to colorset and press 'Export as DDS'
Step 3: Click the little file icon to the top right
Step 4: Drag the 'Rename.DDS' file that you downloaded
Step 5: Copy the name of the colorset of the item you exported, and delete it.
Step 6: Rename the 'Rename' file with the name you copied and exit the file
Step 7: Go to '3D Model' and press the 'Update TEX' button to make sure it works.

I follow your directions and when I press "Update TEX" nothing happens :-(
Any advice? (yes running as administrator)
I can get other mods to work, such as the cleaner faces for highlander females and the eyeliner pack.

Incase you haven't got an answer yet, that should be the hempen chemise, which used to be the starting top for all female characters back in 1.0
